LMS offers an authentic Montessori program from early childhood through high school, adhering to principles and scientific methods for your child’s development.
The elementary learning environment (grades 1-6) fosters independence and focus through individual or small group work, natural lighting, soft colors, and organized, accessible materials. New students quickly adapt to Montessori’s hands-on, interest-driven teaching. The classroom is a vibrant, happy community where students explore, create, and reflect, with teachers offering support and introducing new material as needed. Clear expectations are balanced with openended opportunities, promoting both comfort and inspiration for learning.
Our Secondary Montessori program serves 7th - 10th grade with expansion of grade levels each year.
We integrate rigorous academics with purposeful work, preparing students to become selfconfident, contributing adults. Our approach addresses adolescents’ physical, emotional, social, and cognitive growth, fostering creativity, critical thinking, and independence. Beyond challenging their intellect, compassion, diplomacy and collaboration are developed through personally experiencing human and nature interdependence. Students also learn business and entrepreneurship skills through hands-on participation in real economic activity provided by Laniakea’s micro-economy program.
We are accepting 3 new students to join our Secondary program. Students must have a strong work ethic with a positive behavior record.

Enhance Your Beauty With BOTOX®
Getting older is a natural part of life, but the effects of aging can result in the presence of wrinkles, crow ’ s feet, and smile lines. Cellular changes in the body, sun damage, reduced collagen production, and deep muscle contractions in the face all contribute to the look of deep-set wrinkles and facial lines
At Gainesville Dermatology Aesthetic Center, we strive to provide the most professional and quality care possible to our clients. Give us a call today to schedule your BOTOX® consultation with one of our highly trained and experienced injectors.
The Home and Design Issue
Home. So much contained in that little four-letter word that conveys so much and can mean so many different things to everyone. Home is where the heart is. It’s our grounding. Our base. Our launchpad. It’s where we start and end each day. And while the particulars look different for each of us, the meaning and value it holds for all of us is undeniable. It is meant to be a place of retreat, rest, love, and a shelter from the outside world - a place where you can let your guard down and just be.
Welcome to our March issue where we’re all about Home and Design. Creating a home that you want to spend all of your time in isn’t easy. The memories that are made within the walls of our home are what last regardless of if our home has the latest trends or if it hasn’t been updated in years. While it is fun to look at beautiful homes and dream about renovations, we all know that the love we share in our homes is truly what matters most.
In this year’s Home issue, we’re featuring local and unique home builders – all offering something different, catered to your individual needs. We’re also showcasing interior design style experts to share current trends, and a closet/space specialist to help us get organized.
And March is the month of Spring, which means events and activities are all around us, and you’ll find a great lineup of stuff to do within our events pages. You’ll also see all the fun we always have captured in our City Scene pages. Happy beginning of Spring, from our home to yours. And see you around town!

CLOSET TRENDS: WHAT’S HOT IN 2025
ARTICLE BY AMANDA CARREON & KATE CATON
2025 is ushering in a fresh era for custom closet design, where functionality, luxury, and personal style converge!
One of the most notable trends is the return of color and texture. Rich terracotta, warm greens, and bold blues are dominating the color palette. These natural hues, combined with tactile finishes like velvet drawers and wood-grain surfaces, will elevate your closet to a stylish retreat. Pair the elegance of wood tones with bold colors to infuse warmth and sophistication or mix things up by integrating new textures and tactile finishes like acrylic, metal, and glass for a modern experience.
You will also see design flexibility at the forefront of 2025 expectations as multifunctioning spaces are becoming a must-have for new and experienced homeowners. Being able to easily customize and adjust shelving, rods, and drawers to fit ever-revolving needs seasonally or through life changes is quickly becoming the EXPECTATION over the EXCEPTION. Closet design adaptability offers the perfect blend of form and function to fit your needs wherever life might take you.
At A Divine Closet, we’re excited to help you navigate and find the perfect custom design that fits both your needs and your style in 2025!

TRENDY or TIMELESS
Design trends are ever-evolving, with manufacturers showcasing new products to designers and store owners at international markets in Atlanta, High Point, Las Vegas, and Dallas. Staying updated on these trends helps determine what appeals to homeowners.
For do-it-yourself enthusiasts, choosing neutral furniture provides a versatile foundation. Incorporating color through easily replaceable accessories like throw pillows, area rugs, lamps, lighting, and window coverings can significantly alter a room’s style. Additionally, paint is a cost-effective option to transform the atmosphere.
Designers can seamlessly blend these elements to create a trendy yet timeless design tailored to the homeowner’s lifestyle and preferences. This approach ensures the space remains current and adaptable to changing trends while reflecting the homeowner’s unique personality.
By focusing on versatile and easily updated components, homeowners can enjoy a stylish and enduring design without frequent, costly overhauls. Incorporating personal touches and staying informed about emerging trends further enhances a home’s interior appeal.
Ultimately, the goal is to achieve a harmonious balance between trendy and timeless aesthetics, resulting in a space that feels both fresh and enduring.
All products pictured are available through The Home Place, 105 SW 140th Court Suite 2 in Jonesville, FL.

CUSTOM HOME BUILDING with Corey Amira
ARTICLE BY COREY AMIRA
Corey Amira
What is the first step of the custom home building process?
I typically start with an initial consultation to go over where my clients are looking to build, and what they are looking to build. We will discuss the land they have purchased, or are looking at, and any potential considerations based on the property. We will also look at potential floor plan options and specs/features that the client is interested in to get a feel for the style they’re looking for, and what will fit their needs.
Is there standard pricing for a custom home?
Every home I build is priced differently because the layout and features are unique to each home. On top of shape differences (wall height, extra corners, steeper roof, etc), each home has different specs to meet that particular client’s wants and needs. In general, pricing for my homes currently under construction range from $200-$350 per square foot.
Where do I build?
I live in Alachua, so I typically build about 45 minutes each direction from Alachua; this includes Gainesville, Newberry, Archer, Williston, Bronson, Trenton, Bell, Fort White, Lake City, High Springs, Worthington Springs, Lacrosse, and Waldo.
How long does it take to build a custom home?
It depends on the size and complexity of the home. Once I receive a building permit, construction usually takes 6-12 months. Before construction begins, bank financing typically takes around 2 months, and permitting also takes around 2 months, depending on the city/county building department where the property is located.

FOR ADULTS A HOUSE AND CHILDREN
Christina Miller
Owner/Head of School: Millhopper Montessori School
ARTICLE BY CHRISTINA MILLER OWNER/HEAD OF SCHOOL: MILLHOPPER MONTESSORI SCHOOL
Home is where the heart is, as the saying goes. For Children to find their sense of belonging they need to participate in the routines of home life. If your home is designed for your entire family, your children need to be able to be as independent as possible and be able to contribute to the daily operation of maintaining a home.
In the kitchen and dining room, if this area is designed with children in mind, there should be some lower shelves and cabinets and a low table for a workspace. Shelling peas, setting the table, and a degree of patience while they are learning to fine tune their abilities. Even cleaning up a spill is an opportunity to learn to clean up a mess and be independent.
Children are drawn to water and the bathroom is the perfect place to learn the care of oneself. Platform stools to assist with height and small towels that can be hung on low hooks, and a small basket or tray with their soap and washcloth are all in one place will reinforce their sense of order and independence.
A child’s bedroom should be designed for independence. Bed coverings should be light so a child can make their own bed, and again, a low table and chairs should be included. A bedside lamp can be placed in a way so a child can turn it on at night to use the bathroom. Shelves should be accessible so they can return toys to “their place’ when not using them and a full-length mirror so they can manage self-care as much as possible.
Extended child inclusive design extends easily into the living room and even the outdoor areas, for a house designed for the whole family gives children a help to life.
