Building A Legacy of Leadership, Real Estate, and Heart

For Andrea Tuell, real estate is more than just a career—it’s in her blood. Growing up in a family where development, ownership, and hard work were the foundation, she didn’t just witness the industry from the sidelines; she lived it. From helping turn over apartments as part of her father’s business to forging her own path in residential real estate, Andrea has built a legacy rooted in dedication, authenticity, and an unwavering commitment to people.

Leadership has been a defining trait since childhood. Whether spearheading school fundraisers, leading teams, or stepping into student council roles, Andrea has always been drawn to creating paths rather than following them. That same drive has shaped her 21-year career in real estate, where she thrives on helping families navigate one of the most significant moments of their lives—buying or selling a home.

Her approach to real estate is simple yet powerful: empathy and kindness. The housing market may be ever-changing, but Andrea’s guiding principle remains the same—understanding that every client’s journey is unique. “I can navigate any market with my clients as long as they know I truly have their back,” she says. “Every family is different, every day is different, and the reward for helping people will forever be my driver.”

One of Andrea’s most cherished career moments was selling her brother’s home. A successful commercial broker and developer himself, his acknowledgment that she had exceeded his expectations was a milestone that reaffirmed her purpose. She carries that same level of care into every transaction, treating each client as if they were family.

Trust is at the core of her business. By listening more than she speaks and offering her expertise in negotiations and market insights, Andrea ensures her clients feel supported throughout the process. Her best advice for homebuyers?

“Everything always happens exactly how it is supposed to. The right property finds you when you’re ready to move. Just trust me.”

Beyond real estate, Andrea is deeply committed to her community. Inspired by the values her parents instilled in her, she has served as Treasurer of the Mountain View Rotary Club as well as a Board Member for Neighbor 2 Neighbor. Perhaps her most heartfelt endeavor is Raising Angels, the nonprofit she co-founded and serves as Board President. Created in honor of a personal loss, Raising Angels provides essential items—cribs, bassinets, formula, diapers—to teen parents in need. Every home Andrea sells contributes to this mission, making her business a true full-circle effort of giving back.

At the heart of Andrea’s success is her family. She and her husband, Guy Tuell, share a deep entrepreneurial spirit—while Andrea thrives in real estate, Guy is the founder of 1QR, a cutting-edge company revolutionizing consumer engagement through technology. Together, they have built not just successful careers but a life filled with love, purpose, and adventure. Their daughters, Boe and Blakely, are their greatest joy, and Andrea is intentional about creating time to be present with them, whether it’s cheering them on in their activities or simply soaking in the little moments of family life.

Looking ahead to 2025, Andrea is setting aside dedicated time for her loved ones while also mentoring her assistant, Amber, as she embarks on her own real estate journey. As Andrea continues to reach her goals, her focus remains on what has always driven her—helping people, fostering connections, and making a meaningful impact on every life she touches.

TRENDING FORWARD

Warm, textured, and effortlessly chic

Design trends are constantly evolving, bringing fresh ideas to elevate your space. Latest design trends incorporate a mix of bold statements and timeless elegance, inspiring a creative approach to interiors.

Earth tones are setting the tone for interiors, bringing both bold character and a calming warmth. Smokey browns, subtle greens, and deep shades of orange and red provide a versatile palette to set the mood. These hues carry a lasting appeal, making it easy to blend new accents with existing decor.

Monochromatic spaces are also embracing earth tones, creating an atmosphere of luxury and depth. By layering shades within the same palette, a room achieves a seamless, cohesive look. This approach enhances both comfort and visual harmony, ensuring the space feels curated yet inviting. Whether subtle or dramatic, these tones provide endless possibilities to shape an environment that reflects warmth, sophistication, and style.

Statement pieces can bring personality and energy to a room. Whether it’s a cognac-colored leather couch, an abstract art piece that sparks conversation, or a bold-patterned rug, these elements transform a space from ordinary to unforgettable.

Accent furniture and unique decor selections help establish a strong aesthetic, but another impactful way to elevate a room is through textured walls. Vertical wood slats, decorative molding, and intricate wall treatments introduce depth and complexity without overwhelming the space.

As seen in the image above, the combination of decor and furniture creates a well-balanced look, but it’s the textured wall that truly defines the space. By pairing soft hues and understated

decor with a standout wall, the result is a harmonious blend of contrast and cohesion—one that naturally draws attention and invites conversation.

Furniture design is embracing softer, sculptural silhouettes that bring a sense of flow and sophistication to a space. Rounded edges, curved sofas, and organic shapes add both comfort and elegance, seamlessly complementing earthy tones and statement pieces.

A curved accent chair or an arched console table introduces movement and balance, preventing a space from feeling too rigid or structured. By integrating these smooth, flowing forms with natural textures and warm hues, the result is a refined, inviting atmosphere that feels both modern and timeless.

INNOVATION MEETS

ARTISTRY

Kitchen design has entered a transformative era, where innovation meets artistry to create spaces that are not only functional but also personal and sustainable. With advancements in technology, materials and craftsmanship, today’s kitchens are tailored to meet the evolving needs and tastes of homeowners.

According to interior designer Laura McCroskey, kitchens today are about more than just cooking—they’re an expression of personal lifestyle.

“Kitchen design has entered an exciting time where the possibilities feel limitless,” says McCroskey. “For me, the design process starts before lines are ever drawn on a construction document. I believe in creating spaces that enhance life, both functionally and aesthetically. The design process begins with a discussion about what a space needs to do, and what aesthetic will bring a spark to the homeowner.

I also firmly believe that when designing a kitchen, one should walk out a recipe to make sure everything is in the right place to suit one’s lifestyle. Cooking zones are imperative to a well-designed kitchen.”

Modern kitchens emphasize zoning, or the creation of dedicated areas for preparation, cooking and storage, to enhance workflow and functionality. These zones not only improve efficiency but also contribute to a cohesive and visually appealing aesthetic.

Cutting-edge rendering software, utilizing technology similar to that used in gaming, allows homeowners to visualize their dream kitchens in hyper-realistic detail. While these tools inspire creativity, McCroskey advises balancing ambitious ideas with practical implementation to achieve the best results.

Technology, sustainability and customization are driving the revolution in kitchen design. Advanced appliances are at the forefront, enhancing convenience while aligning with a growing emphasis on eco-friendliness.

“From vacuum-sealing drawers that preserve food and reduce waste to smart appliances controlled by your phone, the emphasis is on efficiency and sustainability. Functional storage built seamlessly into marble countertops and oversized workstation sinks are making daily tasks easier and more enjoyable. Thoughtful features like composting compartments

THE HEART OF THE HOME

and advanced food preservation methods reflect a broader effort to minimize waste and reduce environmental impact.”

Custom cabinetry that maximizes every inch of space minimizes waste while optimizing functionality.

“Forget the limits of traditional cabinetry. Blind corners, tiny nooks and hidden areas are now designed to maximize storage. Automated drawers and pop-up outlets are becoming increasingly common, marrying convenience with sleek aesthetics.”

Design trends have also evolved, becoming more flexible to reflect individual tastes.

“While white kitchens remain timeless and black adds drama, bleached woods continue to be popular. Style trends are no longer as rigid—whether you prefer modern, transitional, or traditional designs, you can create a kitchen tailored to your unique vision. There’s no limit to what you can achieve with today’s tools and technologies. The goal is to create spaces that resonate deeply with the people who live in them.”

The kitchen is the heart of every home and represents a space of endless possibility. Whether your aesthetic leans modern, farmhouse or somewhere in between, the tools and technologies available today make it easier than ever to bring your vision to life.

Positive Energy and Balance

Simple strategies to energize your home and life with Feng Shui

An often overlooked aspect of home design is the intention behind a layout. The practice of Feng Shui (“fuhng shway”) addresses this by focusing on how the arrangement of space impacts the flow of energy. Feng Shui, which translates to “wind water” in Chinese, is a centuries-old system of laws that governs spatial orientation, ensuring harmony with the surrounding environment and the energy, or “Qi,” that flows through it.

This ancient practice has stood the test of time, gaining even more relevance in today’s design world, where its aesthetic appeal and ability to foster a positive mindset are embraced. Feng Shui encourages thoughtful, intentional placement of furniture and decor while emphasizing de-cluttering and the strategic use of space to promote well-being and productivity.

Feng Shui is based on five elements— Wood, Fire, Earth, Metal, and Water. Each element embodies a specific energy and is associated with distinct colors. Understanding these elements can help you design spaces that resonate with the intended energy you wish to cultivate.

Here’s a breakdown of the elements:

• Wood: Growth and new beginningsgreens and blues

• Earth: Stability, self-care, and grounding - browns, oranges, and yellows

• Fire: Passion, illumination, and brightness - reds

• Metal: Clarity, focus, precision, and beauty - whites and metallics

• Water: Peaceful, calming energy that flows - blacks

By creating a space of balance and harmony, you can design a luxurious, intentional environment that nurtures both beauty and positivity.

Like nature itself, these elements must be balanced. For instance, an overabundance of the fire element may create chaos, but the calming presence of water can balance this out. In a room dominated by red tones (fire), introducing black (water) can help tone down the energy and introduce peace.

When incorporating Feng Shui, the layout of a room and the intention behind the space are just as important as the specific items you choose. Feng Shui allows for creativity in how you use the five elements in your design. For example, a combination of a brown suede couch (earth), green plants (wood), red decor pieces (fire), black lamps (water), and gold frames (metal) can create a balanced, harmonious environment.

What truly brings Feng Shui to life, however, is how the room is arranged with intentionality. Let’s consider a home office as an example. An office should reflect focus, productivity, and success. To achieve this, position your desk in what’s called the "command position"—facing the door, but not directly aligned with it. This placement symbolizes control and authority. Additionally, your office should be clutter-free and well-lit to invite positivity, clarity, and strong focus.

Think about the calm you feel when you walk into a clean, organized home. There’s a sense of relief that comes from the absence of clutter and the clear flow of energy. That’s the essence of Feng Shui. By creating a space of balance and harmony, you can design a luxurious, intentional environment that nurtures both beauty and positivity.

THE POWER OF PLANTS

THE BENEFIT OF BRINGING NATURE INDOORS

With spring in full bloom in Fort Collins and the vibrant colors popping in Old Town flower beds, it’s the perfect time to start cultivating a greener space of your own. Not only can plants enhance your home’s aesthetics, but they also offer a wide array of health benefits. From improving air quality to reducing stress and even regulating humidity, plants are far more than just decorative accents. Here’s a guide to some ideal plants for your home, along with the ways they can elevate both your decor and lifestyle.

SNAKE PLANT

POTHOS

Pothos is a favorite among plant enthusiasts due to its easy care and attractive heartshaped leaves. It thrives in bright, indirect sunlight and needs to be watered just once every 1-2 weeks. Benefits: Air purification, stress relief, and low-maintenance care.

The Snake Plant, also known as mother-inlaw's tongue, brings an art deco vibe to your space and is excellent for removing toxins from the air. It grows best in warm, bright areas with indirect sunlight and should be watered only when the soil is dry, roughly every two weeks. Benefits: Air purification, allergy relief, and better sleep (by converting carbon dioxide into oxygen).

PEACE LILY

Peace Lilies are not only beautiful but also functional, helping to purify the air and regulate humidity. They require more attention than some plants, thriving in bright, indirect sunlight with consistently moist soil. Water them weekly and mist the leaves during hot months. Benefits: Humidity regulation, oxygen production, and mold absorption.

A true statement piece, the Monstera’s large, unique leaves immediately enhance any room. It thrives in medium to bright, indirect light and benefits from a slightly humid environment. Water every 1-2 weeks. Benefits: Air quality improvement, low-maintenance, and absorbs pollutants like formaldehyde.

MONSTERA

SPIDER PLANT

BAMBOO

As the fastest-growing plant on Earth, Bamboo makes a bold, luxurious statement but does require consistent care. It flourishes with at least 6 hours of bright, indirect sunlight and should be watered 3-4 times a week. Benefits: Air quality improvement, good luck, and low-maintenance care.

Known for its cascading leaves, the Spider Plant is easy to care for and thrives in bright, indirect light. It needs light watering once a week. Benefits: Air purification, oxygen release, and stress relief.

FERNS

LAVENDER

Lavender’s delightful fragrance and vibrant color can brighten up any room. It needs direct sunlight and well-draining soil. Newly planted lavender should be watered 1-2 times a week, while established plants only need water every 2-3 weeks. Benefits: Stress relief, relaxation, aromatics, and culinary uses (perfect for making tea!).

As one of the oldest plant species, ferns bring an air of timeless elegance to any space. They prefer shaded areas and need regular watering every 4-5 days during warmer months. Benefits: Air quality improvement, erosion prevention (when planted outside), and shade for other plants.

The Rubber Plant features large, glossy leaves and can add a calm, soothing aesthetic to your home. It requires bright, indirect sunlight and should be watered every 1-2 weeks. Though it may take time to adjust indoors, it’s a durable, low-maintenance option. Benefits: Air purification, low pollen production, and long-lasting beauty.

The ZZ Plant is perfect for beginners, with its tolerance for low light and minimal watering needs. It can grow to a height of 2-3 feet, and sometimes up to 5 feet. Benefits: Air purification, stress relief, and is associated with good luck and growth.

ZZ PLANT HERBS

RUBBER PLANT SUCCULENTS

Succulents come in an array of shapes and colors, making them versatile in decor. These drought-tolerant plants need minimal care and grow best in bright, sunny spots with indirect light. Water them once every 7-10 days. Benefits: Oxygen production, moisture regulation, and stress reduction.

Herbs like basil, mint, and thyme not only brighten up your home but also offer aromatic and culinary benefits. They grow best in direct sunlight and need regular watering, some up to 2-3 times per week for established plants. Benefits: Culinary uses, health benefits when consumed, and aromatic properties.
