With approximately 6 hours of travelling without any shortcut, it is incredible to believe that Pai, a small town in Mae Hong Son province has become a destination for travellers forging their way from Chiang Mai International Airport passing 752 curves rolling up the hill before reaching the district. Many people are put off with this moment of truth and just leave Pai off their travel journal while others, including ones in a weaker state and those in healthy condition, take the challenge to spend their time in this peaceful town once in their lifetime. Although the purpose to take a trip to Pai has changed over the decade, according to nationality, culture, and preference of traveller groups, the similar possession Pai always offers to its visitors within the embrace of mountainous landscape are the all-year chilly weather, endless golden and green rice fields, and local friendliness.

Pai may lose its charming rural countryside when development visits, but this new lifestyle has also created a lively tone to this clean and restful town. With more than 200 accommodations established in an area of 2,244.7 square metres, it is proof that Pai remains a tourism gem for travellers around the world to discover. Another route to experience the Northern regions century heritage is a journey to Lamphun, Lampang, Phayao, Prae,Nan, Uttaradit and Chiang Rai where Lanna culture has influenced their lifestyle, dress, food, art & craft, hospitality, and architecture. Chiang Rai, the far northern city of Thailand, became the center of the Lanna Thai Kingdom during the 13th century. These days Chiang Rai is not only renowned for its Lanna culture but also the local arts from Thailand’s famous artists and natural resources. For many years, the Golden Triangle has been a mysterious and attractive destination for adventurers to visit while the mountain trekking trip has always been popular. Therefore, many types of accommodation is available to choose from depending upon travellers destinations whether in town, on the mountain, or simply in the rice field. A trip to nearby cities including Lamphun, Lampang, Phayao, Prae, Nan, and Uttaradit is also an eye-opening experience to learn more about their identity and especially the northern dialect reflecting their gentle and polite personality that is being passed down from through generations. The origin of Thailand however did not just come from Lanna territories; the first kingdom of Thailand is Sukhothai, another northern province connected to the south border of Prae and Uttaradit. Alongside being the first capital city of the nation, Sukhothai is rich with culture and tradition expressed through the way of life, temples and architecture that has built up the nation today. Located in the old town area of Sukhothai, where the former capital city’s Kings allowed the residents to use the bell as a mean for Royal communication, Hotel De’ Peal is a stay where history rings the bell in its elegant appeal. Like the combination of its name, “Peal” which means Bell and a short word for appeal, the hotel mixed the western architecture and Thai craft work together.
