As we celebrate love and leadership, we encourage you to reflect on the moments and people who have brought joy, resilience, and passion into your life. THE NIGHTMARE TURNS DREAM:
CODY RHODES ON WRESTLING, ROSWELL & BUILDING CHAMPIONS OF TOMORROW
ARTICLE BY TRAN BU | PHOTOGRAPHY BY GINA HOFFMAN OF VISION PR
Cody Rhodes, known to fans worldwide as “The American Nightmare,” is living his dream—or perhaps rewriting it. Born and raised in East Cobb, the undisputed WWE Champion has carved his own path in professional wrestling while honoring the legacy of his father, the legendary WWE Hall of Famer “The American Dream” Dusty Rhodes. Cody’s journey from wrestling royalty to WWE Champion is a story of grit, determination, and reinvention.
A LEGACY BUILT IN THE RING
Cody made his WWE debut in 2007 and quickly established himself as a star, capturing multiple WWE Tag Team and Intercontinental Championships. In 2016, he craved more than what WWE had to offer at the time. “I no longer felt challenged,” he admitted. “I needed to bet on myself and see what else was out there.”
That leap of faith led Cody to the independent wrestling scene. He won NWA World's Heavyweight Championship. He also became a founding member and an EVP at All Elite Wrestling (AEW). His work outside WWE not only elevated his career, but reshaped the industry. Still, home was calling.
Cody’s 2022 return to WWE at WrestleMania 38 was nothing short of electric. Since then, he’s headlined WrestleMania three
times and achieved his lifelong dream—winning the Undisputed WWE Championship. “When I was eight years old, I saw a photo of my father holding the championship belt over his head, only to find he never officially won it. It became my goal to win,” Cody reflected. “Handing that title to my mother in the ring at WrestleMania 40—nothing can beat that moment.”
BUILDING CHAMPIONS AT THE NIGHTMARE FACTORY
When Cody isn’t making history inside the ring, he’s helping others build their own legacies. In 2020, he co-founded The Nightmare Factory, a state-of-the-art wrestling training facility in the Atlanta area. “I understand the challenges of breaking into sports entertainment” Cody explained. “I wanted to provide opportunities, mentorship, and a structured path for the next generation of wrestlers to thrive.”
The school combines in-ring technique, promo skills, character development and the psychological aspects of wrestling to create well-rounded performers. Recently, The Nightmare Factory became part of WWE’s ID Program, focused on identifying and cultivating future stars. Cody’s advice to aspiring wrestlers: CONTINUED >
Family fun at Disney
Brandi and Cody celebrate in the ring upon victory
“There’s no rush. Take your time to learn and hone in on your craft. Find a great wrestling school. Always have your ears, eyes and mind open.”
ROOTED IN ROSWELL
Though his career has taken him around the globe, Cody’s heart remains in the Peach State. “I’m a Georgia boy,” he said proudly.
“I went to Lassiter High School in Marietta, and this will always be home.” Cody and his wife, Brandi, chose to settle in Roswell, surrounded by his mom, sister, brother-in-law, niece and nephew. He also picked the city for its thriving community.
“I love Canton Street,” he shared. “It’s full of great restaurants and businesses. Brandi’s yoga and pilates studio, Naked Mind Yoga + Pilates, is right at the end of the street.”
Brandi’s studio is an inclusive space that caters to people in all stages of their fitness journeys. “I’m so proud of her. She's a hands-on instructor and has assembled a team of top-notch teachers offering Naked Mind's clients a variety of class options,” added Cody. “ The studio also has childcare to make it easier for busy parents to prioritize their wellness.”
THE POWER OF PARTNERSHIP
Whether in the ring or at home, Cody values teamwork. “The Nightmare Family isn’t just a wrestling faction—it’s real life,” he explained. “At WWE, I see myself as the quarterback, and I’ve built a loyal team around me.”
That same sense of partnership extends to his marriage. “Brandi has always stood beside me—or behind me when I needed a push,” he said. Their support for one another fuels their success, both professionally and personally.
For date nights, the couple enjoys local favorites like Table & Main and Monkey 68, followed by a round at Top Golf.
CHASING DREAMS AND INSPIRING OTHERS
Cody Rhodes’ story is a testament to resilience, passion, and the pursuit of greatness. From honoring his father’s legacy to blazing his own trail, he’s proven that dreams—even American Nightmares—can come true.
And as he continues to inspire fans worldwide, Cody remains committed to giving back, mentoring future stars, and celebrating life’s victories—both in and out of the ring.

LIVE, LOVE MORE WITH ONE LESS CHORE AT TUMBLE & DRY.
ARTICLE BY DANIELLE BARTLING
Tumble & Dry
Many modern luxuries, from grocery delivery to rideshare, started as necessities that someone, somewhere, dared to innovate. Laundry service, however, was long overdue for a spin—until Tumble & Dry turned the tide.
Andrew Lucas first dreamed of owning a laundromat as a source of passive income to spend more time with his wife, Frances, and their son, Drew, who is on the autism spectrum, and to create an inclusive workplace where Drew could work alongside them in the future.
Fifteen years later, a devastating twist of fate pushed Andrew to make that dream a reality.
In 2021, the Lucases purchased their first laundromat in Roswell. While navigating the economic uncertainty of the pandemic as small business owners, they faced an even greater challenge as a family: Andrew’s ongoing battle with COVID, marked by multi-organ damage, chronic health issues, and persistent exhaustion.
As they leaned on each other more than ever, Andrew and Frances realized the true value of what they could offer customers: more time with loved ones—the very reason they started a family business in the first place. This clarity inspired them to rebrand, renovate, and expand to a second location in Acworth.
Tumble & Dry, born from the founders' sheer grit and determination to spend more time with each other, now helps families across Roswell, East Cobb, and Woodstock do the same.
“As a family first and business second, we understand raising children and managing a household through thick and thin takes a village,” said Lucas. “We’re here to be part of that support system.”
At Tumble & Dry, laundry isn’t a chore—it’s a joyful, often hands-free experience. With convenient drop-off and delivery options, quick turnarounds, and an easyto-use mobile app, customers save time and gain the freedom to enjoy richer, more fulfilling lives.
At the bottom of every "bottomless" laundry pile are endless possibilities—more breakfasts in bed, more
pillow fights, more dinner table conversations, and more forced-family-fun nights.
“You can’t put a price on time,” said Lucas. “Our mission has always been to give people theirs back, so they can focus on what, and more importantly who, matters most.”
Impactful yet unobtrusive, Tumble & Dry functions like an extension of the home—seamlessly fitting into the lives of busy customers who appreciate a few extra hours each week.
“We set out to reimagine what a laundromat could be,” said Lucas, “to not just meet a need, but to elevate the experience entirely.”
Walking through the doors is like stepping into a retreat. Impeccably clean and thoughtfully designed, the Tumble & Dry atmosphere feels worlds apart from the gritty fluorescence of laundromats frozen in time and untouched by care.
Tumble & Dry goes to great lengths to ensure customers feel cared for—whether doing their own laundry in-store, dropping off their T&D bag, or scheduling a delivery with their phone in hand and a child on their hip.
The Lucases extend that same level of care to their team, fostering an inclusive environment where everyone feels valued and supported. As the business grows, they plan to expand their hiring program to include their son, Drew, and more adults with disabilities.
“When we ask how you’re doing, we truly care about the answer,” said Lucas. “We greet our regulars by name and know more than just their favorite detergent or dryer setting—we know their families, their jobs, their stories. Laundry may bring us together, but it’s the relationships that matter.”

Discover and celebrate the contributions and achievements of African Americans throughout history.
Celebrating
Black History
February is Black History month and there is no better place than the Atlanta metro area to celebrate the accomplishments, heritage and culture of Black Americans. With so many February events planned, you are bound to find an event for you and your friends and family.
To sample what is available in the Atlanta area, you can kick off the month-long celebration on February 1st by attending the Black Improv night at the Roswell
Sculpture William Root House
Cultural Arts Center. Giggle the night away, as you are entertained by internationally celebrated comedians from HBO, BET and Comedy Central. Next, experience African-American Folktales at the Lawrenceville Arts Center, on February 15th. Listen to stories the way they were told for centuries, with a talking drum background, delighting the senses. Lastly, you don’t want to miss out on one of the best expositions of the year at Black Expo 2025 on February 22nd and 23rd at the Georgia World Congress Center. Enjoy over 100 exhibitors and businesses, food and beverage tasting competitions and a great chance to network in a festive and exciting setting!
Closer to the Marietta/Cobb area, you can also find museums and walking tours that focus on Black Americans and their accomplishments. Visit Doyal Hill Park and learn about Acworth’s black history and the community that formed after the Civil War. Use your smartphone and scan the signs to take this interesting and informative tour.
Getting outside is always a good idea as you take Marietta’s Black Heritage Walking Tour. Take the 1.9mile loop that will guide you past significant places in history like Old Zion Baptist Church, Cole Street Baptist Church, the original site of Turner Chapel Church, the Blue Eagle Fire Company, Lemon Street Elementary School and the William Root House.
"An important part of the tour is to also share how many of these communities were systematically demolished or removed through eminent domain and redevelopment, beginning in the 1960's. Entire neighborhoods including Black businesses, churches, and homes have been lost through the years. We want to let people know these places existed," says Cobb Landmarks Executive Director Trevor Beemon.
The Marietta History Center is also a great place to visit “Historic Black Neighborhood Makers”, which showcases many homes within the community that hold significant history within their walls. Walk past homes like the Hunter Home. The home of Katie and Charlie Hunter, Sr. stands to signify the accomplishments of the Hunters as they poured into their community by providing rental homes, grocery stores, beauty salons and transportation services to the communities of Marietta, when services were lacking in that era for the African-American community.
However, you don’t have to go further than your neighborhood library to educate yourself and celebrate Black History Month. At the Switzer Library in Marietta, you can enjoy cultural enrichment and performances by Cobb County teens at the African Cultural Fest on February 19th. If you feel inspired, consider taking one of the African dance classes offered during the month of February.
There is something for everyone during Black History month, making Atlanta a must-see during this month of celebrating the rich heritage and culture of African Americans.

Embracing flavors to savor - food, drink, music and more!
Everyone has their version of heaven. It might be green grass, rolling hills and a plethora of wildflowers framing the scene. Maybe it’s as simple as time gathered with family, reminiscing and making new memories by a decorated fire hearth.
However, my idea of heaven brings earthly indulgences and involves as much food and drink that I dare to enjoy, in a festive setting, enriched with live music and a celebratory vibe. Imagine my excitement when I realized I didn’t have to wait for heaven. I can just attend the Georgia Food + Wine Festival! We all have JRM Management to thank for making the Georgia Food + Wine Festival possible for patrons near and far to enjoy. When an opportunity to partner with the Savannah Food + Wine Festival arose, JRM Management and their team jumped at the chance to bring this three-day event to the entire state of Georgia for all to experience. Through a partnership with Georgia Grown, JRM Management has been able to bring their passions to life. Missy Miller of JRM Management relays, “We have been lucky enough to partner with Georgia Grown as our presenting sponsor the last few years. We are so thankful to have them back, as they bring so much to the table and are a perfect fit for this event.”

Cobb County Sheriff's Office is building stronger relationships and restoring trust
ARTICLE BY CATHERINE JAMES
Still riding the high of the 2024 holiday season, we cherish memories made, gifts opened, meals shared and celebrations galore. But, while we enjoyed laughter around candlelit tables and cozy fireplaces, a slew of unsung heroes safeguarded Cobb County's streets to make it possible.
Now, thanks to those heroes, 2025 is set to be Cobb County's safest year yet.
“Our team actively collaborates with churches and faith groups, civic organizations, schools, and other community groups to build stronger relationships and restore trust between law enforcement and the residents we serve.”
Chief of Staff David Jones
ACHIEVEMENTS:
In a year of achievements, growth, and betterment, the Cobb County Sheriff’s Office celebrated two monumental accomplishments above all else. Thanks to Cobb County Sheriffs' resounding dedication, Cobb County saw a 29% decrease in crime. The Sheriff's Office also became a Triple-Crown rated organization, earning recognitions from all three national credentialing authorities in the country—an honor only held by about 100 sheriff's offices nationwide.
"Together, we’ve implemented strategies that prioritize prevention, boost community engagement, and help break the cycle of recidivism," says Sheriff Craig Owens.
JAIL PROGRAMS:
The Cobb County jail offers rehabilitation and second chances to those held in the Adult Detention Center by providing workforce development and employment training to incarcerated individuals, improving their outcomes and supporting Cobb County employers.
"The success of our jail programs speaks for itself: 27 GED graduates, 21 participants prepared for well-paying construction
careers, and over 100 Parenting 101 and Anger Management certifications were earned," says Chief Deputy Rhonda Anderson. "Every GED earned and skill mastered represents a step toward breaking the cycle of incarceration.”
ADVANCEMENTS:
"Our Drone Unit was proactive during the national election season, working with local, state, and federal partners to monitor large crowds and provide real-time aerial views," said Assistant Chief Gina V. Hawkins. "Another testament to our focus on innovation is our K-9 Unit, which includes the first technology-sniffing canine in our region.”
COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT:
While it's nothing new, community engagement remains at the heart of everything Cobb County Sheriff’s Office stand for. At the end of the day, connecting the community and improving residents' quality of life are the purpose of the Sheriff’s Office, and they do that best by being a part of the community themselves.

THE MAKING OF HERSHEY'S
ARTICLE BY CATHERINE JAMES
This Valentine's Day, loved ones across the country will receive boxes of smooth, silky confections donning names like Cadbury, Godiva, Ghiradelli, Ferrero, Lindt and the like. But only one can take credit for America's chocolate obsession, paving the way for dozens more to earn their rightful place on grocery store shelves in centuries to come. That name is Hershey.
But chocolatier Milton Hershey is responsible for more than the rise of delicious milk chocolate. His chocolate-making machinery introduced new technology that made mass-producing food easier, the live-and-work community that housed his factory and empire became what is now the town of Hershey, Pennsylvania, and from that town, he and his wife Catherine fostered the humble beginnings of the Milton Hershey School, a living legacy even greater than chocolate.
The Milton Hershey School aimed to help children with disadvantaged backgrounds get ahead in life. Its lessons were designed to instill the qualities that made Milton such a great businessman and entrepreneur into students. Traits like imagination, perception, future-oriented thinking, and “being daring and having commitment” are emphasized in the school's curriculum.
In 1918, Milton Hershey humbly and silently gifted his entire fortune, 500,000 shares valued at $60 million, in a trust to benefit the school. It wasn't until five years later that the public learned of this wildly generous act.
“Well, I have no children — that is, no heirs,” he was famously quoted in 1923. “So I decided to make the orphan boys of the United States my heirs.”
America's Sweetest Name with an Even Sweeter Cause
Now serving boys and girls, and widely regarded the wealthiest private school in the United States, the Milton Hershey School continues its mission to aid underprivileged children, charging no tuition and paying for its students' college educations as well. To this day, funds from each and every chocolate sold go directly to school funding, and ultimately, the education of thousands of impoverished children each year— something to consider when reaching for a Valentine's Day treat this month.
A Brief History of Milton Hershey School
• 1909 - Milton and Catherine Hershey signed the deed of trust to the Hershey Industrial School. The first step toward a dream to help disadvantaged children.
• 1910 - The school admits its first students—four boys.
• 1918 - Milton Hershey places all of his stock holdings of the Hershey Chocolate Company into a trust to benefit the school.
• 2025 - Over a century later, Hershey's Chocolate continues to impact the lives of adolescents across the country. The Milton Hershey School is one of the world's best private schools.

In the fast-paced world we live in, the art of connection often gets overshadowed by daily distractions and responsibilities. As a couple’s therapist, I witness firsthand the struggles many couples face in maintaining a deep and meaningful connection. The good news is that creating a more connected partnership is not only possible, it can also be transformative.
C U LT I VATING CONNECTEDCOUPLES
A THERAPIST’S PERSPECTIVE ON BUILDING STRONGER RELATIONSHIPS
ARTICLE BY DR. KIMBERLY SEHEULT | PHOTOGRAPHY BY LAURA DEMARIS
Connection is built on trust, communication, and shared experiences. Couples often find themselves caught in a cycle of misunderstandings and unspoken expectations. To break this cycle, I encourage couples to prioritize open dialogue. Regularly setting aside time to discuss feelings, aspirations, and concerns can foster a sense of safety and understanding. Those shared experiences are crucial. Engaging in activities together, whether it’s cooking a meal, exploring new hobbies, or simply enjoying a walk, can reignite that spark of connection. These moments create memories and strengthen the bond that often gets strained in the hustle of everyday life. It’s also vital to practice empathy.
Understanding your partner’s perspective and emotions can bridge gaps that often lead to conflict. A small shift in mindset—viewing disagreements as opportunities for growth rather than battles to win—can transform the dynamics of a relationship. These are skills we teach at East Cobb Counseling.
Lastly, don’t underestimate the power of vulnerability. Sharing fears and insecurities can deepen intimacy and strengthen trust. As couples embrace vulnerability, they create a safe space for each other, leading to a richer, more connected partnership. Creating a more connected couple requires intentional effort, but the rewards—deeper understanding, intimacy, and joy— are worth every moment invested.

DIY GOLD LEAF JEWELRY DISHES
supplies you’ll need:
• Wooden bowls, trays, etc.
• Gold leaf (or metallic gold paint)
• Gentle gold leaf brush
• Mod Podge (or gold leaf adhesive)
• Acrylic paint
• Paint brushes
• Painters tape (optional)
steps to do:
• Grab a wooden bowl, some acrylic paint, and a brush.
• Hand paint some paint on one section of the bowl.
• Let the first coat dry and paint another two to three coats of paint until you’re happy with the result.
• Let the paint fully dry.
• I wanted my gold leaf paper to overlap the paint for a layered look, so I took a paint brush and painted some Mod Podge in an overlapping pattern.
• Once the Mod Podge gets tacky, use your hand to apply the gold leaf and accompanying wax sheet.
• Push the gold leaf onto the tacky glue, then remove the top layer of paper.
• Use your fingers to gently push the gold leaf onto the glue a little further.
• Next, use the gold leaf brush to smooth over the whole area and gently wipe away any excess gold leaf. Pay extra attention to the edges.
• Next, smooth the gold leaf section as much as possible, but don’t worry about any imperfections. The organic look of the gold leaf being imperfect gives the piece character.
• Next, work your way to the outer edge.
• Once the gold leaf is perfected, gently brush over the leaf with some Mod Podge to seal it to the bowl.
• Let it completely dry and enjoy!
