“We offer something for everyone to support and optimize our community’s health and well-being.” -Dr. Vanessa Sturz
In their quest to make a meaningful impact in their community, two local doctors turn their passion and experience into action. Meet Drs. Gregory and Vanessa Sturz, a pediatric emergency room physician and Richmond Magazine 2024 “Top Doc” general dentist, who are the proud owners of the newly opened DRIPBaR Midlothian. With a shared commitment to service, Greg and Vanessa hope to share their story and help spread the many benefits of IV therapy to our community and beyond.
Following a rough month of 22 shifts at the Chippenham Emergency Room, Greg contracted strep throat, which eventually turned into strep pneumonia. About a month post-recovery, he developed a rash, which was diagnosed as an autoimmune condition: guttate psoriasis. After facing the exorbitant expense of medical treatments for Greg’s newfound condition, the couple began to research supportive treatments. That’s when they discovered the health and wellness benefits of IV vitamin therapy.
At Vanessa’s urging, an initially reluctant Greg agreed to try The DRIPBaR Charlottesville, and about 10 minutes after his first drip, he claimed it had been decades since he felt that good! This experience led him to integrate IV therapy into his ER schedule, making night-to-day conversions. After adhering to an anti-inflammatory diet and following an IV therapy regimen for a year, Greg successfully discontinued his expensive treatments and feels better than ever.
When discussing their mission, Vanessa shares, “We want to deliver IV vitamin therapy that embodies the highest standards of a clinic run by a physician, which is why we partnered with The DRIPBaR and REVIV10x,” she explains. Offering technology that no other clinic in town can provide - including genomic-based vitamin therapy, Vanessa states, “We believe in being of service to our community, and that’s why we have joined forces with local charities and the Chesterfield Police, Fire, and EMS to support our frontline officers.”
Greg and Vanessa ensure that all guests have a safe and comfortable experience, putting everyone at ease while educating them.
To provide an exceptional level of service, The DRIPBaR Midlothian has created a uniquely inviting atmosphere. Inside, the vibe is like no other; beautiful crystal chandeliers adorn the ceilings, and guests are provided with heated massage chairs and cozy Lola blankets. Greg and Vanessa ensure that all guests have a safe and comfortable experience, putting everyone at ease while educating them. They have created an environment where employees are always happy, which carries over to the overall atmosphere of The DRIPBaR. Greg and Vanessa maintain incredibly high clinical standards, so all their nurses actively practice in ERs and ICUs to ensure they stay up-to-date on their skill sets.
Since opening in mid-December, DRIPBaR Midlothian has received an overwhelming response from a diverse range of clients. “We may have had preconceived notions about who might be using our clinic,” Vanessa admits, “but during our first week open, we were extremely surprised that our community was so well educated and well-versed in these supportive therapies.” From cancer patients to couples on date nights, elderly women, busy moms, and athletes, The DRIPBaR welcomes everyone from all stages and phases of life.
In its first week, the clinic treated patients facing serious health challenges, including those with cancer who sought high-dose vitamin C therapy, known for its potential to extend survival time in certain cancer types. Additionally, patients suffering from autoimmune conditions found relief through IV vitamin therapy, while a professional athlete benefited from glutathione IV therapy to aid her recovery ahead of the competition.
So, how does this busy couple balance family life with running a business together? By being best friends and teammates, Vanessa explains, “Greg and I believe in being hands-on with our parenting. We alternate our work days so that one of us is always home when the kids are off from school or sick.” With a sense of humor and genuine joy in spending time with their 10-year-old daughter Greta, 3-year-old son William, and two dogs, Clementine and Hopper, the Sturzes express that working for employers who are supportive of working families makes it easier to balance their personal and professional lives, demonstrating that both career ambitions and family time can thrive together.
As they look toward the future, Greg and Vanessa aim to forge connections with more businesses and establish meaningful partnerships. They are also seeking opportunities to collaborate with local charities. By partnering with several local golf clubs, they have improved charity golf tournaments by providing hydration services and donating 5% of their proceeds to support the hosting charity. This collaborative approach not only strengthens community ties but also amplifies the impact of their contributions. The Sturzes invite all to come by The DRIPBaR to check out their facilities. “We offer something for everyone to support and optimize our community’s health and well-being,” Vanessa says.

A NIGHT OF SUPPORT FOR THE COLORADO FUND FOR MUSCULAR DYSTROPHY AT THREE CROSSES DISTILLING
Stephanie Colorado, Steven Casupanan, Joanna Tannenbaum, Aaron Swart, and Michelle Davenport
To commemorate its 10th anniversary last November, the Colorado Fund for Muscular Dystrophy (CFMD) hosted an event in collaboration with Three Crosses Distilling in Powhatan, celebrating its achievements over the past decade. Cheers to a Cause was an enjoyable evening for everyone involved, featuring a delicious selection of seasonal cocktails, tastings, and appetizers. A portion of the proceeds supported CFMD, making the evening not only fun but deeply meaningful.
The CFMD is a local non-profit that raises funds to support programs and events enhancing the lives of those with muscular dystrophy and related disorders. Founded in memory of Aileen DeCastro Colorado, a Richmond native who passed away in 2011, Aileen inspired those around her, never allowing her disability to hinder her goals. She will always be remembered as a bright light
who touched the lives of everyone she met. In honor of her memory, her friends and family, including her sister Stephanie, who also has muscular dystrophy, united to create an organization dedicated to her legacy.
When it came time to organize Cheers to a Cause, CFMD Vice President Steven Casupanan had one place in mind: Three Crosses Distilling. “From start to finish, it was an amazing experience,” Stevens says. “Michelle [Davenport] was awesome to work with in planning and preparation, and the genuine local support for our cause was well received. The drinks, food, and atmosphere made for a perfect fundraising event to celebrate our 10-year anniversary!” Adding a heartfelt element to the celebration, Steven shares that Cheers to a Cause was also held on what would have been Aileen’s 50th birthday, November 7th.
A welcoming and family-friendly place often called a modern-day Cheers, Three Crosses is the perfect spot to celebrate any occasion with its cozy vibe and specialty-crafted small-batch spirits. When approached to host one of their “Fundraiser Thursday” events for the CFMD, Three Crosses owner Michelle Davenport signed on immediately without knowing many details. “I assumed it had something to do with the state of Colorado,” Michelle says. “I was so surprised and happy when it turned out to be an organization created for Aileen Colorado, a friend and classmate with whom I went to high school and graduated. I’m so pleased that we were able to honor her memory.”
The collaboration between CFMD and Three Crosses was a remarkable success, helping CFMD to reach its $10,000 goal for this year. This type of teamwork illustrates the strength of community efforts and is a touching reminder of the positive impact we can achieve when we all come together for a shared purpose. Aileen DeCastro Colorado led a fulfilling life despite the challenges posed by muscular dystrophy. While pursuing her communications degree, she actively fundraised for children’s causes and participated in various diversity workshops. After graduating, Aileen continued her commitment to helping others by volunteering with the Make-A-Wish Foundation and working as a public relations specialist for the Department of Aging and Rehabilitative Services (DARS). Her advocacy efforts earned her multiple awards, and she is fondly remembered as a kind and optimistic person. In recognition of her impact, DARS established the Aileen Colorado Champion Award in her honor following her passing in 2011.
TRANSFORMING BEAUTY AND WELLNESS THROUGH PERSONALIZED CARE IN MIDLOTHIAN
“Aesthetic treatments are not just about results—they’re about offering a moment of self-care and helping clients feel pampered and valued.” - Jessica Knable
Welcome to Jolie Aesthetics, Midlothian’s premier destination for beauty and wellness. Owned by the husbandand-wife team Kody and Jessica Knable, Jolie Aesthetics is a venture born out of their personal challenges and experiences, serving as a tribute to resilience, healing, and transformation. Kody, profoundly affected by his father’s death, sought meaning in his loss and became determined to empower others emotionally. Meanwhile, Jessica, an ER nurse, recognized the significance of selfcare and inner confidence, understanding that true beauty stems from nurturing the soul. Together, they aim to help individuals rediscover their true selves and embrace their unique journeys.
For Kody and Jessica, their place is more than just aesthetics. “It’s a sanctuary where people can regain their confidence, find healing, and reconnect with their own beauty,” Jessica says. Jolie Aesthetics is a safe, transformative space with a professional team dedicated to excellence, including Jessica, the Lead Injector pursuing a Doctorate in Nursing; Kody, a TRT/ Weight Loss Management Consultant with over seven years of experience; and certified Nurse Injectors Jillian Laurent and Lexie Rogers. Additionally, Gabrielle Hundley serves as the Director of Esthetics. This outstanding team remains at the forefront of FDA-approved treatments by actively collaborating with medication representatives and participating in conferences, ensuring the highest standards of patient safety.
Jolie Aesthetics provides a range of advanced aesthetic treatments, including facials, microneedling, and chemical peels, as well as brow shaping and waxing. They offer injectables like Botox and dermal fillers for a youthful appearance, Kybella for fat reduction, and PRP injections for hair restoration. Additionally, they provide health support through wellness and
hormone therapies, including testosterone treatments, IV therapy, and personalized weight loss plans. With medication, tailored workouts, and nutrition guidance, patients in the weight loss program have collectively lost over 700 pounds in six months.
“We work to create a relaxing and luxurious environment because it sets the tone for the entire experience,” Jessica explains. “Aesthetic treatments are not just about results—they’re about offering a moment of self-care and helping clients feel pampered and valued.” During the initial consultation, the patient and consultant discuss goals and concerns, assess the treatment area, and outline procedures and expectations. A customized treatment plan is provided, including timelines and pricing.
If you’re considering your first aesthetic treatment, Jessica advises, “Don’t stress! Use your free consultation to ask plenty of questions. It’s important to share your goals, medical history, and concerns so your provider can customize the treatment to suit your individual needs.” Jolie Aesthetics prioritizes a no-pressure environment, ensuring every patient feels comfortable and informed throughout their journey. Jessica emphasizes, “With the right preparation and a dedicated provider, you’ll have a positive and empowering experience!”

This month, we’re celebrating Dixie, a Hungarian Vizsla who perfectly embodies her breed’s nickname: “Velcro dog.” Always at her family’s side, Dixie is as loving as she is energetic. Her day starts with miles-long walks, which only scratch the surface of her boundless energy.
Chasing things is Dixie’s ultimate passion. Though she will chase balls and squirrels, frisbee is her favorite—she chases it with unmatched enthusiasm. With her incredible athleticism, Dixie can hit speeds of nearly 40 mph. Yet, this speedy gal has a softer side, often cuddling with her humans or snuggling by the fire.
Dixie is quite the conversationalist, too, using her repertoire of barks to express herself. And if she’s not getting her way? Expect an adorably dramatic “down dog” pout. With a bed in every room and a heart full of love, Dixie is living her best life and touches the hearts of all she meets.
