THE AMBASSADOR SHOP AT 3000 W. MEMORIAL #129 HAS ALL THE DUDS THAT MAKE MEN CHANNEL THEIR INNER 1940S DAPPER SELVES. Owner Loren Wilson says nostalgic styles like pinstripes and seersucker are back in style, but with a modern twist. “For office wear, the old-school pinstripe is going back to a chalk pinstripe that has the 1930s and 1940s look,” he says. “The patterns are hot right now, so we see a lot more of the colored plaids and wide pinstripes. Fabrics are changing too. You are seeing a lot of wool and silk blends, wool for the shape and silk for the shine.” Pops of subtle color combined with pure, unadulterated pastels and brights bring a fun feel to men’s fashion this fall, he adds. The pinstripes are incorporating colors like lavender and red while the plaids are hinting at iridescent sheens. “The shirts have that same style. We see a lot of gingham shirts and small plaid, and we are able to take all the colors and have some fun with it,” he says. “Pastel colors are popular with your pinks, yellows and greens for sports jackets.” The Ambassador Shop specializes in the Italian designer line of Tiglio, which is famous for cutting-edge Italian fashion design and quality. “You won’t see designs like this anywhere else,” Loren says. The fashion boutique also features weekly sales and will begin introducing sports coats and suits of the month for shoppers. He says the suits are affordable, ranging in price from about $650 to $750, adding that an on-site tailor makes alterations hassle-free for customers. “We are a specialty men’s clothier store and have become known for our on-site tailoring and the exceptional service through four generations,” Loren says.

WHEN IT COMES TO A QUICK AND EASY UPDATE THAT MAKES A DRAMATIC DIFFERENCE IN THE STYLE OF YOUR KITCHEN, HARDWARE RANKS RIGHT AT THE TOP. Hardware like cabinet handles, sinks and faucets can be changed out in just a few hours and transforms the entire appearance and feel of a space. As Gene Goforth of Architectural Hardware Design says, "Hardware is the pearl necklace to the black dress." When it comes to an easy kitchen update, new hardware can transform a space from "blah" to beautiful. "As a former real estate broker, I always tell clients that making your house fresh and clean is essential to get the most out of your market value," Gene says. "How do you do that? With new paint, new flooring and then replacing the fixtures and hardware to more updated products." When a future homeowner walks into a house, he or she immediately starts looking at what needs to be replaced or remodeled. Having outof-date hardware on cabinets or in the kitchen could shave off thousands of dollars when negotiations begin. "If you see polished brass, you need updating," he says. "If you don't know if your kitchen needs updating, then take pictures and bring it to us. We can advise you on what needs to be changed. You can also go to open houses or new homes to see what builders are putting in. Consult with a designer." Some of the hot, trendy finishes in kitchen hardware are satin brass, modern bronze and flat black, Gene says. The timeless finishes include polished chrome and brushed or polished nickel. "Timeless finishes will stand the test of time. Barn door hardware is also still hot, and that trend isn't going anywhere any time soon," he says. "Styles are also going more and more contemporary with cleaner, minimalist lines. You don't see a lot of ornate designs that you have to clean around." The best thing about updating the little touches and hardware is that homeowners can do it on a budget and usually themselves. "You don't have to spend a fortune to update your hardware. You can take your existing cabinets and give them a whole new look with a faux finish and updated handles," Gene says. "But keep in mind that this is your house. Put in what you like; you don't have to fit inside the box." PICTURE-PERFECT ROAD TRIP TALIMENA DRIVE IN EASTERN OKLAHOMA SHINES WITH FALL'S GLORY

The Talimena Drive in southeast Oklahoma displays a burst of color during the fall months.

AS FALL APPROACHES, THE LEAVES BEGIN TO CHANGE COLOR FROM GREEN TO FIERY RED, BURNT ORANGE, LEMON YELLOW AND SULTRY BROWN. The Talimena National Scenic Byway is a stunning 54-mile route in southeast Oklahoma, but it is also a picture-perfect way to view breathtaking fall foliage. Designated by the U.S. Department of Transportation as an official National Scenic Byway, the Talimena Drive was built specifically to highlight the area's foliage and spans one of the highest mountain ranges between the Appalachians and the Rockies. Winding through the heart of Oklahoma's Choctaw Country, the scenic drive runs from Talihina, Oklahoma, to Mena, Arkansas. Yet the route offers so much more than just a pleasant drive. The Talimena Drive has scenic turnoffs to see the crested peaks with 22 designated vistas. Roadway interpretive signs help drivers understand the unique geography of the Ouachita National Forest, but the forest's foliage really explodes in a riot of color during the fall months. Be sure stop along the drive at some of the area's most popular destinations, including Talimena State Park, the Ouachita National Forest and the Cedar Lake Recreation Area to enjoy outdoor activities like hiking, backpacking, mountain biking, horseback riding and more. 50
