HOW TEAM CHEEVER STAYS AHEAD IN PLUMBING AND HEATING
ARTICLE BY VALERIE BIANCULLI
PHOTOGRAPHY BY MICHAEL AASHEIM
Jonathan Cheever’s story is one of dedication, adaptability, and passion. In 2009, he founded Team Cheever Plumbing & Heating while juggling a professional snowboarding career on the U.S. Snowboard Team. “In between racing and practice, I was a oneman crew to keep some sort of cash flow coming in,” he explains. As a second-generation master plumber, Jonathan began learning the trade from his father as early as fifth grade. Team Cheever's expertise includes general plumbing services, heating solutions, water heaters, water systems, energy efficiency, drainage and
sewer systems, and other specialty services such as snow melt systems and garage heaters. After concluding his snowboarding career in 2021, he fully committed to his business, bringing the same focus and energy that fueled his athletic success.
What sets Team Cheever apart is its emphasis on community and care. “We’re family-owned and operated, and our priority is taking care of our customers—they’re our neighbors,” Jonathan shares. His philosophy also extends to his employees. By investing in their well-being and professional development, he ensures they provide top-notch service to customers. This dual focus on relationships and quality has made Team Cheever a trusted name in the community.
The company stays ahead of the curve by adopting the latest trends in plumbing and HVAC technology. Jonathan and his team regularly attend major
industry expos in cities like Chicago and Orlando to explore advancements such as electric boilers and heat pump water heaters. “We’re always looking at how new technology can benefit our customers and deliver energy savings,” he says. Monthly team training sessions ensure that employees are well-versed in cutting-edge systems and can educate homeowners about energy-efficient solutions.
Although plumbing and heating now take center stage, Jonathan’s love for snowboarding hasn’t waned. He still hits the slopes whenever he can, squeezing in after-work laps to stay connected to the sport that shaped his disciplined approach to life and work.
Team Cheever Plumbing & Heating embodies Jonathan’s commitment to excellence, innovation, and community, making it a trusted partner for homeowners seeking reliable service with a personal touch.
“We’re family-owned and operated, and our priority is taking care of our customers— they’re our neighbors.”

2025 HOME Design Trends
PARK CITY BLIND & DESIGN’S EXPERT TIPS ON THIS YEAR’S HOTTEST DESIGN TRENDS
ARTICLE BY MEREDITH LEE PHOTOGRAPHY BY PARK CITY BLIND & DESIGN
This year, interior design is all about embracing bold textures, luxurious materials, and immersive color palettes. Whether you’re updating a single room or your entire home, these five trends promise to elevate your living spaces with sophistication and charm. From dramatic curtains to sleek, minimalist shades, custom window treatments are playing a starring role in tying together these new looks. By pairing rich fabrics with innovative designs, you can effortlessly balance function and beauty, creating a space that feels truly personalized. Here’s how you can incorporate these trends into your decor, with a special focus on the transformative power of custom window treatments.
1. DRAPERY AS A STATEMENT PIECE
Drapery is taking center stage in 2025, moving beyond its traditional role to become an artistic focal point in interiors. From floor-to-ceiling installations to layered fabrics, curtains are a key element of luxurious design.
How to Achieve This Trend:
- Opt for custom draperies in rich, textured fabrics like velvet or silk to create a sense of grandeur.
- Choose pleated designs, contrasting trims, or bold patterns to make your window treatments stand out.
- Pair draperies with sheer curtains or motorized roller shades for a layered, functional look that provides light control and privacy.
2. VELVET—THE FABRIC OF ELEGANCE
Velvet is a timeless material that’s making a big comeback this year. Its soft texture and light-reflecting qualities add warmth and luxury to any room.
How to Achieve This Trend:
- Incorporate velvet into your window treatments, such as plush velvet curtains in deep jewel tones like emerald green or navy blue.
- Use velvet tiebacks or accents to bring a touch of this trend to your existing drapery.
- Coordinate velvet window treatments with other elements, like upholstered furniture or throw pillows, for a cohesive look.
3. COLOR AND PATTERN DRENCHING
Color and pattern drenching involves saturating a space in a single hue or pattern, creating a bold, cohesive look. This trend offers a dramatic yet harmonious aesthetic.
How to Achieve This Trend:
- Extend your chosen color or pattern to your window treatments by selecting draperies or Roman shades in matching tones.
- Use patterned fabrics to coordinate curtains with upholstered furniture, walls, or area rugs.
- For a more subtle approach, choose a monochromatic palette and vary the textures across drapery, walls, and furnishings.
4. UPHOLSTERED WALLS FOR A COZY TOUCH
Upholstered walls are a rapidly growing trend, adding warmth, texture, and sound insulation to interiors. While this trend is commonly seen in bedrooms and studies, it pairs beautifully with elegant, custom window treatments.
How to Achieve This Trend:
- Complement upholstered walls with draperies in matching or contrasting fabrics for a cohesive design.
- Choose window treatments with padded valances to echo the softness of upholstered walls.
- Try out bold colors or patterns in your drapery to add depth and dimension to the space.
5. FLAME STITCH PATTERNS FOR DYNAMIC ENERGY
The flame stitch pattern is making waves in 2025, bringing its zigzagging lines and vibrant energy back to home decor. This timeless motif is perfect for adding movement and interest to a room.
How to Achieve This Trend:
- Use flame stitch patterns in custom Roman shades or drapery panels to make a bold statement.
- Pair patterned window treatments with neutral walls and furniture to let the design take center stage.
- Incorporate coordinating accessories, like throw pillows or rugs, for a cohesive yet dynamic look.
WHY CUSTOM WINDOW TREATMENTS MATTER:
Each of these trends showcases the versatility of window treatments in transforming a space. Custom draperies, shades, and blinds allow you to:
- Tailor designs to fit your unique style and preferences.
- Achieve high-quality finishes that enhance the overall aesthetic of your home.
- Enjoy functional benefits like improved light control, energy efficiency, and privacy.
Whether you’re inspired by the elegance of velvet, the boldness of flame stitch patterns, or the cohesive beauty of color drenching, Park City Blind and Design can bring your vision to life. Their expert team specializes in blending function with style, ensuring that every window treatment complements your space beautifully. How Garbett Homes Redefines Modern Housing in Utah
ARTICLE BY VALERIE BIANCULLI
PHOTOGRAPHY COURTESY OF GARBETT HOMES
Garbett Homes has carved out a niche in Utah's housing market by focusing on what truly matters: sustainability and energy efficiency. As Glenn Hoggan, their marketing manager, puts it, "At Garbett Homes, we walk the talk. We're not just proposing to be a green builder—that is the niche we've carved out for ourselves." With their commitment to building Zero Energy Ready Homes, Garbett leads the way in creating homes that not only look beautiful but are also better for the planet and homeowners' wallets.
The term "Zero Energy Ready" might sound technical, but it reflects a high standard of construction that ensures homes are so energy-efficient that their energy needs can be offset with renewable sources like solar. "We are always looking to innovate and continuously improve," Glenn explains. This focus on sustainability goes beyond marketing; Garbett's homes are built to meet stringent standards set by the U.S. Department of Energy, providing buyers with unmatched energy savings, comfort, and durability.
In communities like Axis in Millcreek, Garbett’s innovative approach is on full display. Axis is an all-electric townhome community designed to be a charming addition to the popular east foothills. These three-story homes embody cutting-edge design and function, showcasing how sustainability can merge seamlessly with style. Each home also prioritizes energy efficiency
without sacrificing modern amenities, offering homeowners a future-forward living experience.
Even if you're not in the market for a new home, Glenn offers valuable advice for making your current home more energy-efficient. "The things that make your home most efficient are the systems—things you don't necessarily see," he says. Paying attention to the upkeep of essential systems like furnaces, selecting paint colors that minimize heat absorption, and maintaining good insulation are practical steps anyone can take to reduce energy consumption. Small upgrades, like installing a programmable thermostat or sealing air leaks, can also make a noticeable difference. Regular maintenance of windows, doors, and HVAC systems further ensures optimal performance and energy savings over time.
“AT GARBETT HOMES, WE WALK THE TALK. WE’RE NOT JUST PROPOSING TO BE A GREEN BUILDER.”
For Garbett homeowners, the benefits of energy-efficient living are clear. While high-efficiency homes require an upfront investment, the long-term savings on energy costs far outweigh the initial expense. "It’s an investment," Glenn says, "but what you save in the long run makes it worthwhile." Beyond the financial perks, homeowners also enjoy healthier living environments and the satisfaction of reducing their carbon footprint.
Education is a cornerstone of Garbett's philosophy. Their website features a blog filled with insights into home systems, offering resources for anyone looking to build or improve an energy-efficient home. Their team, including sales and marketing specialist Janie Despain Mathis, is dedicated to helping buyers navigate their options. Whether through one-on-one consultations or email updates, Garbett ensures every client feels informed and empowered.
"It's so easy to talk about these homes because they are so innovative and beautiful," says Glenn. These homes are shaping the future of sustainable living in Utah. Whether you’re drawn to the energy savings, the innovative designs, or the ecofriendly mission, a Garbett home is more than a place to live—it’s a step toward a better future.

BATHROOM REMODEL
Refresh Your Home with The Black Goose Design
Brand new flooring can be expensive. If you have tile that feels a bit dated, paint could be just the ticket. Yes, you can actually paint ceramic tile, which provides all sorts of creative potential. The trick is a durable topcoat.
Transforming a bathroom into a stylish, functional space doesn’t have to break the bank. In this featured article from The Black Goose Design , discover practical tips and creative ideas for achieving a stunning bathroom remodel on a budget.
We’ve already had so many ask, so we’ll start with this FAQ –what paint did we use? We went with:
• Intrigue by Benjamin Moore
• Swiss Coffee by Benjamin Moore
• Accessible Beige by Sherwin Williams
This building was built in the early 1900s. Due to structural difficulties, we couldn’t necessarily move walls or make drastic changes, but we were able to drop the height of the bathroom ceiling. The new ceiling presented the perfect space to add can lights. Updated lighting is a quick, cost-effective way to make a BIG difference in any room.
We updated the large cabinetry with a fresh coat of paint (Intrigue by Benjamin Moore) and new hardware, which added instant sophistication. The walls received fresh paint, as well as gorgeous wallpaper. Along the seam, we added a chair rail, and wainscoting provided the finishing touch. If you have floor tile that feels dated, paint could be just the ticket. Yes, you can actually paint ceramic tile, which provides all sorts of creative potential. The trick is a durable topcoat. We used the Corotech Command by Benjamin Moore.
The sink is a focal feature in any bathroom, so this is where much of our budget was invested. We had a new countertop and faucet installed. We also added fresh paint, updated hardware, a new mirror, and a cool pendant light. We also incorporated classic countertop decor, all of which is available at The Black Goose Design.
This is a long, lean bathroom. Using the same paint color on the cabinets, walls and woodwork with clean lines all help to make this space feel more welcoming. Credenzas, buffets, sideboards, and sofa tables are also all options that tend to work well in narrow areas. Plus, since bathroom storage is often a high priority,
this provides a space for smaller baskets that help keep your everyday items within reach and organized.
More than anything, we wanted this redesign to stay true to its roots. Features like original light switches, the blank window above the door, and the radiator all add charm and personality. With every design choice we made, we were careful to select finishes that play to the original character of the building.
If this piqued your interest, stop by The Black Goose Design to discuss your next remodel. We’d love to share pointers and help get you started.

This is one of my constant “go to” DIY projects. It’s fast, it’s easy and it looks oh so professional. I love displaying photos, but I don’t necessarily love a lot of photo frames. These canvases create a crisp, clean look... All in about 30 minutes! Let’s get started.
DIY Photo To Canvas In A Snap
ARTICLE BY ANGI HOCKETT | PHOTOGRAPHY BY JANIE JONES
STEP 1:
First things first, grab your supplies.
• Photo on photo paper
• 1 ½ inch thick wrapped canvas
• Mod Podge in Matte finish
• Black spray paint in Satin finish
• Clear spray paint in Satin finish
• 4 inch or 6 inch foam paint roller
• Small paint tray
Place your photo on the clean, dry canvas to make sure it fits correctly. Trim if necessary.
STEP 2:
Spray paint the canvas sides and a little of the top with the black spray paint. It is VERY important to let this dry completely.
STEP 3:
Using your foam roller, roll Mod Podge over the entire top of the canvas. Center your photo on top of the wet Mod Podge. Smooth the photo with your hands starting in the middle and pushing out toward the edges
STEP 4:
Roll a thin even layer of Mod Podge over your photo. This is a little scary “painting” over your photo, but I promise it will dry clear. Once it is covered with a thin layer start at one side and roll straight rows from side to side, in the same direction, as to avoid roller lines once it dries. If you see small bubbles in the wet Mod Podge, it is too thick. Thin it out by taking an almost dry roller over the photo to lift some of the Mod Podge. Repeat until the bubbles are gone. Let this dry completely.
STEP 5:
Spray the top and sides of the entire canvas and photo with satin spray paint. Dry…Hang….High Five. Congratulations on your new Photo Canvas!
This same technique can be used on 4x4 tiles of your choice to create custom coasters. You will add a bit of Peel and Stick Cork or felt to the back of the tile so the coaster doesn’t scratch. Cheers!
