According to a 2013 Strategy&/Katzenbach Center survey of global senior executives on culture and change management, the success rate of major change initiatives is only 54 percent.
This is far too low. The costs are high when change efforts go wrong, not only financially but in confusion, lost opportunity, wasted resources, and diminished morale.
There is a list of important guidelines to provide help for managers to better deal with the obstacles and challenges of company changes.
Lead with the Culture We need to be aware that each business environment has a specific company culture and it is quite impossible to succeed without being aware of how employees’ act, behave and work. Recognizing important aspects of a company culture allows managers to be aligned with the emotional side and best practices of his team.
Start at the Top Although it is important to engage employees at every level early on, all successful change initiatives start at the top, to ensure that everyone agrees about the main reasons and actions to implement them.

Involve every layer Change implementation often fail to take into account the extent to which midlevel and frontline people can make or break such strategy. It is important to recognize the need of involving everyone and department in such changes.
Communicate well! Leaders often make the mistake of imagining that everyone understands and knows what to do when new changes are implemented. Such procedure must be based on clear and easy communication tools that are able to clarify any matter or doubts left.
Assess and adapt! Many organizations involved in transformation efforts fail to measure their success before moving on. Leaders are so eager to claim victory that they don’t take the time to find out what’s working and what’s not, and to adjust their next steps accordingly. It is important to assess the results and to adapt when facing obstacles and challenges.
