INSIDE FARGO'S PREMIER MED SPA A NEW SPIN ON MID-CENTURY MODERN WELL-KNOWN SCULPTOR HAS TIES TO FARGO LOCAL FOODIE TURNED RESTAURATEUR

Another year (or in this case, decade) has come and gone, and many of us ring in the New Year with a list of New Year’s resolutions. If you are like the majority of Americans, your list might look a bit like mine: eat better, exercise more, make more time for myself. The common theme in New Year’s Resolutions? Become the best YOU possible.

Fortunately, in 2020 the options for becoming the best you are easier than at any other decade. Advances in health care and technology and are allowing us to feel, and look, our very best with affordable wellness and rejuvenation solutions.

LET’S R E V I E W TH E 2020 SO LUTI O NS TO YOU R N E W Y E A R’S R E SO LUTI O NS: COOL SCULPTING® Get rid of stubborn diet and exercise-resistant fat permanently with Coolsculpting. Coolsculpting is the #1 fat reduction treatment used by physicians worldwide. The unique CoolSculpting® fat-freezing technology is a nonsurgical, scientifically proven way to reduce pockets of fat in trouble spots such as the abdomen, flanks, or under the chin in as little as one session. Patients notice up to 20-25% reduction in fat after a single session with results as early as 1 to 3 months after treatment. CO O LTO N E It can be a challenge to get to the gym as much as you need to in order to see those sculpted abs or lift the buttocks. Fortunately, in 2020, we have a secret weapon. CoolTone is a noninvasive body contouring treatment that uses Magnetic Muscle Stimulation (MMS) technology to strengthen, tone, and firm the muscles of the abdomen, buttocks, and thighs. Each 30-minute session is the equivalent of 20,000 sit-ups, and in just two weeks, you will notice a stronger, firmer, and more toned abdomen, thighs, or buttocks.

BIOIDENTICAL HORMONE REPL ACEMENT THER APY As men and women age, the levels of some essential hormones in the body drastically decrease. These include estrogen, progesterone, and testosterone. This can lead to specific symptoms that impact the quality of life, such as weight gain, low sex drive, and lack of energy/vitality. At Rejuv we offer bio-identical hormone replacement therapy to replace the hormones that have been lost. As a result, hormone levels will increase and symptoms will improve. Bio-identical hormones are specifically compounded to identically match what your body once produced. N U T R I E N T I V ’ S A N D V I TA M I N I N J EC T I O N S A favorite of celebrities and professional athletes, our vitamin drips deliver essential nutrients, vitamins and minerals directly into your bloodstream, providing virtually immediate results. Whether you need an immune system boost, feeling the effects of stress or simply need an energy and vitality boost, nutrient IV’s can help. Another great option: vitamin injections. Vitamin shots are far superior to taking oral supplements since muscle fibers absorb the vitamin in full for an immediate and sustained effect.

BANISH DRY WINTER SKIN WITH THIS DIY SUGAR SCRUB

14

Fargo Lifestyle | March 2020

NOTHING SAYS COMFORT QUITE LIKE THE SMELL OF FRESH-BAKED COOKIES, ESPECIALLY DURING A CHILLY SUGAR

MIDWEST WINTER. Now, you don’t need to spend time baking to get that same cozy feeling. This Sugar Cookie Sugar Scrub has all the comfort without the cleanup—or the calories! The best part? You probably have the basic ingredients for this super easy sugar scrub in your pantry already! Sugar scrubs are a great way to revive dull, dry skin caused by harsh winter weather. While there are plenty of storebought options to choose from, making a sugar scrub at home is a lot less expensive. Plus, unlike done-for-you sugar scrubs, you have total control of the type and quality of ingredients used to make it. It’s a win-win!

COCONUT OIL

SUGAR COOKIE SUGAR SCRUB INGREDIENTS + A glass jar or airtight container VANILLA EXTRACT

+ 1 cup sugar + 1/2 cup almond, olive, or coconut oil + 1 tablespoon vanilla extract + 1/2 teaspoon vitamin E oil (optional) + 1/2 teaspoon almond extract (optional)

INSTRUCTIONS 1. Add all the ingredients to a bowl and mix together, adding more oil until the consistency is to your liking. Once the desired consistency is achieved, transfer the mixture to an airtight container like a glass jar and enjoy! Since there are no VITAMIN E OIL

preservatives in this recipe, it's best if used within 1-2 months. 2. When you're ready to enjoy some rest and relaxation, simply use a spoon to scoop a small amount out of the jar and apply it to your body. To get the best results, rub the sugar scrub into your skin and let it sit for 3-4 minutes so the oil is absorbed. When a few minutes have passed, gently rinse the sugar scrub from your body and pat your skin dry with a clean towel.

ALMOND EXTRACT

Note: The oil from the sugar scrub can make things slippery, so be sure to exercise caution if applying it in the shower or bathtub.

LOCALLY OWNED (CONTINUED)

WHETHER YOU’VE VISITED THE MEDICAL SPA OR ARE MERELY FAMILIAR WITH THE NAME, MOST FARGOMOORHEAD RESIDENTS ARE AWARE OF REJUV. Until recently, I fell into the latter category. At one point, I drove by Rejuv’s location on 45th Street nearly every day for three years. Yet, I knew very little about it—at least until recently, when I was invited to take the leap and make an appointment. I was surprised to find that I was a little nervous. I hadn’t been to a med spa before, so I wasn’t entirely sure what to expect, but the uncertainty I felt was put at ease the moment I stepped inside. I was immediately greeted with friendly smiles from Rejuv’s staff before I was introduced to my personally assigned aesthetic consultant. I didn’t know what kind of questions to ask, or what to really expect. It turned out that I received more time, attention, and professional comfort and reassurance than I could have imagined. Rejuv truly fits the image of sparking joy, not only with the look and feel of the extraordinarily designed clinical space but also with the way they made me feel during my experience from beginning to end. In fact, I am now a Rejuv Member and am so excited about my monthly experiences at the med spa going forward! Melissa Rogne, Founder and CEO of Rejuv, is a pioneer in the med spa industry. She was one of the first Licensed Medical Aestheticians in North Dakota. Since 2005, Rogne and Rejuv have earned a reputation for raising the standard in the aesthetics industry. From the highly skilled and knowledgeable staff to the cutting edge services and equipment, Rejuv has rightly earned its place as a beauty industry leader, literally from everything head to toe. A fun fact I learned is that Rejuv is in the Top 1% of Botox providers in the United States. Yes, right here in Fargo, ND! Having seen the passion Rogne and her team have for what they do first hand, it’s easy to understand why Rejuv has achieved such high levels of success. The entire team at Rejuv is dedicated to providing exceptional care, and every service is heavily vetted before its added to the med spa’s menu. The desire to only offer the best of the best truly sets Rejuv apart from other med spas not only in the region but nationwide. 3301 45th Street South, Fargo 701.356.7546, RejuvClinic.com 20

ingredients + Prep

Depending on what you order, you may need some of your own supplies. When you select your meals, think about what you will need to cook the food in and if any other kitchen utensils would be helpful. Have them ready to go so you don’t have to make any last-minute trips to the store, defeating the purpose of getting your box delivered! If the meals are foods you would enjoy reheated, you could do all of your cooking the day you get the box to meal prep for your week, or you can just store the ingredients to the other meals in your fridge and cook them throughout the week.

cooking

If you’re a little less-experienced in the kitchen, meal kits are great for learning! Read the instructions carefully before you get started so you don’t feel frazzled while the heat is up high, and take your time. If you are a more seasoned chef, feel free to take your own spin on the recipes and add some extra flavor or swap out ingredients to make it perfect for your palate.

let’s eat!

This is the really fun part! It’s time to start taste-testing. Make a note tab in your phone for tracking what you love and what isn’t your favorite. That way, when it’s time to select more meals, you know what you have tried and what you absolutely have to try again. Don’t forget to ask your family what was a hit and a miss. Who knows— maybe the kids love some of the Purple Carrot recipes and don’t even notice how many veggies they are eating!
