The Core Wellness Pavilion will be the focal point of VOTI’s enhanced campus, which also includes an expansion of the pet-friendly Emerald Terraces neighborhood. This addition will introduce 54 new apartments ranging from 1,300 to 1,800 square feet, each with spacious floor plans, large terrace lanai, high ceilings, full-size kitchens, and walk-in closets. The new year is a time for renewal—physically, emotionally, and mentally. While many advertisements focus on the need to change or improve, The Contour Day Spa encourages a more nurturing approach to self-care.
“Self-care has never been more important,” said owner Lori Bailey. “As you move forward with your 2025 intentions, include rituals that enhance not just your appearance but also your sense of empowerment.” For example, CoolSculpting® is an investment in oneself “that does wonders for our confidence and well-being,” she added.
In October 2024, The Contour Day Spa celebrated its fifth anniversary and was named one of the Top 50 CoolSculpting® providers nationwide—an honor and milestone that highlights its commitment to exceptional care and proven results in a private, personalized setting. Since founding the Spa, Bailey, a registered nurse, has focused on body contouring and skin rejuvenation, offering advanced treatments like these:
CoolSculpting®: This leading non-invasive fat reduction treatment uses controlled cooling to target stubborn areas like love handles, belly fat, and under the chin. Frozen fat cells are naturally eliminated, revealing a more contoured shape. “Many clients pair CoolSculpting® with weight loss medications to fine-tune their results,” Bailey notes.
Morpheus8: Youthful Skin, Naturally: Combining microneedling with radiofrequency, this treatment stimulates collagen and elastin production, improving wrinkles, scars, and skin laxity on the face and body.
SkinMedica® Peels and Facials: Chemical peels exfoliate and renew skin, addressing hyperpigmentation, fine lines, and sun damage. Relaxing SkinMedica® facials maintain your glow and extend results with tailored options like dermaplaning or anti-aging treatments.
The Contour Day Spa also offers Lumecca intense pulsed light (IPL) treatments, which improve skin clarity by addressing sun damage, brown spots, and vascular lesions on both the face and body. ARTICLE BY KARLA BLAKE
Can you explain Medicare Part A, B, C, and D?
Medicare has 4 Parts, Part A is Hospital, Part B is Medical, Part C is a Medicare Advantage Plan, and Part D is your Drug plan. Part A & B is your federal coverage. Part B has a premium based on your income. If you choose Original Medicare, Part A & B will cover 80% and it leaves a 20% gap. A Medigap or a Supplemental policy picks up the 20% gap. Part D is for your prescriptions or D for drugs. Part C is a Medicare Advantage Plan, it will bundle your A,B and D. It is a managed healthcare plan, and government subsidized. When starting on Medicare, you have 2 choices. Either a Medicare Advantage Plan (Part C) or Original Medicare with a supplemental policy.
When is my Initial Enrollment Period?
Your initial enrollment period begins three months before your 65th birthday month and three months after your birthday month. It is a seven-month window. You apply for Part B through Social Security.
What is a common mistake people make when enrolling Medicare?
A common mistake people make is not understanding the differences between Part C (Medicare Advantage Plan) which is not guaranteed renewable. And Original Medicare with a Supplemental (Medigap) policy, which is private insurance and is guaranteed renewable for the rest of your life as long as you have no lapse in coverage. When you are new to Medicare you are a GI (guaranteed issue), and you will have no underwriting. Pre-existing conditions don’t matter. If a person chooses a Part C plan and realizes it was a mistake in a few years. They will have to now pass underwriting to get a Supplement to Original Medicare.
I just moved to Venice from out of state and I am losing my Medicare Advantage Plan, what do I do?
You will get a letter from your MA plan. Keep it, that is proof of involuntary disenrollment and you can get back to Original Medicare without underwriting! Moving out of coverage area puts you in a Special Enrollment Period. (SEP)
Can I move out of state and take my Medicare Supplemental Insurance with me, or do I have to buy a new policy in my new state?
All standard Medicare Supplement Plans are portable, so there is no need to change when moving.
Can I take a trip within the U.S. and still be covered by my Medicare Supplement Plan?
Yes. One of the main advantages of Original Medicare with a Supplement is the ability to go to any doctor, any specialist, any hospital nationwide, as long as Medicare is accepted. A Medicare Supplement is your secondary coverage.
In 2024 and 2025 many of the companies are doing away with PPO’s. What should I do?
The insurance company will send a letter. Save the letter, it’s proof of involuntary disenrollment. You can get Original Medicare with a Supplement as a GI without going through underwriting. Then you can go to any doctor, any specialist, and hospital anywhere in the US that takes Medicare. Medicare A & B will pay 80 % and the Supplement picks up the 20% gap.
What is Medicare General Enrollment Period (GEP), or the Medicare Advantage Open Enrollment was formerly known as the Medicare Disenrollment Period?
The Medicare General Enrollment is January 1-March 31. During this time a person could enroll in Medicare if they missed their Initial Enrollment Period (IEP) when they turned 65. Coverage will not start until July 1st and a penalty is applied to their Part B premium. Also, during this time, you can make changes to your existing coverage. Some people have made selections during the Annual Enrollment Period that they regret. During this time, you can switch from a Medicare Advantage Plan back to Original Medicare if you can pass underwriting.
I am ready to leave my employer coverage. How do I apply for Medicare?
You have guaranteed issue rights for a supplement with all health conditions accepted and any waiting periods waived regardless of if it’s voluntary or involuntary. When applying for your Part B, you will need to show proof of employer coverage so as not to be penalized. Form CMS-L564.
How do I make changes to the Part D prescription plan?
Part D plans can be changed once a year during the annual enrollment period from October 15th to December 7th and coverage begins the following calendar year.

offers 30-minute Isometric workouts and dynamic 15-minute High-Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) sessions inside an infrared sauna environment.
combines heat, infrared energy, and exercise in a unique "3D Training" approach, setting it apart from other fitness programs.
HOTWORX in Venice is redefining fitness with its unique fusion of infrared heat and virtual workouts. This 24/7 studio offers a range of high-intensity and isometric sessions, all set within infrared saunas to maximize results in less time. Whether you’re aiming for muscle recovery, weight loss, stress reduction, or a more convenient fitness option, HOTWORX has something for everyone.
1. Muscle Recovery: HOTWORX combines the science of infrared heat with a variety of workouts to accelerate muscle recovery. The infrared saunas penetrate deep into the muscle tissue, promoting circulation and alleviating post-workout soreness. These heat-based sessions create an optimal environment for reducing inflammation and relaxing muscles, making HOTWORX ideal for people of all fitness levels to recover faster and get back to achieving their goals.
2. Weight Loss: HOTWORX is a game-changer for those focused on weight loss. Each 15-minute HIIT or 30-minute isometric session is enhanced by infrared heat, which boosts heart rate and calorie burn, leading to faster results. The heat accelerates the body’s natural sweating process, helping members detoxify while burning more calories in less time. Whether it's through Hot Cycle, Hot Yoga, or Hot Blast, HOTWORX makes weight loss both efficient and effective.
3. Stress Reduction: The calm and soothing environment at HOTWORX, combined with the gentle warmth of infrared saunas, creates a unique space for stress relief. Members can de-stress and decompress in a peaceful setting that promotes mental relaxation while physically exerting the body. The infrared sauna's benefits include reducing cortisol levels, easing tension, and supporting an overall sense of well-being. This stress reduction goes beyond the workout and leaves members feeling refreshed and balanced.
4. Better Sleep: Sessions at HOTWORX can significantly enhance sleep quality by promoting relaxation
and stress reduction. The infrared heat encourages the release of endorphins and lowers cortisol levels, calming the body and mind after each session. This leads to deeper, more restorative sleep, helping you wake up refreshed and rejuvenated. Regular workouts at HOTWORX can be an effective tool for combating insomnia and improving overall sleep patterns.
5. Improved Skin Quality: HOTWORX workouts contribute to healthier, glowing skin through the detoxifying effects of infrared saunas. Increased circulation helps deliver oxygen and nutrients to the skin, while sweating flushes out toxins, reducing blemishes and improving tone. Over time, regular infrared exposure can enhance elasticity and reduce the appearance of fine lines, promoting a radiant, youthful complexion. It’s a workout that benefits you from the inside out!
6. 24/7 Access: HOTWORX understands the importance of flexibility, offering 24/7 access to its studios, allowing members to work out whenever it’s most convenient. With round-the-clock availability, members can fit their workouts into even the busiest schedules, promoting a consistent routine that leads to better health, strength, and a leaner body. The freedom to "earn your burn" any time of day is one of the many reasons HOTWORX is transforming fitness for people everywhere.
7. Easy-to-Use App for Tracking Progress: HOTWORX’s user-friendly app makes it easier than ever to stay on top of your fitness goals. Members can book sessions, track calories burned, and even unlock rewards for reaching new milestones. The app also encourages community and motivation by allowing users to compete with friends or other members. This technology enhances the HOTWORX experience, making fitness accessible and enjoyable.

The Celebrity Bartender Challenge Shakes Up Support for the Child Protection Center, Raising Over $8,000 to Fund Life-Saving Programs for Abused and Vulnerable Children
The Celebrity Bartender Challenge stirred up excitement at an evening to remember by raising over $8,000 to support the life-saving programs of the Child Protection Center (CPC). Hosted at two locations on the same night–BrewBurgers Back Porch and Shuck N’ Ale–eight local celebrities stepped behind the bar to compete for the prestigious title of “Shaker Cup Champions.”
The winners of that title were Evan Duke and Bill Rhodes, who impressed with their inventive drinks, the “Classic Screwball” and “The Final Payment.” Their fundraising efforts earned them a spot on the Champion Trophy, engraved for posterity.
Venice City Lifestyle Publisher Charmaine Tincher and partner Phil Adams claimed the “Shaken and Stirred Award” for team spirit. Judged by last year’s winners, Brent and Bobby Pinkerton, the duo stood out with their creative drinks, “Venice Inspirator” and “Chocolate Thunder,” along with their engaging outfits, donor interactions, and overall spirited engagement.
The “Mix Master Award,” given to the crowd’s favorite drink, went to Victoria Stults for her divine concoction, “The Victoria’s Secret.”
Just like cocktails are served before the main course—the Challenge was the perfect prelude to CPC’s “Night of Hope & Healing” held a couple of weeks later. That event featured restaurant tastings, auctions, live music, and dancing.
Every tip and donation from the Bartender Challenge went directly to CPC to support its vital work in preventing, intervening, and treating child abuse. Since 1992, CPC has reached more than 800,000 individuals
in Sarasota and DeSoto Counties with prevention education and provides crucial services like medical exams, forensic interviews, and therapy. CPC's services reached over 65,000 individuals last year alone.
The more than $8,000 raised from the Challenge will go to fund vital CPC programs and services. For example, that amount will cover:
• 32 children receiving a therapy session in the aftermath of abuse
• 22 classrooms educated in personal safety
• 13 medical examinations
Your support helps CPC continue its mission to heal, protect, and empower vulnerable children in Sarasota and DeSoto Counties. Together, we can make a lasting impact! To learn more about CPC or to donate go to cpcsarasota.org.
Here’s to the champions—and to a brighter, safer future for every child.
