Investment isn’t just about finances—it’s about where we place our time, energy and resources to build something meaningful. In this issue, we’re exploring the many ways to invest—in our community, in the businesses around us and in the things we cherish most.
Gallatin thrives because of those who choose to invest in it. Supporting local businesses, attending events and volunteering all contribute to building a vibrant, lasting community. Every small action contributes to a stronger, more connected town—one where people feel valued and businesses flourish.
Beyond financial investments, we’re also talking about taking care of what we already have—our homes, heirlooms and treasured belongings. Whether it’s maintaining a classic piece of furniture, restoring a family treasure or making smart choices to extend the life of what we love, caring for our investments ensures their value for years to come.
Let’s not forget the power of new beginnings, either. Every business that opens represents someone’s dream taking flight—an investment in both vision and hard work. By supporting entrepreneurs and fresh ideas, we all contribute to Gallatin’s continued success.
Gallatin is a city worth investing in, and we’re honored to tell the stories of those doing just that. As we step into spring, let’s consider where we invest our time, resources and support. Every choice we make impacts the future—let’s ensure we’re building something truly lasting.

LOCAL ENTREPRENEURS REFLECT ON WHAT IT MEANS TO OPEN AND OPERATE THRIVING LOCAL BUSINESSES

We wanted to find a community where we could raise our children. Gallatin is such an amazing community that makes everyone feel welcomed, and we knew during our first visit it was where we wanted to settle our family. Shine PDO has been very active in becoming a part of the Gallatin community. We have sponsored the Liberty Creek Middle School PTO, are very active members of the Gallatin Chamber and work to educate children and their families on proper oral healthcare and the importance of establishing a dental home as a child.
Opening a business in Gallatin was an easy decision because it immediately felt like this was where we were meant to be. My wife and I have been here for four months, and we already feel so welcomed by everyone. Gallatin supports new businesses and helps the community grow together. Through chiropractic care, we will be helping kids in the community be the healthiest versions of themselves. We would love to make a positive impact on the lives of the children of Gallatin.

General Manager
Gallatin is a growing and thriving community with a reputation for enjoying high-quality food! The opportunity to bring Soulshine Pizza to the area was one we couldn’t pass up, and we are excited to be a part of the next steps for the community. We proudly support our community by partnering with local schools and churches to raise funds and provide meals for volunteers at events. Additionally, we honor our dedicated emergency services personnel with special discounts as a token of appreciation for their service.
Morgan Butler, General Manager
When we heard of the opportunity to open in Gallatin, it was an easy decision. It only took a couple of visits to see what a great place it is. With the location being so close to Hendersonville, we hope to be able to serve and be a part of both communities. We always open a new location with what we call "Charity Night," where we choose a local nonprofit to donate our sales for that day. We chose Grace Place Ministry and had a big turnout to kick things off.
Joshua Works, Manager

Overall, we want to help them be healthier, stronger and have more energy for their daily life, as well as provide a place for people to feel like they belong.

Marketing is the heartbeat of any successful business. In today’s competitive landscape, it’s no longer enough to simply offer a great product or service—business owners must invest in strategies that amplify their brand, foster community connections and create lasting customer loyalty. But here’s the good news: effective marketing doesn’t have to be overwhelming or out of reach. With a thoughtful, strategic approach, marketing becomes one of the most powerful investments a business can make.
As we focus on investments this April, it’s the perfect time to shift the conversation from marketing as a cost to marketing as an opportunity—a smart investment with tangible rewards. The best part? You don’t need a massive budget to make a big impact. From leveraging local partnerships to refining your brand’s storytelling, small yet strategic steps can lead to significant outcomes. Marketing done right means positioning your business where it matters most: in front of the right audience, at the right time, with the right message.
We know the importance of empowering business owners with actionable insights that not only capture attention but also drive meaningful growth. Whether you’re a seasoned entrepreneur or just starting out, these proven marketing strategies will help your business stand out, build trust and become top-of-mind in your community. In a community-driven place like Gallatin, investing in marketing means investing in relationships—and that’s the kind of growth that truly lasts.
After spending the last 17+ years in the Marketing, Advertising and Publishing world—and dedicating my entire educational and professional pursuits to being effective and innovative in these fields—here are my Top 6 Tips for businesses, both new and established, that want to stand out and be seen in today’s marketplace:
People buy from brands they trust, and trust is built through connection. Share your business’s journey, your "why," and the passion behind what you do. Don’t just highlight products or services—tell the stories that resonate with your audience. Use client success stories, behind-the-scenes peeks and team spotlights to humanize your brand. In a community-driven market like Gallatin, people support people they know and stories that resonate.
Relying solely on one platform—be it social media, print ads or word-of-mouth—is risky. An effective marketing strategy is multi-channel. Use social media for engagement, email newsletters for consistent communication, local publications for community trust and a well-optimized website for conversions. Consistency across these platforms builds top-of-mind awareness and trust.

3. LEVERAGE LOCAL PARTNERSHIPS
Community partnerships are a powerful investment. Collaborate with complementary businesses for cross-promotions, co-host events or sponsor local initiatives. These partnerships strengthen your local presence, introduce you to new audiences and position your business as invested in the community’s growth.
4. FOCUS ON LONG-TERM BRAND POSITIONING
Short-term tactics might yield quick wins, but longterm strategic positioning is where the true ROI lies. Define your brand’s voice, values and visual identity— and ensure consistency across all platforms. How do you want your business to be perceived a year from now? Invest in a marketing approach that reflects that vision.
5. POST CONSISTENTLY ON SOCIAL MEDIA
Regular posting keeps your business top-of-mind. Plan a content calendar and stick to it, sharing updates, stories and relevant content that connects with your audience.
6. FOCUS ON BUILDING GENUINE RELATIONSHIPS
Effective marketing is rooted in trust and connection. Prioritize authentic interactions with your audience without immediately steering the conversation toward sales. Attend community events, share stories that resonate and engage in meaningful conversations online. When customers feel genuinely valued and understood, they naturally become loyal supporters of your business.

Diversifying your marketing is essential for long-term success. Relying on just one platform—social media, print ads or word-of-mouth—limits your reach and growth. A strong strategy integrates multiple channels, ensuring your brand stays visible, adaptable and connected to your audience. The right mix amplifies impact and drives lasting business success.

GL: MANY PEOPLE DON’T REALIZE THAT VALUABLE ITEMS, LIKE JEWELRY AND ART, NEED TO BE APPRAISED REGULARLY TO MAINTAIN ACCURATE COVERAGE. HOW OFTEN SHOULD HOMEOWNERS UPDATE THEIR APPRAISALS? WHAT TYPE OF INSURANCE POLICIES BEST PROTECT ASSETS?
EHJ: We always recommend people reach out to us any time there is a new purchase or life event. Many people think jewelry and firearms are automatically covered, but that is not the case. As far as jewelry, as long as the appraisal has been updated in the past three years, we can use that as the value to insure. I encourage everyone to have all valuable items reappraised every three years. Many people inherit sentimental pieces, and all of this can be added to your home policy.

GL: WHAT ARE THE MOST COMMON MISTAKES HOMEOWNERS MAKE WHEN INSURING HIGH-VALUE POSSESSIONS? WHAT SECURITY MEASURES DO INSURERS RECOMMEND FOR STORING HIGH-VALUE ITEMS IN A SAFE?
BB: Homeowners often don’t understand the limitations of the standard homeowner’s policy; these policies have very small limits on payouts for valuables like jewelry, furs and firearms. My advice is to take inventory of your possessions and review it with your insurance agent. They can identify coverage gaps and help you find the right solution. Proactive communication with your agent is key. Using a certified fire-resistant safe is an effective way to safeguard smaller, high-value items while typically providing a discount on your insurance premiums. Professionally monitored home security systems can help you save on insuring your high-value items as well.
