Happy New Year!
As we ring in 2025, I want to thank you all for reading along with us in my first year as the publisher of this magazine.
I was lucky to have met some wonderful people through this publication and am reflecting on so many fun memories over the past year. We wouldn’t be able to do this without our incredible partners that I’m grateful for every day.
Even though nothing has changed besides the date, the new year is a great time to reflect on what went well and what didn’t from the year prior. If you’re a nerd like me, I start each New Year’s Day with a pen and paper making my list of intentions for the year ahead. Notice I said intentions, not resolutions? Whatever your intentions are for 2025, we wish you a happy, healthy, peaceful, and prosperous new year ahead!
For our first issue of 2025, we’ve curated a list of our favorites from across the city for you to check out. We hear from Reble Houten, owner of Row House Fitness - Henderson on how her and her husband David’s passion for rowing led them to launch the first-of-its-kind rowing facility here in the valley. Clay Health & Care shares the story of powerful health transformation. And we learn about our community being the very first in the country to open a one-of-a-kind Healing Center.
As always, we hope you love it, and cheers to 2025!

Transforming Health Journeys
Inside Clay Health's revolutionary approach to holistic care
In today’s healthcare landscape, finding a provider focused on root causes rather than symptom management is rare. However, Clay Health and Care (clayhealthandcare.com) is redefining healthcare by combining advanced technology, proactive strategies, and a holistic wellness focus to address the full range of patient needs—from mental well-being to physical optimization. In a recent interview, CEO Joel Nelson shared how Clay Health prioritizes “healthspan” over simply extending lifespan, transforming the healthcare experience for families.
A PROACTIVE, HOLISTIC HEALTH MODEL
Unlike conventional or even concierge healthcare, Clay Health focuses on identifying the root causes of health issues while integrating often-overlooked wellness aspects. Joel shared that Clay Health was born from frustration with a reactive healthcare system that frequently waits until issues escalate. In contrast, Clay Health’s model begins with a comprehensive assessment and continues through a continuum of care that includes stabilization, mobilization, and optimization. By emphasizing lifestyle factors, Clay Health helps patients establish and maintain healthy routines. “Proactive health is greater than reactive care,” Joel emphasized.
HEALTH OPTIMIZATION INSPIRED BY HIGH PERFORMERS
Clay Health offers health optimization strategies typically reserved for high performers, including elite athletes. Their approach involves in-depth assessments such as blood work and metabolic testing, paired with personalized exercise and nutrition plans. This personalized care approach has led to measurable improvements in patients’ health, highlighted by numerous success stories showcasing the effectiveness of these protocols.
“Our philosophy is that everyone should have access to the kind of healthcare support high performers receive,” Joel stated. “It’s not just about addressing today’s concerns but building a foundation for long-term health.”

“Healthspan isn't just about living longer, it's about maintaining a high quality of life throughout the years you have”
REDEFINING LONGEVITY WITH THE FIVE PILLARS OF HEALTH
A unique element of Clay Health’s philosophy is its emphasis on "healthspan"—the years spent in good health—rather than mere longevity. Clay Health’s five core pillars—brain, heart, fuel, body, and blood—form the foundation for achieving comprehensive wellness. “Healthspan isn’t just about living longer,” Joel explained. “It’s about maintaining a high quality of life throughout the years you have.” Clay Health empowers patients to build healthy habits that enhance their daily experience, increasing both lifespan and quality of life.
SPECIALIZED PROGRAMS FOR OPTIMAL HEALTH OUTCOMES
To support patients’ wellness goals, Clay Health provides a range of specialized programs, including:
• Primary care
• Healthy weight management
• Hormone health support
• Integrative chiropractic care
• Chronic condition support
• Advanced blood testing and body composition analysis
• Fitness assessment and one-on-one coaching
OVERCOMING CHALLENGES ON THE HEALTH JOURNEY
Joel discussed the health challenges many face today, from chronic conditions to lifestyle-induced health issues. Clay Health meets patients where they are, helping them regain control of their health with clear guidance from knowledgeable professionals. By integrating advanced technologies, Clay Health enables patients to set realistic health goals and work toward them with expert support.
“Our mission is clear: to empower patients with the knowledge and resources they need to make informed health choices,” Joel shared. “Ultimately, health is the most important asset any of us have. We provide the tools, guidance, and action plans to help every individual take control of their health.”
ROWHOUSE HENDERSON
Reble and David Houten’s journey from education to Row House franchise ownership embodies their commitment to health, inclusivity, and community. Motivated by personal fitness experiences and the desire to introduce low-impact workouts locally, they opened a Row House studio in Henderson. Having experienced rowing’s benefits in Southern California, they saw an opportunity to fill a local fitness gap. In December 2022, they purchased the franchise, relocating to the valley in June 2023 to establish their studio (therowhouse.com/location/henderson) in the Smith's Shopping Center at 215 and Green Valley Parkway, making fitness accessible to the community.
The studio draws a diverse clientele, many of whom are returning to fitness post-injury or addressing health issues like joint replacements or heart conditions. Rowing’s low-impact nature creates a supportive environment where people of all fitness levels feel welcome. In fact, their youngest client is 14 and the oldest is 91!
Building community through fitness

This emphasis on inclusivity and community has fostered a deeply resonant, encouraging atmosphere that supports members on their health journeys.
Row House classes provide a structured, balanced workout focused on cardiovascular and overall fitness. Coaches lead synchronized rowing sessions, allowing participants to adjust their intensity individually. Beyond the studio, David and Reble actively engage with the community, reinforcing Row House’s mission of personal connection and involvement. As hands-on owners, they often row alongside members, enhancing their bond with the community they serve.
David and Reble aim for Row House to be more than a workout—it’s a place for lasting health transformation, especially in heart health. Members track progress via an app, monitoring improvements like increased rowing distance and lower resting heart rates. The couple shares success stories of members who have reduced or even stopped heart medications, highlighting Row House’s positive impact on wellness.
Offering varied classes, including cardio, strength, and stretching, all led by trained coaches, Row House supports members’ individual goals. Special promotions for educators, couples, and franchise-wide offers enhance accessibility. David and Reble actively participate in local events and charity drives, solidifying Row House’s role in the Henderson community. Milestones are celebrated starting with the member’s first 50k to unite members in celebrating each other’s achievements, while the app’s tracking features promote personal goal setting and a sense of accomplishment.
Reflecting on their Henderson experience, David and Reble express gratitude for the community’s support. They have found Henderson to be an ideal home for their studio—a place where inclusivity, health, and community connection thrive, making Row House an integral part of many lives.

MAJOR DONORS MAKE GROUNDBREAKING PROJECT POSSIBLE
The nation's first purpose-built campus for child victims of sex trafficking opened its doors in Southern Nevada, marking a significant milestone in child advocacy. This groundbreaking $25 million Healing Center at St. Jude's Ranch for Children was made possible by the generous contributions of major donors, demonstrating the power of community support in addressing critical social issues. One of the most notable contributors was Gard Jameson, who sponsored a residential home for $1 million. Gard, Founder of CompassionateLV.org, explained the motivation behind his donation: "When my wife, Dr. Florence Jameson, delivers a baby as an OB she always declares the divine sanctity of that child, and so our contribution to St. Jude's Ranch for Children's Healing Center to build The Casa de Compassion was for two reasons: 1) to declare the infinite value of every person who enters the front door of The Healing Center, and 2) to declare that more than ever our world needs the healing balm of Compassion.”
The Healing Center represents a transformative approach to supporting young survivors of sex trafficking. Located on 10 acres and sitting above Lake Mead in Boulder City, the campus features six single-story homes, each designed to accommodate four to six residents. The center can house up to 62 individuals at full capacity, providing a safe and nurturing environment for healing.
This innovative facility goes beyond traditional care models by offering a comprehensive range of services. It includes survivor advocates, therapy offices, a multi-purpose building, and outdoor spaces that promote healing through nature connection. The center is staffed 24/7 by trained professionals who provide specialized care and support.
A unique feature of the Healing Center is its on-site public school, the first of its kind dedicated to young trafficking survivors. This Clark County School District school offers a tailored educational approach with flexible learning options and integrated social-emotional support, addressing the specific needs of its students.
The Healing Center's opening marks a significant shift from traditional practices, offering a compassionate alternative to juvenile detention for underage trafficking victims. By partnering with law enforcement, child protective services, and legal advocates, the center aims to break the cycle of trauma and incarceration, providing a path to recovery and hope for some of society's most vulnerable youth. stjudesranch.org/healing-center

Ditch Resolutions, Embrace Intentions
Start the New Year with clarity and purpose—without the pressure of perfection
A resolution is a firm decision to do something. Not achieving that "something" often feels like failure. Who wants to start off the new year with that kind of pressure?
Yet, the New Year marks an exciting time for fresh starts, and doing nothing can feel uninspiring. Instead of rigid resolutions, why not set intentions? Unlike resolutions that focus on narrow outcomes, intentions are about aligning your work life with what truly matters—your values, goals, and purpose. They’re flexible, forgiving, and motivating.
The final new moon of 2024 falls on December 30, creating the perfect opportunity for inward contemplation, rest, and renewal before diving into another busy year. As you start your new year, take this time to reflect on these guiding questions:
• How can I feel more engaged and fulfilled at work this year?
• Which professional relationships do I want to nurture?
• What steps can I take to create more harmony between my career and personal life?
For me, this New Year, I mapped out my year on a huge annual wall calendar and made sure to include at least one adrenaline-fueled or “scary” goal per month. I also blocked out non-negotiable time during my work week for nurturing practices to ensure I stay grounded and energized.
Setting intentions isn’t just about crafting

goals; it’s about creating a vision for your professional life that’s meaningful and sustainable. Unlike resolutions, which are often forgotten by February, intentions adapt and evolve. They help you make thoughtful decisions, navigate challenges, and stay connected to your "why" at work.
This year, trade burnout for balance and self-criticism for self-compassion. The journey begins with a single question: What’s the best that can happen?
