LMS offers an authentic Montessori program from early childhood through high school, adhering to principles and scientific methods for your child’s development.
The elementary learning environment (grades 1-6) fosters independence and focus through individual or small group work, natural lighting, soft colors, and organized, accessible materials. New students quickly adapt to Montessori’s hands-on, interest-driven teaching. The classroom is a vibrant, happy community where students explore, create, and reflect, with teachers offering support and introducing new material as needed. Clear expectations are balanced with openended opportunities, promoting both comfort and inspiration for learning.
Our Secondary Montessori program serves 7th - 10th grade with expansion of grade levels each year.
We integrate rigorous academics with purposeful work, preparing students to become selfconfident, contributing adults. Our approach addresses adolescents’ physical, emotional, social, and cognitive growth, fostering creativity, critical thinking, and independence. Beyond challenging their intellect, compassion, diplomacy and collaboration are developed through personally experiencing human and nature interdependence. Students also learn business and entrepreneurship skills through hands-on participation in real economic activity provided by Laniakea’s micro-economy program.
We are accepting 3 new students to join our Secondary program. Students must have a strong work ethic with a positive behavior record.
INVESTING IN -
What does investing mean to you? Here at City Lifestyle, we see investing in many forms – investing in our homes, ourselves and our wellness, our families, and of course, our finances. Investment by definition is the act of devoting time, effort, energy, or money to a particular undertaking with the expectation of a worthwhile result. We can invest in our community by supporting our many local businesses and local organizations, as well as the arts and our stellar live performances.
In this issue, we cover several different ways to invest. Investing in our health, self-care, and even in our physical appearance - is proactive and enhances our overall well-being and self-confidence. Real estate purchases and home improvement projects and upgrades can also be wonderful investments as they tend to make us feel so much better about our very favorite place – our home.
While investing in ourselves, relationships, community and finances can look very different from person to person, the effort we put into these areas of our lives are done with the common goal of having a positive impact that yields results. In this issue, we wanted to share (from some local experts and business owners), about some of the very different ways that we can invest and all the positive outcomes that investing, in whatever we invest in, will yield.
We hope you have some great takeaways that are helpful for you. And see you around town!

CUSTOM HOME INSIGHTS WITH JOHN F. CRAWFORD
Building
Dreams
ARTICLE BY ASHLEA & JOHN F. CRAWFORD
PHOTOGRAPHY BY BLUEHOUR PHOTOGRAPHY
Ashlea & John F. Crawford
CAN YOU GIVE ME A LITTLE BIT OF BACKGROUND TO HOW YOU LANDED AS A CUSTOM HOME BUILDER?
“I actually am a third-generation home builder. My dad was a custom home builder and a framer. Throughout my life I worked various jobs within the industry. When I met my wife she pushed me to take the leap and do what I love to do… build. I consider myself a lifelong learner, and took the approach of being open minded, asking questions, and seeking advice from those with knowledge to share.”
WITH HOMES BEING THE LARGEST INVESTMENT FOR MOST FAMILIES, WHAT DO YOU RECOMMEND?
“I recommend that future homeowners do their research. The initial cost of building a home can be overwhelming. Land prices, construction, permits, materials, labor, and design fees all add up. For most families, this means taking on a mortgage or securing financing. First-time homebuyers often invest much of their savings.
Beyond finances, building a home is emotional. Families spend decades raising children, creating memories, and experiencing milestones, making the decision deeply personal. Location and community impact satisfaction and whether the investment feels worthwhile.
Research builders by reading reviews, checking references, and visiting past projects. Homeowner feedback provides insight into reliability, communication, and performance. A good builder listens, offers guidance, and ensures your vision aligns with structural feasibility and budget, preventing costly mistakes. Choosing the right builder protects your family’s investment.”

HYPNOTHERAPY AND WELLNESS
Hypnotherapy has a robust scientific framework. Research shows a 93% success rate, and is currently recommended by the Mayo Clinic and the American Psychological Association. It is useful for pain relief, trauma, anxiety, smoking cessation, weight loss, insomnia, phobias, and other unwanted feelings and behaviors. Hypnotherapy is also used for pre-surgery anxiety and cancer treatment side effects.
Outdated myths include loss of personal control, revealing secrets against individual will, or getting “stuck” in hypnosis. Acute awareness and recall of the entire session are standard. Hypnotherapy is a gently induced relaxation process which helps clients overcome unwanted issues. Hypnotherapy is formally recognized as a viable, life enhancing treatment for mental health and improved quality of life!

INVEST IN Your Aging Skin
EXOSOMES: A NOVEL TREATMENT FOR YOUNGER-LOOKING SKIN
ARTICLE BY WENDY WIGGS APRN-C OWNER OF PRP REGENERATION SPECIALISTS, LLC
PHOTOGRAPHY BY ADRIENNE FLETCHER
Skin aging is a natural process that results in visible changes such as wrinkles, fine lines, sagging, dryness, and age spots. Factors like genetics, hormonal shifts, sun exposure, smoking, pollution, poor diet, and lack of sleep can accelerate these signs of aging.
A revolutionary new treatment using exosomes is transforming skincare by helping to regenerate and rejuvenate aging skin. Exosomes are tiny extracellular vesicles that play a crucial role in cell communication, promoting healing and tissue repair. They work by reducing oxidative stress, increasing collagen and elastin production, decreasing inflammation, and encouraging damaged cells to regenerate.
One of the most advanced exosome-based skincare products available is Lilium One®. The product is derived from c-section mothers in the United States who donate the placenta and umbilical cord tissue to research after the baby is born. This cosmetic solution contains approximately 35 billion exosomes per cc, along with over 300 biologically active cytokines, growth factors, natural human-derived hyaluronic acid (HA), and the Klotho protein. These components can work together to improve skin health, hydration, and elasticity. HA is known for its powerful moisture-retaining properties, which plump the skin and reduce fine lines and wrinkles. Meanwhile, Klotho helps enhance skin tone and texture, further combating visible signs of aging.
A highly effective way to deliver Lilium One® into the skin is through microneedling. This minimally invasive procedure creates tiny microchannels in the skin, allowing the exosomes and active ingredients to penetrate deeply for optimal rejuvenation. Microneedling with Lilium One® may improve skin tone, enhance texture, reduce the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines, and have the potential to reverse sun damage. The treatment is safe, virtually painless, and requires minimal downtime, only 24 hours without makeup while offering results that can last up to six months or longer.
For those looking to invest in their skin’s future, exosome therapy with Lilium One® provides a cutting-edge treatment option for skin rejuvenation.

MEET DR. DAVID MATEO
Dr. David Mateo de Acosta Andino
“If I had to describe my philosophy in three words, they would be kindness, personalization, and precision.”
For Dr. David Mateo de Acosta Andino, plastic surgery is about more than aesthetics—it’s about confidence and self-empowerment. As a board-certified plastic surgeon at North Florida Plastic Surgery, he combines surgical precision with artistry to create natural, beautiful results.
What truly sets Dr. Mateo apart is his compassionate approach to patient care. “If I had to describe my philosophy in three words, they would be kindness, personalization, and precision,” he shares. “Every patient is unique, and I take the time to truly understand their goals, customizing each procedure to complement their natural beauty.” At the heart of his work is a belief that plastic surgery is not just about aesthetics—it’s about investing in yourself. “When you feel good about how you look, it radiates into all aspects of your life. It’s not about changing who you are, but enhancing what makes you feel your best.”
Originally from Havana, Cuba, Dr. Mateo trained globally before settling in Gainesville with his wife and two daughters. Specializing in body contouring after weight loss and pregnancy, his passion is deeply personal. “I struggled with my weight growing up, so I understand the power of self-confidence,” he shares.
Beyond the OR, he starts his day at 4 AM with a workout. And if he weren’t a surgeon? “Formula One driver,” he laughs.
With his expertise, compassion, and dedication to personalized care, Dr. Mateo is transforming lives one procedure at a time—helping his patients embrace self-confidence, wellness, and happiness from the inside out.

Heritage Revival
ARTICLE BY COREY AMIRA
High Springs Parade home by Corey Amira, Custom Home Builder
Corey Amira, Custom Home Builder
When designing this home on Main Street in High Springs, we wanted it to fit in with the other 100-year-old homes in Downtown High Springs on the exterior, while offering charming, but modern, features on the interior. We took every feature under historical consideration, to make sure the home finished with the ‘feel’ we were going for. Common construction materials have changed a ton over the last 100 years, so we specifically chose less commonly used materials to give our home a more timeless appearance.
WHAT ARE SOME OF THE HISTORICALLY INSPIRED FEATURES ON THIS HOME?
• Pre-1945, all period-era windows would have been wood, so this was a defining feature for us on this home. We went with a white aluminum exterior, so that these windows will hold up much better over time than the traditional wood windows did, but we went with a stained pine interior to really lean into that wood window look and feel. The wood windows we used are around 3x the cost of your typical vinyl windows, but they were integral to giving the home the historical feel we were going for.
• Virtually all 100 year old homes were raised on a crawl space, so we opted to go with a raised stem wall that had a brick wainscoting to give our home a similar look.
• 5V metal roofs are the historically accurate metal roof profile in our area, so it was important to us to match that on this home. Fortunately, the local metal suppliers offer this profile for those looking for that historically accurate profile.
• All older homes would have had a fireplace to heat the home in the winter; we made sure to include a brick fireplace in this home for that reason.

Health is a Priceless Wealth!
ARTICLE BY DAWN SMITH, MD
How much time do you spend each day on your health and wellness? Nutrition, exercise, and stress management are pillars of overall health. As life gets hectic, we often put ourselves last and it becomes easy to prioritize other things above our well-being. There are ways to improve in these areas that are easy to implement and can provide great results.
With convenience often taking precedence over nutritional value, planning ahead – through meal prepping and looking at restaurant menus ahead of time – can make it easy to have healthy options at your disposal. It can help save money too!
While our bodies are made to move, our lifestyles often involve spending most of the day sitting. Simple changes like using a standing desk, walking more during the day, or even stretching for a few minutes every hour can add up to a lot of extra movement over time. Increasing the amount and intensity of movement gradually will make exercise feel more achievable and sustainable.
Managing stress and improving sleep can help your overall wellness. Stress can lead to overeating, trouble sleeping, and poor exercise habits. Taking time to focus on activities like practicing relaxation techniques or taking short walks outside at regular intervals can help lower stress levels throughout the day. A consistent evening routine and a calm environment can improve sleep quality at night.
Investing in your health and well-being now can yield big returns – both for your body and your wallet.

YOUR CHILD’S INVEST IN FUTURE
Christina Miller
Owner/Head of School: Millhopper Montessori School, LLC
ARTICLE BY CHRISTINA MILLER OWNER/HEAD OF SCHOOL MILLHOPPER MONTESSORI SCHOOL, LLC
Parents should be able to invest in their child’s future by sending them to a school that best fits their educational needs. School choice is a term that has its roots in allowing parents to choose which school to send their children within their district. It has expanded to become a broader term that now includes other alternative options. With the Florida Scholarship program in effect, it opens the opportunity for private tuition-based schools to be a choice as well.
Along with the public schools, for which families are zoned, there are magnets, charters, parochial, and private independent schools, as well as the choice to home school. Following COVID-19’s impact on school choice, we now have the additional choice of virtual learning.
In the independent private school sector, there are an abundance of choices. Research studies have shown that having options in education creates a better school system and the competitive factor leads to outcomes of improved academics.
Selecting a school also requires parents to make more decisions. Not all public schools go through an accreditation process and not all private schools do. Accreditation agencies vary, and this requires a higher level of scrutiny for parents. It is important to always ask if the school is accredited and by whom.
Accrediting organizations promote professional, ethical, and educational excellence while assuring that their member schools maintain high standards and independence. For a private independent school, independence allows a school to set its curriculum and standards apart from financial and administrative governmental restraints.
Choosing the best avenue to direct your investments can be daunting. Investing in your child’s future by choosing the best school for their individual needs is now possible and can be your priority.
