Hey, fashionistas!
SEPTEMBER 2017
W
hen big-time Atlanta fashion journalist and entrepreneur Tova Gelfond (Eide Magazine) paused for a minute to become a mother, we coyly asked if she'd be willing to join our fashion issue as a guest editor. Between moving house (she moved from Sandy Springs to Grant Park recently) and welcoming the precious Ayla, Tova explored a fall fashion outlook for us. Lucky you! Enjoy Tova's picks and look for more from her (if we're really lucky).

We have a fun reader promo for you. Perimeter Chef Linda Harrell is excited to welcome James Beard Awardwinning entrepreneur and highly acclaimed Chef Virginia Willis to Food 101 on September 21 for an evening to celebrate a true Southern's favorite vegetable: grits! Perimeter North Lifestyle magazine is thrilled to have her in the house and will be giving away two tickets to this special dinner on our Facebook page! Chef Willis' newest book and an inspiration for the event, Grits, can be purchased and autographed at the dinner. While enjoying a screening of the award-winning short film by Stan Woodward, "It's Grits," guests will indulge in cocktails and hors d'oeuvres, including shrimp and grits pâté on brioche toast and stone ground cheese and sausage grits beignets. Additionally, the chefs have created a specialty 4-course menu for $60 per person (or be our winner) featuring Anson Mills Antebellum crabs and grits cake with arugula; St. Andre grits souffle with balsamic blackberries; pan roasted duck with coffee demi, wild mushroom grits gnocchi and quail egg; and finally a Riverview Farms stone ground grits cake. Food 101 is a Sandy Springs neighborhood staple that offers Southern-inspired, cuttingedge comfort food. From the entrepreneurial team behind 101 Concepts (101 Steak, Meehan's Public House, Cibo e Beve, Smoke Ring, Restaurant Paradis), it has earned a reputation for its trailblazing efforts and maintaining a perfect balance between comfort and innovation. Go to Perimeter North's Facebook page, like and share the event to be entered to win tix to the September 21 dinner. Enjoy this stylish issue and stay gorgeous!

They head to Hammock’s, voted one of the Top 100 Neighborhood Restaurants in the U.S. by the Wall Street Journal, as well as a local Top 10 Political Hangout. Although they just missed the daily 4-6 p.m. oyster happy hour, they have a happy hour of their own tasting some of Sweet Caroline’s Cakes new bundt cakes and wedding cake flavors, like salted caramel, along with a glass of prosecco. Dinner will be the famed beer battered grouper (of course). We say cheers to not only an action-packed day in and around our communities, but cheers to Sunny Bailey for contributing to and helping preserve a part of its history!

Here she meets with her event manager Abbey Fitzgerald to go over the coming weekend’s events (two weddings and a 70th birthday party), complete a dress fitting with a brideto-be, meet with a company considering the hall for their holiday party, have a photo shoot with a previous bride, groom and their new baby, and check emails on the porch--all in lightning speed! Sunny says she’s able to do so much so quickly because of both her staff and her local vendor partners. “They are some of the most incredible people I’ve ever met!”

BIKER BINGE
The popular biker jacket from last winter is not going anywhere. In fact, it’s getting amped up a notch with leather and pleather outerwear inspired with more patterns, stitching and feminine touches. Be experimental with your moto manifesto by throwing a classic leather jacket over a maxi dress or jumpsuit. Bring in other expedition elements though leather biker boots and metal studs. SHOW ‘EM YOUR STRIPE S
Stripes remind us of faraway places, like nautical navy lines that take you to beaches unknown. But this season’s stripes are not in the norm — they’re gutsy, bright and come in all shapes, sizes and colors. Having bold lines on your fashion pieces this season will not only amplify your look, but can accentuate your body. Use slenderizing vertical streaks to show off your curves and whittle your waist. Or use horizontal bars to enhance your bustline or hip area. Alfani Striped Tunic Shirt, $79.50, Macy’s. TURN ON THE TEXTURE S
Fall fashion textures are like an epic mashup of textile’s greatest hits. Velvet has made its return to the limelight to critical acclaim, but is more elevated than last season. The soft, crushed fabric can be found with patterns, shoes and accessories, and worn with suedes and silks. Full lace and mesh will be big as well, carrying from the summer into the winter season and you can wear it in any way, from headbands to handbags. Lace Shift Dress, $68, Abercrombie & Fitch. HEAVY METALS
Partially part of an ’80s revival, and also due to a general obsession with shine, metallic fabrics and accessories will steal the spotlight with golds, pewters, silvers and bronze. Don’t be afraid to have fun with these tinny tones even in a casual getup. Metallic sneakers pair perfectly with a disco-ball top or muted dress. However you want to represent this lustrous trend, it’s hard to go wrong, so fully embrace this glitteratti statement. FRYE Lena Harness High, $258, Frye Atlanta. COLLAR CHAMELE ON
This fall, it’s all about the neckline, and you can do better than the average turtleneck. Victorian collars with Shakespeare-era ruffles have donned the runways, and it doesn’t stop there. From oversized lapels and lacy ribbons to bows, bows and more bows, feel free to have fun while covering your decollete. And perhaps the best part? You don’t have to worry about a necklace when go you all in on the collar-centric style. Rebecca Taylor La Vie Indochine Dress, $375, and Satin Jacquard Scarf Top, $275, both Rebecca Taylor

A Flawless Career Choice ARTICLE DENNIS MALCOLM BYRON

isely capitalizing on Atlanta’s steady growth economically, socially and physically inside and outside its perimeter, Scott Csaszar made a drastic career change and became an entrepreneur in an industry that had
a future just as promising; he became the founder and CEO of Flawless Painting in March of 2000. Now completing its 16th year of beautifying homes and business spaces throughout Georgia, Flawless has a golden reputation, numerous awards, and accolades (including Best of Houzz 2015, 2016 and 2017) enabling Csaszar to expand his business in multiple states. Originally from Philadelphia, Pa., Csaszar, 49, recounted how life’s misfortunes sometimes help pave the way for other opportunities. Flawless, based in Roswell, was certainly the most life-altering one. “Unfortunately, I was downsized in corporate America and I fell back on a skill I love to do, which is transforming homes and businesses,” Csaszar says. “I learned this trait as a teenager working alongside my brother. I started this company to cover my expenses and survive. After assisting many customers for over a year and a half on my own, I quickly realized Atlanta really needed a reputable painting company.” From taking on single-home jobs in the early stages, Flawless now specializes in a plethora of services including all aspects of residential and commercial painting for both interior and exterior projects; deck staining and painting; wood-rot repairs; kitchen cabinet transformations; and color consultations to list a few. And while the work Flawless does is often very demanding and meticulous, the rewards make it all worthwhile. “The greatest challenge is making sure we take care of each customer’s home the way I expect my painters to take care of my own home,” Csaszar explains. “Another tough task is accommodating all needs and expectations. And last, the challenge of being flexible and able to adapt to changing weather conditions. However, in the end, what I enjoy the most is getting repeat satisfied customers. After all the work and effort that goes into completing a project, I specifically enjoy hearing a customer say, ‘I appreciate the work done and thank you!’” When asked about some of the most memorable projects he has taken on, Csaszar initially listed projects with renowned builders, architects, and a major hotel chain based in Florida. And then he laughed and added one more, “The most extravagant and eccentric project we have done to date is painting a mansion for the number one TV series on the Oxygen network called Bad Girls of Atlanta.” Along with implementing the numerous current trends including everyone using “crisp, fresh and bright colors,” using eco-friendly paint, Csaszar is looking forward to what the warm months of Georgia’s capital and beyond have in store. “With beautiful Atlanta weather, spring and summer really represent our busy season for exterior projects,” he says. “To name one in particular, we recently have just been awarded the opportunity to paint 55 customer homes.” Ultimately, Csaszar welcomes the consistent business and plans for an extremely busy summer, but he was quick to emphasize the overall goal. “No matter how successful we are, Flawless plans to continue to grow by using the same philosophy—taking care of one customer at a time.” For more information, visit FlawlessPainting.com . 678.386.7899

NORTHSIDE HOSPITAL: BUILDING STRONGER, HEALTHIER COMMUNITIES H
ospitals are committed to providing the best possible health care to the communities they serve. This is certainly true at
Northside Hospital, where their commitment to support healthier patients and create a stronger, healthier community fabric extends beyond the hospital’s walls. Northside Hospital continues to develop strong relationships with organizations that champion a culture of wellness and stewardship in the community. Health care, education, awareness and advocacy intersect through these partnerships. Women’s health and wellness is a key health care need in Atlanta. Northside partners with the Georgia Ovarian Cancer Alliance to help raise funds for ovarian cancer research and Hadassah Greater Atlanta to provide breast cancer education to high school girls. Northside participates in the annual March for Babies event, the oldest walking fundraiser in the country, and collaborates with the March of Dimes to reduce incidences of early elective deliveries throughout the state. More babies are born at Northside Hospital in Atlanta than at any other hospital in country, making their valued partnership with March of Dimes a hand-in-hand relationship. Northside also partners with some of Georgia’s leading athletic organizations to promote health and fitness including the Atlanta Braves, the Atlanta Track Club and the Bicycle Ride Across Georgia.
