Jakarta, October 12, 2014 Binus Northumbria School of Design (BNSD) aspires to get the internationalization and increase competitive value, locally and internationally. In fashion industry, BNSD aims to encourage local values to their fashion students. We hope that our graduates could promote Indonesian culture by their ready to wear collections. By participating in Jakarta Fashion Week 2015, we hope we could accomplish our vision. The theme for the collection is Splendor Treasure, the twist of traditions aspects merging with culture elements into new design form without losing it’s feature. To fulfill that purpose, BNSD held 7 days research trip for several students where they developed the understanding about Makassar legacy and culture as well as to have opportunity to have direct interaction with local tenun craftsmen. These students will prepare the fabric and garment collection and gain more knowledge by visiting some traditional tenun villages in South Sulawesi while others took Makassar landscape and it’s beautiful creature as the inspiration for design. This will be a pilot project, to enhance classroom material and push it further as a real project. The plan is to participate and show the students collection from Binus Northumbria School of Design for Jakarta Fashion Week 2015
