hen I first started publishing Life in the Overflow Magazine, I was committed to maintaining the original vision of the publication, which is to celebrate the lives of those from our inner cities who have gone unnoticed, who may not get celebrated, but deserve recognition on a platform with mainstream appeal. I wanted to create a magazine that gave them an opportunity to share their voices and not be clouded or drowned out by celebrity faces and news stories. While I still hold on to my initial vision for the publication, I realize that God has moved us to another place. There was a time where I was adamant about not having celebrity faces on the cover, but rather give our pastors, leaders, business men and women within our communities the opportunity to be celebrated. You’ll see that in our past cover features; but with the close of our 5th year, we are in another place in Him. Earlier this year, I had the opportunity to talk to Preachers of Atlanta’s Pastor LeAndria Johnson about her role on the new series and then I was favorably granted access to cover the 31st Annual Stellar Awards. Well, needless to say that God has shown me His will for Life in the Overflow Magazine and I am still elated to have had the opportunity to stand in the midst of today’s gospel greats and some of yesterday’s gospel legends at the 31st Annual Stellar Awards in Las Vegas. With that being said, look for new changes in the flow as we evolve into what God says we’ll be in print, online, on radio and television. We’re not losing sight of our original vision, we’re just adding to it! Now, everyday people living life in the overflow will be celebrated in a publication in mainstream arenas, with mainstream appeal. We’re continuing to move forward and we’re grateful that you keep us in the flow! Let me know how you like the Stellar issue; enjoy some great articles, photos and features from the Stellar Awards and our contributors. As we close out with our final issue before our 6 Year Birthday Summer issue, I would like to thank you for staying in the flow with Life in the Overflow Magazine as we continue to celebrate living life in the overflow, where the only way to flow – is with the Father Leading Our Way! Happy Sweet ‘16!

y daughter asked me recently if she could plant her apple seed after eating and of course, I told her yes. She planted her seed and took a chair over to where she planted it and sat. I later asked her what it is that she was doing and she told me she was waiting for her seed to grow. I’m not sure why, but I found it very hilarious and let me add, a little strange and impossible in my mature mind. After explaining to her that seeds takes time to grow - some more than some - the Holy Spirit highlighted the subject of childlike faith to me. As a young Christian, I recall many instances in my Christian journey where I had childlike faith. I believed everything without questioning and if I was told something along the lines of faith I would fall for it without discerning if there was truth attached. Childlike faith is good, it has its place where we should be quick to believe God for a thing in such a way that our childlike faith does not question the impossibilities before our eyes. The flipside to this however is that childlike faith must evolve into growing or mature faith and a distict balance needs to be established between the two. Our faith should never remain the same, but instead increase and evolve over time with experience and through a closer walk with God. God wants to talk to us. He wants to do exceeding abundantly above all that we can ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us, which is our faith highlighted. There are different stages or levels of faith and God will work with us based on where we are in Him, but we will never achieve the ultimate until our faith elevates to a mature level in God. When last have you checked your faith? Do you have growing faith? But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek Him ~Heb. 11:6. rophetic ministry doesn’t operate like a gumball machine. You can’t put in a quarter—or send an e-mail or Facebook message—and out comes a prophetic word. It just doesn’t work that way. Part of this misunderstanding is rooted in the proliferation of what I call the “Internet Prophets.” Some actually take out Google Ads promoting how you can get a daily personal prophecy, while others promise a prophetic word delivered to your e-mail inbox for about the price of a tank of gas.
When I see this sort of stuff, it grieves me for two reasons. First, the gifts of the Spirit are not for sale. We saw Simon the Sorcerer try to buy the ability to lay hands on people and get them filled with the Holy Spirit. We also saw Peter sorely rebuke him for it. In fact, Peter said, “Your money perish with you, because you thought that the gift of God could be purchased with money! You have neither part nor portion in this matter, for your heart is not right in the sight of God. Repent therefore of this your wickedness, and pray God if perhaps the thought of your heart may be forgiven you. For I see that you are poisoned by bitterness and bound by iniquity.” (Acts 8:20-23). And let’s not forget Elisha’s servant Gehazi. After Elisha helped Naaman find a cure for leprosy, the commander of the Syrian king’s army offered him a gift for his service. Elisha refused, even when Naaman urged him to take it. Gehazi ran after Naaman to collect a reward. Elisha found him out and Gehazi ended up a leper (see 2 Kings 5). I’m not saying that prophets cannot receive offerings for ministry., but we must be careful not to merchandise the gifts of the Spirit. Jesus said, “Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out demons. Freely you have received, freely give.” (Matthew 10:8). Prophetic vs The Prophet One misconception in the Body of Christ is understanding the office of a Prophet being mixed with a so called “Prophetic Gift”. What is a Prophetic Gift? Prophetic is a means to contemporarily understand prophecy. Which gives an interpretation of what’s spoken by man’s understanding. When we say prophetic do we really understand what we are saying? I don’t believe we actually do.
SPRING 2016 The word prophetic is never mentioned in (KJV) scriptures not was it ever mentioned in the times of biblical Prophets. Certainly no-one carried prophetic giftings. Either they were a Prophet of God or not. This new generation of Prophets have raised different opinions, changed the office to rather fit there own understanding, while embracing titles that are not represented in the five-fold ministries, such as the words Ambassador or Master Prophet. The Prophetic is preferably only the personality of a Prophet not a gift. Some claim to carry these secret gifts as a Prophet; but don’t actually walk in the total office of a Prophet. I certainly believe the church has misinformed the people of the biblical legitimacy of a Prophet. Just because the Lord spoke to you in your sleep, gave you a Word in the store, does not make you a Prophet. Any person that is baptised in the Holy Ghost certainly have communication with the Spirit of God. That’s clearly the Holy Ghost speaking to you giving directions, conviction, or warning. That wouldn’t be a license to name yourself a Prophet. On the other hand a Prophet is a person who have been called from the womb of his/her mother to be the horn of God to the church. °Jeremiah 1:5 KJV Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee; and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee, and I ordained thee a prophet unto the nations. You can’t wake up one morning and discover you are a Prophet. This calling is one that has been bubbling in your soul as a child. The true Prophet has made an encounter with God as God himself grooms his manservant to be the voice to the nations. The Prophet does not operate in a gift; but operates under the divine cloke of a Holy mantle directly from Heaven. I would say that would knock off about 30% of Prophets that’s popping up out of nowhere. A true Prophet will speak only what God has set forth and shall not lie! If God is a God that can not lie; why would he lie through his prophet? The Apostolic order is the church being built and governed by the Apostles and Prophets so the requirements must be carfully considered and understood - only God can raise such a voice to protect the ROCK the church was built on. This is not a season of time where God is calling for Prophetic Gifts to rise; God is calling for chain breaking, revolutionizing, and demon bursting Prophets who will hit the battle field with a sword of Glory and speak exactly what God is truly saying to the church. Why a sword? Cause the sword is the representation of the WORD OF GOD. A gift could never uncover the mysteries
13
of God in truth; but a Prophet can speak through the channel of the Holy Ghost revealing the mysteries of the WORD with Rhema edification that suits the Body of Christ for the building of the saints and equipping the church to operate in the Spirit of Total Excellence. The prayer of today is for God to reveal the true Prophets and bring forth the beautiful sound of HIS word through the Prophets. The more the Prophet is shoved away from the Church the closer the Church gets to walking outside of the true protocol of the Apostolic Ministry. Lord Restore The Office Of The Prophets So We May Hear And Know Exactly What The Spirit Is Saying To All The Churches!

SPRING 2016 LITO: Why reality television? If God says that he will make your name great, what is your purpose for using a worldly platform to continue to be judged by the world? LEANDRIA JOHNSON: I wouldn’t necessarily call it a worldly platform; you know we have some churches that are worldly platforms, and I’ll explain that more on the show, you’ll have to tune in. It’s another vehicle, and one that needs to be used. You have those that are not in the church. I think it’s great idea, and we just need to thank God for the doors that are open. LITO: I read an EEW article called “Promiscuity in the Pews”, which highlighted some of your own testimonies about being saved, single, and still sexing in the church. Why do you feel that it is necessary to bring that topic to the forefront? And not just in a homosexual sermon or context either, but heterosexual as well. LEANDRIA JOHNSON: Yes, some churches and pastors are telling people what they can and cannot do, what about what you can and what we need to do. At the end of the day, telling someone that they can’t have sex doesn’t mean they’ll listen. They may listen to you for awhile and not do it, but when they do what is next to be done? I like teaching with the truth of the matter, and they have sex education in schools; they are going to get it from somewhere, so why not get it taught in the church with love? We have preachers out here doing it to get saved, we’re doing it for them to get saved. I think alot is overrated, it’s very important to involve the “life” part lesson in the church. We can’t be so churchbound and no earthly good. LITO: I know you say you do read

your social media comments, the good ones and the bad one’s – Some may say your unorthodox methods are worldly, the Oxygen trailer for The Preacher’s of Atlanta shows a clip of you “Taking it to the Streets”, What do you say in response to those who ask the question: Why does a pastor need to go out and pass out condoms and cigarettes? Why not offer prayer?
anymore..and it’s not because a bishop told me to stop. I stopped smoking because I want my lungs and its unhealthy for me. We have some fat preachers out here; you talking about me drinking and your body doesn’t exemplify...you need to lose some weight, you glutton. No offense to all the fat preachers out there, but I’m just saying, it’s the same thing.
LEANDRIA JOHNSON: Well, I mean prayer is the key, it has power, but if that person is not praying then what - I just tell you like this. I’d rather see someone protected. They are out there doing what they want to do. If that’s what I can do to keep them from getting pregnant or getting AIDS/ HIV... but, it’s another vehicle. We shouldn’t be so deep.
LITO: You mentioned lacking self respect at some point in your life. Self respect is a huge issue among young women today and some older ones; what advice would you give to young women about gaining their self respect and keeping it.
LITO: You’re not just a gospel recording artist, but you also pastor a church, (IPC) IMPERFECT PEOPLE CHANGING MINISTRIES in Atlanta; with your method of ministry– even with “taking it to the streets”, how can you effectively preach ‘life change as a new creature’ to people, or “I’m a new creature and I am transformed by my renewed mind, when they serve under the mantle of “I’m imperfect and still changing”. LEANDRIA JOHNSON: Well, we’re not going to be perfect until He comes back. If people are letting people know you can stop what you’re doing and you don’t have to do it anymore. Now, there is something to be said about that. There’s growth everyday and I teach the people to not get caught up on their hangups and let God talk to them and let God deal with their mind. There are mercies every day, we can’t sit here and say this and that. I used to smoke, but I don’t smoke
LEANDRIA JOHNSON: We as women have to understand how powerful we are. We are able to birth, carry, pour into, and I believe that once we are unitied we can have a million woman March. For me, 2016 will be Sweet 16. LITO: What was your experience like filming a reality television show and do you see yourself coming back next season? LEANDRIA JOHNSON: If they ask me, I will. At first it was fun, but towards the end I was like, okay how long y’all gone be? (laughing) It was fun and very interesting, I’ll do it again. LITO: Musically, are you working on anything new, if so when can we look forward to being able to hearing something new from you? LEANDRIA JOHNSON: Yes, Better Days has been played out there, it has been rerecorded and is now available on iTunes, Spotify... Better Days are Coming.

ARE YOU CHOSEN? by Dr. Prophetess Donna Dandie
I
n writing this article, I have to thank God for opening my eyes to see so many things differently, but, I also have to give credit to whom credit is due. It was after listening to Apostle Matthew Stevenson’s Easter Sunday message entitled “Betrayed!!!!!” and briefly glimpsing a sub-title of a book I was about to read entitled “The Greatest Man Who Ever Lived” by Steven K. Scott, that Holy Spirit began to minister to me about looking closely at the call on my life. As I did and decided to rededicate my life and consecrate myself before God because whatever happens I DO NOT WANT TO MISS WHAT GOD DESIRES ME TO DO. As I went through this silent time, this is what I wrote as Holy Spirit spoke into my spirit. Jesus selected his disciples carefully. Those he chose to be in His inner circle and those He sent out to minister. Having made His selection, Jesus extended the authority given to Him to the others. Notice, He never sent them out to ministry alone, but sent them out in pairs. In the same way I believe today that God still selects only a few to change the world (usually unlikely ones that society would not even look on much less select for ministry). Many Christians have taken upon themselves to do things and go into places that God has not called them to and can’t figure out what is going wrong, and then they begin to blame God and get discouraged when things don’t go their way. Having said that, let me be quick to add, all of us children of God, have the mandate of ministers, but only a few of us will be selected to do the deeper things of ministry. But to do this takes preparation. The lesson we must learn from the disciples is that we MUST spend time in the Presence of God so that Holy Spirit can guide us and give us specific instructions. Remember, every time we go into God’s presence, we take the sum total of who we are and all we have been exposed to. Getting past those experience so we can experience the Glory of God in its fullness takes time and it cannot be rushed. I always tell my children and those I have taught, there is a price to pay to achieve the things we desire in life. If we desire to be used of God in the way He designed us (operative phrase – in the way He designed us), then we have got to be willing to pay the price of taking quality time out with God. Shutting out everything around us so that we can hear God clearly. When we take a shower, there is a process to go through. We undress, take off jewelry if necessary, put the phone out of the way then get in the tub. Once in the tub, we can’t just stand in the tub and expect the water to turn on. We have got to turn it on because we are preparing to take a shower. Further, once the water is on, we can’t even just stand in the shower and expect the water to wet us and do what needs to be done. We have to engage in the process of bathing ensuring that every part of our body is properly cleaned to get rid of all the germs that attached itself to us during the day. If all we do is stand and watch the water fall from the shower head, then leave the shower without getting wet; put on a new change of clothes, a little deodorant and some sweet smelling stuff, after a while someone will detect it. We may be able to fool people for a while about taking a regular shower, but eventually someone’s sense of smell is going to kick in and they will realize that there is something off about us. After a while, no one will want to get close, because being close is unbearable. The stench will become overwhelming. That sad part is, sometimes we won’t even realize that there is a stench because we’ve gotten used to it. And even if we are aware of the stench, it is possible that we have done nothing about it because we’ve become accustomed to the “getting in the tub and watching the water from the shower fall” behavior without engaging in the act of taking a shower, so we’ve also now become accustomed to totally ignoring the stench. In the same way, if we get to the place of God’s Presence and refuse to go in and be saturated, refreshed, renewed, rejuvenated, receive instructions, receive new life and everything that goes with that experience, eventually those around us will be able to tell. We may try to use eloquent words to convince otherwise, but it just won’t work because the ‘smell’ of not being in God’s Presence is right there. Matthew 7:20 (KJV) tells us “Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them”. (I encourage you to study carefully Matthew chapters 5-7).
We live in an “wordy” world. Individuals are trying to convince others through words, about who they really are, yet have great difficulty living up to their own recommendations of themselves. When we know we are in purpose; when we know that we are living in the Presence of God; then we can rest assured that the calling on our lives will take its natural course – the way God intended. We just have to be willing to ‘Go’. We have to be willing to be totally sold out and obedient to God. We have to be willing to live a life that is holy and acceptable to God. We have to be willing to make the sacrifices where even and whenever necessary. We have to be willing to trust God so we can walk out the BIG picture He has designed for each of our lives, but we have to do so through faith. Speak to the disciples and they would probably tell you stories of their own short comings, but yet God chose them to set the foundation of Christianity today. They really messed up along the way, but when they got the vision of God, they got it and life was never the same. Let us not lose hope. In closing, I leave with you the passage of scripture found in 2 Peter 1:4-10 - Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust. And beside this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge; And to knowledge temperance; and to temperance patience; and to patience godliness; And to godliness brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness charity. For if these things be in you, and abound, they make you that ye shall neither be barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. But he that lacketh these things is blind, and cannot see afar off, and hath forgotten that he was purged from his old sins. Wherefore the rather, brethren, give diligence to make your calling and election sure: for if ye do these things, ye shall never fall: Yes, many are called, but few are chosen. Are you chosen?
