Blu Kouzina, often regarded as one of the finest Greek restaurants in the area, has been a staple on Sarasota's St. Armands Circle since 2015, located at 25 N. Boulevard of the Presidents. In 2023, the restaurant revealed plans to open a second location at UTC's West District, next to Ford's Garage. As of a recent visit, both the UTC website and on-site signage still indicate the opening as "coming soon."

Duck Donuts has officially opened its first Sarasota-Manatee location at Lakewood Ranch's Waterside Place. Known for "warm, delicious, made-to-order donuts," the menu features favorites like a maple-iced donut topped with bacon and salted caramel, along with coffee, donut sundaes, sandwiches, and catering options. Dr. Austin L. Lyman’s journey into oral surgery is one built on hard work, passion, and a deep desire to provide patients with top-tier care. His path began in Alabama, where he spent his teenage years working alongside his mother, a dental assistant, at a local general dentist’s office. This early exposure to dentistry, coupled with his mother’s guidance, ignited a lifelong commitment to healthcare. His mother, always supportive, offered him invaluable insights that have shaped his successful career.
From cleaning instruments at age 15 to assisting in various dental environments, Dr. Lyman’s diverse experiences fostered his belief that healthcare should be predictable, safe, and comfortable. His interest in oral surgery was sparked by witnessing facial trauma surgeries and the removal of wisdom teeth. He knew that beyond surgery, prevention was key—a philosophy that remains central to his practice today.
After earning a degree in Spanish to connect with diverse patients and a biology major at UAB, Dr. Lyman pursued his dental education, first at Temple University Kornberg School of Dentistry and later completing his residency in oral and maxillofacial surgery at the Medical University of South Carolina.

Armed with these qualifications and years of practical experience, Dr. Lyman opened Lakewood Ranch Oral and Facial Surgery (LROFS) in March 2024, marking a milestone in his professional journey.
The design of LROFS reflects Dr. Lyman’s commitment to patient comfort and trust. Drawing inspiration from both luxury branding and his extensive exposure to various office environments, he sought to create an atmosphere of transparency and openness. His careful design choices, like three large windows with frosted glass and soft gray walls, ensure a calming, welcoming atmosphere that reduces patient anxiety—a key element in his care philosophy.
But it’s not just the design of his office that makes LROFS exceptional; it’s the investment in cutting-edge technology. Dr. Lyman’s office boasts one of only two 3D imaging machines on Florida’s west coast, offering 77% less radiation than traditional CT scans. This technology allows him to 3D print models of patients’ skulls or mouths, enhancing communication and understanding of complex procedures. His office also includes a full operating room with anesthesia capabilities, providing patients with high-quality care without the need for costly hospital visits.

He also serves as clinical faculty at LECOM School of Dental Medicine, passing on his expertise to the next generation of surgeons.

Marie Byrd is today an energetic, tenured education professor and the single mother of a daughter who is active in everything from teen leadership groups, to orchestra, piano and band.
Back in 2012, however, Marie was newly divorced and transitioning to the life of a single career mother. She wanted to find a way to stay in shape and build strength to keep up with her busy daughter and relieve stress in her hectic professional life. Also as a goal for Marie, she wanted Michelle Obama arms and shoulders.
Time, however, was a huge problem. The six to eight hours a week she once spent to stay fit and trim had been reallocated to her career and her daughter, leaving little time for a traditional workout.
So Marie did what any serious university professor would do. She conducted research. As a financial advisor, Joey provides comprehensive financial planning services including estate and retirement planning, identifying tax efficiencies with each client’s accounting team, and risk management.
