As you flip through the pages of our April Investment issue, I encourage you to find a comfortable space to relax, reflect, dream, and plan. For many of us, the word "investment" can spark feelings of optimism and potential—or it can trigger emotions of anxiety and responsibility. By definition, an investment involves putting money, time, or effort into something, whether material or intangible, with the hope of generating a future profit or advantage.
When I think about investment and planning for my family's future, I take a holistic approach—rooted in personal values. I ask myself: How do I want to feel in this lifetime? How, where, and with whom do I want to spend my time? What experiences do I desire for my family? How can I give back and invest in my community?
I also leave space to dream. Dreaming is vital—it’s limitless and pushes us beyond our comfort zones. In my experience, having a strong dream, purpose, or North Star makes the journey of investing—and the patience it requires—more joyful, connected, and exciting.
With every issue, our goal is to invest in you—our reader—by providing quality resources and stories to inspire your dreams and plans for the future. Whether it's our interview with financial advisor Christina Duffy, who reminds us that financial wellness isn’t about how much you have but how well you manage it, or our partners at BMW, highlighting how investing in electric vehicles not only reduces emissions but also opens the door to cutting-edge innovation—the sky's the limit when it comes to investing in what matters most to you.

EVERYTHING YOU NEED FOR THE PERFECT PICNIC AT AULT PARK
If you're a Cincinnati native, one clear sign that spring has arrived is the familiar urge — or invitation — to have a picnic. For those living in Hyde Park, a picnic isn't complete without the best local bites from Hyde Park Fine Meats & Seafood to fill your basket before heading to the beautiful scenery of Ault Park. For residents of the area, a picnic is more than just a seasonal tradition — it marks the return of sunsets past seven p.m. and the long-awaited warmth that spring provides us all. It’s a celebration of two things Cincinnatians do best: savoring good food and embracing the city we all call home.
As you plan your perfect picnic, the first step is deciding what to pack for your al fresco feast. Enter Hyde Park Fine Meats & Seafood. Tucked within Paxton Avenue, this charming yellow-brick store is a neighborhood staple. Despite the closure of many locally owned groceries over the years, Hyde Park Fine Meats & Seafood has endured, standing as a beloved part of the community. While renowned for its quality meats and specialty dishes, it also offers a diverse selection of artisan bread, fresh produce, wines, and grocery essentials — making it a one-stop shop for assembling the ultimate picnic spread.
So, what should you add to your picnic menu? Start with a classic French baguette, the perfect base for creating sandwiches or pairing with spreads. Next, select a variety of cured meats and dry salami to add a rich, savory touch. Complement these with an assortment of cheeses — a picnic staple — choosing from creamy brie, sharp cheddar, or tangy goat cheese. To balance out the savory flavors, add fresh fruits like strawberries, grapes, or blueberries, and toss in some sweet bell peppers for a crisp, colorful bite. Don’t forget the condiments — Hyde Park Fine Meats & Seafood offers a delightful selection of specialty honey, including lavender, jalapeño, and cinnamon-infused options. These add a fun, unexpected twist to your charcuterie board. Finally, no picnic basket is complete without a beverage. With their thoughtfully curated wine selection, you can pick the perfect bottle to toast to the new season.
there are dedicated picnic facilities available, the park also features expansive lawn quads with a variety of scenic views. You can choose a lookout point with a sweeping view of the Ohio River, set up near the iconic pavilion for a classic backdrop, or opt for a more serene experience under the cherry blossom trees or in the Brumm and Rose gardens.
“It’s a celebration of two things Cincinnatians do best: savoring good food and embracing the city we all call home.”
Once your basket is packed, grab a blanket, utensils, and your favorite sun hat, and head to Ault Park. As one of southwest Ohio’s premier regional parks, Ault Park provides plenty of picturesque spots for a leisurely picnic. While
After finding the perfect spot, the best part of the day begins — unpack your basket, settle in, and enjoy a well-earned break from the bustle of daily life. Take a moment to appreciate the peaceful atmosphere, the sound of rustling leaves, and the sweet taste of seasonal produce. It’s more than just a meal outdoors; it’s a way to welcome spring, support local businesses, and create memories in one of Cincinnati's most beautiful and idyllic settings.
So, whether you're planning a romantic date, a fun outing with friends, or a solo retreat, a spring picnic at Ault Park — stocked with the best bites from Hyde Park Fine Meats & Seafood — is the perfect way to embrace all that the season provides. Let the warmer days inspire you to gather, graze, and savor every spring bite.

Embrace the flavors of spring with these easy, flaky pastries.
Each season brings new elements — changing weather, new clothes, adjusted AC settings at home, and most of all, fresh seasonal foods at the store. One of spring's most popular in-season foods is strawberries. While they’re available year-round, spring is when their flavor is at its peak — sweet, juicy, and irresistible.
• 1 sheet puff pastry, thawed
• 1 cup fresh strawberries, sliced
• 4 ounces cream cheese, softened
• 1/4 cup powdered sugar
• 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
• 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
• 2 tablespoons granulated sugar

A great way to enjoy this natural treat is with a homemade pastry. Strawberry cheesecake Danishes are not only a crowd-pleasing dessert or brunch side, but they’re also surprisingly easy to make. Here’s everything you need!
DIRECTIONS:
1. Remove the puff pastry from the freezer and let it thaw. Preheat the oven to 400 F.
2. In a stand mixer, combine the softened cream cheese, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract. Mix until smooth and well combined. Set aside.
3. Once thawed, unfold the puff pastry and roll it out. Cut it into six rectangles.
4. Spread a spoonful of the cream cheese mixture into the center of each pastry, leaving a small border along the edges.
5. Place the sliced strawberries in your desired layout on top of the cream cheese.
6. Using a fork, crimp the edges of each pastry, then brush the edges with the egg wash.
7. Sprinkle granulated sugar over the pastries for a slight crystallized effect (optional).
8. Bake in the preheated oven for 15 to 18 minutes, or until the Danishes are puffed and golden brown. Remove from the oven and let cool for a few minutes before serving.

Talking about money can feel personal and even a little vulnerable. That’s why Christina Duffy, a financial advisor at UBS Financial Services, Inc. and Hyde Park resident, believes the key to financial confidence starts with finding someone you trust.
Whether you're just starting to think seriously about your finances, have some experience but want to sharpen your strategies, or feel like a pro ready for the next level, there’s always room to grow. Christina emphasizes that financial wellness isn’t about how much you have—it’s about how well you manage what you have.
For the past 11 years, Christina has been part of the Horton Neville Shick Wealth Management Group. What really drives her is building relationships that go beyond the numbers.
“We have a generational approach,” Christina says. “It’s not just about working with individuals and families—it’s about getting to know their children and even their grandchildren. It’s about creating lasting connections and helping people navigate their financial journey.”
Christina and her team focus on understanding each client’s personal history, goals, and values. By doing so, they help organize financial lives into clear categories: what you need now, what you want for the future, and the legacy you hope to leave behind.
No matter where you are in your financial journey, Christina encourages open conversations about money.
“A lot of the conversations we have aren’t strictly about money,” she explains. “We talk about caring for aging parents, navigating a late-in-life divorce, and the big life changes that impact your financial world. Our goal is to make those discussions feel approachable and supportive.”
Her passion for helping others reach their goals is what keeps Christina inspired. “It’s incredibly rewarding to be part of someone’s journey—to see them hit those financial milestones and feel a sense of security and pride,” she says.
One area Christina is especially passionate about is empowering women to take charge of their finances. “Historically, women haven’t always been included in financial conversations,” she notes. “I want to change that by creating a space where women feel confident talking about money and planning for their futures.”
Looking ahead, Christina is excited to continue helping her neighbors tackle their financial goals. “Talking about money doesn’t have to be uncomfortable,” she says. “When you focus on what matters most to you—your family, your dreams, your values—that’s when real financial planning starts.”
Spring isn’t just for decluttering your home—it’s a great time to refresh your financial life too. Christina shares four simple ways to help boost your financial wellness this season, tailored to wherever you are in your financial journey:
1. If you’re just starting out: Know your number. “Understanding your cash flow is step one,” Christina says. “Figure out how much you spend in a year. It’s the foundation for everything that comes next.”
2. For those with some experience: Check your expenses. “Look at your bank statements and identify patterns,” Christina suggests. “Are there subscriptions you forgot about or expenses you can cut back? Small changes can add up.”
3. For seasoned planners: Set clear goals. “What do you want your life to look like a year from now? Five years? Twenty?” Christina asks. “Write down those goals and map out the steps to achieve them.”
4. Everyone needs to: Protect your finances. Review your credit report and strengthen your online security. “Cybersecurity isn’t just a tech issue—it’s a financial one too,” Christina reminds us.
“Christina emphasizes that financial wellness isn’t about how much you have— it’s all about how well you manage what you have.”
“We
have a generational approach,” Christina says. “It’s not just about working with individuals and families—it’s about getting to know their children and even their grandchildren. It’s about creating lasting connections and helping people navigate their financial journey.”
Financial wellness isn’t about being wealthy—it’s about feeling in control of your money and your future. No matter your starting point, a little spring cleaning for your finances can help you feel prepared for whatever comes next.

BMW’s EVs Are More Than Just a Trend
ARTICLE BY LISA FLETCHER
The future of driving isn’t just exciting—it’s electric. Investing in an electric vehicle (EV) not only reduces emissions, it allows you to step into a world of cutting-edge innovation, effortless efficiency, and an exhilarating driving experience. And when it comes to luxury EVs, BMW is leading the charge. With a lineup that blends power, performance and premium comfort, BMW proves that going electric doesn’t mean giving up what makes driving fun.
One of the key reasons BMW’s EVs are so popular is that they don’t sacrifice the brand’s signature aesthetics or driving experience. “BMW has done a great job in the luxury EV space, offering models based off of traditional BMW vehicles—they don’t look any different than their gasoline/hybrid stablemates,” explains Louis Velazquez, Marketing Director at The BMW Store near Kenwood. “BMW calls it ‘the power of choice.’”
BMW currently offers four EV models, each catering to different drivers and lifestyles:
• i4 – based off the compact 4 Series Gran Coupe
• i5 – based off the iconic 5 Series sedan
• i7 – based off the executive 7 Series sedan
• iX SUV – an entirely unique model to
BMW electric
According to Louis, BMW’s most popular EV, the i4, starts at $57,900—making it an attainable entry point into the world of luxury electric vehicles.
Put simply, choosing a BMW EV is about making a long-term investment in efficiency and convenience. “Most EV adopters are finding the ownership experience to be quite easy since you can charge your vehicle at home with an in-home charger,” he explains. No more gas station stops—just plug in at home and wake up to a full charge. For commuters and city drivers, it’s a game-changer. Beyond convenience, BMW EVs represent a smart financial investment. “Overall, the costs of owning an EV are less than a gasoline-powered car. Mechanically, EVs are simpler, so you’re replacing fewer parts. But there’s still a certain amount of maintenance required for EVs, just like any car. It’s still a machine,” Louis says.
And of course, there’s the environmental factor. BMW’s EVs are completely emissions-free, making them an investment in a cleaner future. Plus as charging infrastructure expands nationwide, EVs will only become a smarter, more attractive, more accessible choice.
Thinking about making the switch? It’s all about planning. “Understanding your EV is of utmost importance,” Louis advises. “While most BMW EVs have a full range of around 300 miles, it’s important to give yourself a little bit of a cushion when traveling, and understand and plot your route ahead of time.”
As EV technology continues to evolve, BMW remains dedicated to producing vehicles that are not only sustainable, but also provide the ultimate driving experience. That’s their signature and their standard. Ready to testdrive the future of automation? Your EV is waiting.
Owning an electric vehicle is a smart investment, but to get the most out of it, proper planning is essential.
• Know Your Range: Most BMW EVs offer a range of 300 miles, but factors like speed, temperature and extra passengers can impact efficiency. Always allow for variables like these when planning longer trips.
• Use Smart Navigation: BMW’s advanced navigation system easily helps you locate charging stations and optimize routes, helping reduce range anxiety.
• Charge Strategically: Charging at home overnight is the most convenient option. When traveling, plan stops at high-speed charging stations to minimize downtime.
• Be Aware of Seasonal Differences: Energy consumption increases in extreme temperatures—hot or cold—so monitor battery performance in summer and winter.
• Stay Informed: EV technology is evolving rapidly. Keeping up with advancements ensures you make the most of your investment in sustainable, high-performance driving.
