If the last name doesn’t give it away, my husband is Italian. (Actually half. Sorry, Matt) I might get some backlash for saying this but the stereotypes of your typical Italian family dynamic are pretty on point. The Giarratano’s are loud, food is a legitimate love language, they fight big, laugh big, and love really big. I say all of this with no judgement, but instead I’m lucky enough to receive this genuine love and contribute to the beautiful chaos.
I wanted to share a story from my husband’s childhood that he tells often and completely encompasses the theme of home. When Matt was about 8 years old, he went over to a friend’s house for a sleepover. He quickly realized that life at his friend’s home was lacking the liveliness that Matt’s home always encompassed. Bedtime came and he knew things were winding down for the night. If you know Matt, you quickly come to realize that he brings life to any room, and comes alive at night- a true night owl; both his best quality and worst! Matt ended up calling his dad to come pick him up and bring him back home, because the play date was not living up to his expectations!
When Matt arrived home, he opened the front door to a house filled with all the lights on, pasta being made on the stovetop, and his siblings running around. He was home, and everything felt right in the world! I feel like this is the ultimate compliment to his parents; they had managed to create such a safe and welcoming space for their kids that brought a peace. This just shows the importance of home; it’s meant to be a place of safety and peace.
As you read the features in this issue, you will see that commonality within each story. These personalities in Nashville know they are investing in such a sacred place of their clients and to help set an environment that is meant to be the foundation of memories to be made.

Meet the Nashville-based interior designer creating homes with heart & history.
Specializing in American country and primitive furniture and accessories, Kevin Corn is a talented expert in interior design. After graduating with an Art History degree from Sacramento State University, the Northern California native took a summer job at the Ralph Lauren store in San Francisco to further learn the ins and outs of home design. Working there for nearly twenty years, he worked his way up to their Creative Services Division, where he was responsible for the design and décor of many of the Polo stores and showrooms. After leaving Ralph Lauren, he took a job at a design firm in Los Angeles - only for it to fall through. This inspired him to take a leap and open a business of his own.
“I just fell into it,” Corn shares, explaining he never planned to open his own business. “Out of the blue, the day after the job fell through, I got a phone call from someone who I had met in Aspen, Colorado… he and his wife had bought a house and were wondering if I would be interested in making it look great.”

This job was only the start of what was to become a successful and fulfilling career for Kevin; after starting his own firm in Los Angeles, Kevin Corn Design, he began furthering his presence and work in Aspen in addition to Southern California. Sharing that he enjoys styling homes based on the location and architecture of the space, his personal approach stems from his remarkable ability to marry his client’s practical needs with their desires and memories of how a home should feel and function. When clients walk into their freshly designed home, it is Kevin’s goal that they think of themselves, their family, and their memories rather than think of him. Working in multiple styles from contemporary to luxury to rustic, Kevin’s website highlights the multiple styles of work he has done for clients.
In 2019, Kevin relocated to Music City where he has since expanded his clientele and further familiarized himself with southern design. In October of 2023, he opened an antique and vintage shop in a restored Victorian house in East Nashville that aims to provide clients, and the design trade, interesting one-of-a-kind pieces. While Kevin’s personal style focuses on
vintage Americana, his shop features items with traditional, southern style, but shares only a glimpse inside his catalog. Utilizing the space as a spot to create community, he also offers up the shop for events and pop-ups for other designers.
Kevin’s relationship with his clients is something he truly values, and it speaks volumes that his clients continue to want his expertise and advice when it comes to designing additional homes. Helping his clients achieve their vision of their dream home is not only fulfilling to Kevin, but a dream of his own. He recalls a moment earlier in his career when he was on his hands and knees adjusting a rug underneath a couch for a client’s home - in that particular moment, he had an epiphany that this was what he was meant to do. Not only is he grateful for his clients trusting in his work, but also for the lasting friendships he has made with them along the way.
“I’ve watched [clients’] kids grow up - I’ve gone to graduations, birthday parties - it’s great to have that shorthand vocabulary with clients you’ve worked with for a long time over the years,” he shares.
In addition to his patience and knowledge when customizing pieces for a client’s interiors, Corn takes pride in completing projects timely with financial responsibility and transparency. For more information on Kevin Corn Design or to view a portfolio of his work, visit kevincorndesign.com

ARTICLE BY ADDY BIGGERS, REAL ESTATE BROKER
PHOTOGRAPHY BY TOMMY
PHOTHISANE | LOCATION: GALERIE, WEDGEWOOD HOUSTON
Addy Biggers share's her insight on thriving in Nashville’s real estate market and her network that has made it all possible.
As Nashville continues to evolve into one of the most dynamic real estate markets, thriving here requires fostering relationships, building partnerships, and a collaborative mindset. This philosophy “If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, find your tribe and go together” has shaped my approach to real estate and is the foundation of my work.
Having lived in Nashville for over 40 years, I’ve witnessed firsthand the city’s transformation into a thriving metropolitan hub. Everyday, I meet new clients who are moving here for career opportunities, a better quality of life, or simply to be part of Music City’s vibrant culture. There’s something special about helping them feel a sense of belonging in a community that welcomes them.
Real estate isn’t just my career—it’s personal. My family immigrated to Nashville in 1983 as refugees. Growing up, I watched my parents work tirelessly to create stability for our family. My most cherished memory is standing beside my father at Regions Bank as he made his final mortgage payment. That experience shaped my understanding of real estate beyond just buying and selling homes; it’s about security, generational wealth, and the ability to plant roots in a place you love.
That’s why my passion for real estate is about changing lives—whether it’s helping a family purchase their first home, guiding a retiree through downsizing, or assisting an investor in securing a lucrative property. Every deal is a story and a step toward a brighter future.
My real estate journey has been filled with incredible opportunities, challenges, and lessons that have shaped me into the broker I am today. I’ve had the privilege of serving as Principal Broker for two prestigious firms. In both roles, I played a pivotal part in driving growth, increasing sales, and fostering a culture of collaboration. Within my first year at each firm, I contributed to a significant rise in sales volume, helping agents elevate their businesses, and guiding clients toward success.
I work alongside some of the best in the industry. My experience allows me to offer a high level of expertise to my clients; ensuring they receive nothing less than excellence in every step of their real estate journey.
"MY PASSION IS ABOUT CHANGING LIVES...EVERY DEAL IS A STORY AND A STEP TOWARD A BRIGHTER FUTURE. REAL ESTATE IS ABOUT CREATING A NETWORK OF TRUSTED PROFESSIONALS WHO WORK TOGETHER TO SERVE CLIENTS AT THE HIGHEST LEVEL.”
I have been fortunate to have mentors and partners who have shaped my career. Donnel Milam was the first person who encouraged me to step into this industry; her belief in my potential fueled my confidence.
Jenilee Anthony is someone who was instrumental in me launching my career. Jenilee is an exceptional real estate agent, and is someone I admire professionally and personally. Her work ethic and integrity in serving clients set a standard that I strive to uphold.
One of the most influential people in my career has been Mike Post. Mike has demonstrated that being knowledgeable, strategic, and results-driven is important, but character and authenticity are what truly set you apart. His guidance has helped me refine my approach to business, improve my leadership skills, and remember that relationships always come first.
The expertise and support from Katie Rosenthal and Chapman and Rosenthal Title, LLC, makes every client experience more seamless. Real estate is about creating a network of trusted professionals who work together to serve clients at the highest level.
My husband, Kurston Biggers, has been a part of Brentwood Academy for over 20 years. He has served on the admissions team, as a football coach, and as the wellness director. His work is about shaping character, instilling discipline, and helping students recognize their potential. Kurston's ability to lead with integrity, push others toward excellence, and foster a sense of camaraderie is something I deeply admire.
Our daughter, Avery Ann, is a student at Brentwood Academy. Watching her grow in an environment that values faith, education, and community reinforces why we do what we do. In an industry that demands dedication, my family reminds me of what truly matters.
I’m grateful to continue this journey alongside my family, and my clients. If you have questions about buying, selling, or simply what it’s like to live in Middle Tennessee, I would love to connect with you. Together, we can turn your real estate dreams into reality.

The Curtain Call is a Nashville-based business that specializes in creating custom window treatments, including drapery, Roman shades, shutters, roller shades, and blinds. With a team of skilled artisans and craftsmen, they take each detail into consideration and work closely with their clients to deliver innovative and personalized solutions for homes and businesses. Primarily serving the design industry, The Curtain Call works closely with interior designers. First, they measure their clients’ house and windows and provide an estimate, then they work with the client to find their ideal fabrics before finally manufacturing their one-of-akind product. The team at The Curtain Call is committed to high quality craftsmanship, providing all kinds of customized soft goods from bed coverings, pillows, cushions, and beyond.
Cade Smith, CEO of The Curtain Call, was born and raised in Pensacola, Florida. In 1999, he moved to Tennessee, where he lived all over the state before landing in Nashville. Sewing his first garment in sixth grade, Smith explains he was always ready to take on the next project; It wasn’t until high school that he began sewing again, when he helped create costumes for his school’s theater program. After graduating, he studied Classical Voice Performance at Trevecca University and later began working
for a nonprofit educational children’s theater as the Director of Education and Outreach. Simultaneously, he owned a private voice studio where he taught thirty-two students from eighth grade through high school.
Ready to embark on his next endeavor, Smith went back to school to finish his degree – this time, in Fiber Arts. Graduating in May of 2020, he found himself at a crossroad, as many did at the beginning of the pandemic. During this time, he relocated to his hometown of Florida to be by his family.
In 2022, Smith moved back to Nashville and began working at the postal service. One day, he wandered upon The Curtain Call, and thinking it was theater related, opened the door to look inside; to his surprise, he was surrounded by fabrics and sewing machines. After speaking with the owner and keeping in touch, he was hired to help sew a year later, in September of 2022. CONTINUED
I’M DOING THIS BECAUSE I WANT TO BRING RESPECT AND SUCCESS TO DESIGNERS THROUGH EXCELLENT EDUCATION, INNOVATIVE PRODUCTS, AND OUTSTANDING HUMAN CONNECTIONS.
“One night, working late, I thought to myself ‘what am I doing? What is my purpose?” he shares. “I wrote down on a piece of paper, that is still sitting here on my desk, ‘I’m doing this because I want to bring respect and success to professional designers through excellent education, innovative products, and outstanding human connections.’”
Little did he know then that five months later, in May of 2023, he was going to acquire The Curtain Call and establish a
million-dollar company! Taking the time to curate a skilled and energetic staff, Smith went from being the sole employee to having a talented team of twelve. It has been a goal of his to properly educate all his employees, so they feel confident to deliver each product to the best of their ability. Earning praise from clients all over for their teams’ infinite efforts to create intricate, specialized designs, their hard work continues to pay off as The Curtain Call closed 2024 with a 660% increase in sales from the previous year!
With Nashville as their home base, The Curtain Call actively serves clients in eight states in addition to Canada. While they make and install custom draperies
and provide custom hardware, they are excited for future opportunities that allow them to create unique, out-ofthe-ordinary pieces. From the time they receive all fabric and trim along with the deposit, their average turnaround time is eight to twelve weeks. Hand stitching at every opportunity possible, The Curtain Call values the importance of the quality of their items.
“We’re constantly pushing towards better quality rather than quicker lead
times. Everyone wants everything fast –and I love getting things to them quickly – but we’re not going to sacrifice quality for speed,” Smith shares.
“It’s invigorating,” Smith shares, on what the support from the Nashville design community has meant to him. “I have had established workrooms call and ask for my opinion for guidance on how they should do something… designers who have been doing this for forty years… and I think it’s a mutual trust and respect I’ve been developing throughout the design industry as well as the workroom industry.”
