’ We usually study the birth of Christ at Advent as a single, glorious event. Everything about the Advent story pulls at our emotions: the young virgin who was willing to do whatever God wanted of her; the betrothed husband who put aside cultural traditions to humbly be used by God; the quiet, humble birth in a borrowed stable; and the glorious proclamation of the birth by an army of God’s angels to the shepherds nearby. It’s a wonderful story. But the story of Advent is so much more than that. Advent is one part of God’s amazing plan for His people. This Advent season, rejoice in the birth of God’s Son as you also look at the bigger picture––God’s plan to bring salvation and restoration through His Son––by taking a journey from the cradle to the crown.
