Arvada proudly supports its local businesses. Recently, the Arvada Economic Development Association and the Arvada Chamber of Commerce issued a proclamation designating the Saturday after Thanksgiving as Small Business Saturday. The proclamation was accepted by our very own La Pâtisserie Française. This annual event encourages the community to shop locally as a chance to celebrate and strengthen the small businesses that are the heart of our city.

Dental Specialists Providing Exceptional Care in a Luxurious Environment
Walking into AVOS Dental Specialists, patients encounter the welcoming environment of a practice that provides exceptional specialty dental care while creating a relaxing, luxurious experience designed to alleviate common fears associated with dental or surgical treatment. Because of the practice’s unique multi-specialty design, patients benefit from the ease and convenience of having endodontics, oral and maxillofacial surgery, and periodontics specialties all in one practice.
“We are always striving to raise the bar for the standard of care, especially from a patient convenience standpoint,” shared Dr. Dustin Haupt. “By having all the specialties under one roof, I think that is something we're achieving.”
Although each specialty has a specific concentration, they all work together to improve each patient’s overall oral health. Endodontic treatments include root canal therapy and clearing up infections while periodontic therapy focuses on managing gum disease and its associated conditions through treatment of deep pockets, gum grafting, bone loss, and more.
Oral and maxillofacial surgery specialists focus on extractions, implants, repairing facial fractures, and wisdom teeth removal. Additionally, they provide surgical options for the airway which includes expansion of the top jaw, allowing patients to breathe more easily through the nose which reduces sleep apnea-like symptoms.
Although referrals are not necessary for an appointment, Dr. Haupt clarifies why general dentists initiate referrals. “It is normal for your general dentist to refer you to a specialist for treatment that may be outside of their scope,” he explains. “With improved
dental care and specialization, we have professionals who are excellent with those specific procedures and can provide a much better outcome and higher success rate with their treatment.”
Benefits of having multiple specialties in one practice include the ability to offer IV sedation across concentrations as well as cross treatment. “We do a fair number of combined cases where I might be extracting wisdom teeth on a patient who also needs a root canal. I sedate the patient and then whenever I'm finished, Dr. Kiebish does the root canal while the patient is still asleep,”

explains Dr. Haupt. “Or, if the patient is having a root canal, but unfortunately, the tooth cannot be saved, then they are able to see me at that same visit to discuss different options such as implants. This makes it easier for the patient and saves them additional visits, consultation costs, and X-rays.”
AVOS Dental Specialists is the only privately owned multi-specialty practice in the state of Colorado and the only locally owned oral surgery practice in Arvada. For more information, visit www.avosds.com or call 720-798-1200. Referrals are not required for an appointment.
New Dawn Chiropractic & Acupuncture, led by Dr. Julie Henderson, has become a trusted resource for holistic health in the community. The clinic provides gentle, effective care for individuals and families, emphasizing wellness and education as cornerstones of its practice.
“As a chiropractor, it is in my heart to help others,” Henderson says. Her philosophy emphasizes treating patients like family, which has cultivated a loyal following. This dedication resonates with her patients, most of whom are referred by others.
Dr. Henderson’s approach goes beyond adjustments. Every new patient begins with a comprehensive, hour-long consultation, where she listens attentively to understand their needs. During these “data collection” visits, Henderson listens closely to understand each patient’s individual concerns. In a follow-up visit, a thoughtful approach to the client's needs are discussed. Transparency is a priority, and she walks clients through every step of their treatment. Her methods, known for their gentle touch, offer an alternative to the more traditional and aggressive chiropractic techniques.

Education is another cornerstone of New Dawn’s mission. Weekly Wellness Talks are held every Tuesday evening, offering the community insights on specific topics such as headaches, strokes, cancer and stress management. These talks are a requirement for patients but open to the public as well. “There’s so much inaccurate information out there. People don’t always know how to care for their bodies, and we want to show them better ways,” she says. These sessions, often led by Dr. Henderson or guest speakers, aim to dispel misinformation and teach practical ways to support health. In addition to the Wellness Talks, various body movement classes are also taught at the office. These include core strengthening sessions, stretching, posture work and more.
In addition to chiropractic care, the clinic integrates acupuncture, which Henderson says complements their approach by calming the nervous system and improving energy flow. “Stress impacts everything in our bodies. Chiropractic care reconnects our brain and body to communicate, which elevates our clarity and body function. Acupuncture works with the energy that flows in the body. It can help calm the nervous system and body down. Our energy flows through channels and those channels can get blocked. Acupuncture works to open those channels up."
The clinic also prioritizes community engagement. In a recent partnership with The Hope House, undergarments were collected to serve those in need. Henderson and her team are committed to giving back and serving a larger purpose.
Patients and staff alike embrace the practice’s wellness principles. “We have to move, fuel our bodies, stay hydrated, rest, and reduce stress,” Henderson says. “These habits are essential for living well.”
Patients can find a wealth of resources on New Dawn’s website, where Wellness Talks and other programs are regularly updated. Dr. Henderson encourages anyone curious about their services to reach out.
New Dawn Chiropractic & Acupuncture is located at 7878 Wadsworth Blvd., Suite 200. For more information, visit newdawndc.com or call 303-420-7707.

As a team of people who love animals, the staff at Indian Tree Animal Hospital creates a friendly environment with a focus on providing excellent care for cats and dogs. From routine annual visits and vaccinations to emergency care for sick pets and the hospital’s surgery center, the skilled staff is prepared to accommodate a large range of pet needs.
“Your pet is so important to us,” shares Britney Hartman, Social Media and Community Outreach Coordinator for the hospital. “We take pride in what we do, and we want to be able to provide the best services, the best knowledge, and the best support we can to our clients. We also have partnerships with trainers and other pet resources in the community to make sure our clients connect with the resources to meet their needs.”
In honor of National Pet Safety Day on January 2nd, Indian Tree Animal Hospital provides travel safety tips to ensure pets and pet owners have the best travel experience possible.
Confirm that the mode of transportation and destination accommodations allow pets and if any documentation is required. Additional paperwork may be needed to travel out of the country and specific requirements differ for each country. If traveling out of the county, find out if any additional vaccines are required for that area or if a different tick and flea treatment plan is necessary. Traveling to another country often takes a lot of preparation, so consult a veterinarian early in the planning process to ensure your pet is protected for whatever they might encounter during travel.
Confirm that vaccinations are up to date and appropriate for the travel destination. Also obtain current copies of documents and paperwork. With pets that experience motion sickness or anxiety, the veterinarian can give suggestions to help alleviate symptoms or

prescribe medication to keep pets as calm and comfortable as possible during travel.
Ensure the pet has a microchip for easy identification and confirm that contact information on file for the microchip is updated and correct. The first person to encounter a lost pet, however, may not have the ability to scan a microchip so having an emergency name and contact information on a collar tag may result in a faster reunion of pet and owner.
Include food (plus a little more than needed), bowls, medicines, waste bags, and a favorite toy in the kit. It is important to take food and cat litter from home in case the kind normally used is not available during the trip. Changing food can be especially difficult during travel since it often causes gastrointestinal issues. Consider using bottled water as well to minimize stomach issues.
If you are planning an extended car ride, take your pet on short drives in the vehicle being used for the trip. Try to include other people who will be traveling with you. This helps pets and other travelers become acclimated to traveling in a moving vehicle together.
Always secure animals riding in a vehicle using a pet carrier or seat belt. An unsecured dog is a danger to themselves and others in the vehicle. Lap riding is discouraged. Cats are best secured in a carrier. If they are not accustomed to a carrier, begin well before the trip by getting them used to it at home and then by taking short rides using the carrier. Make the carrier more appealing with a favorite blanket and treats. Never leave an animal unattended in a vehicle and take a break every 3-4 hours to allow your pet to get up, walk around, and use the bathroom.
Research and make note of emergency veterinary services on the travel route and at the destination. Also, create an emergency information card with your name, an emergency contact, and the names and types of pets traveling with you. In case of an emergency, this information will help keep you and your pet from being separated in the long term.
The team at Indian Tree Animal Hospital, located at 7778 Vance Drive, would love to get to know you and your pets.
