In West Austin, the idea of home holds a special place in our hearts. Tucked between the scenic Hill Country and the ever-growing city, our community offers the best of both worlds. The rolling hills and lush greenery enhance not only the beauty of our surroundings but also the quality of our daily lives.
What truly makes West Austin shine is its people—neighbors who value connection, creativity, and community. Local businesses thrive here, offering unique goods and services that reflect the broad interests of our residents. In this issue, we explore the local events that bring us together, the design inspirations shaping our living spaces, and, most importantly, the stories of the people who make this community so special.
As you read, we hope you feel a renewed appreciation for the community around you— your city, your neighborhood, and above all, your home. Each month, we hear from readers who treasure this magazine as a cherished part of their home, often adorning coffee tables and bookshelves long after the month has passed. We are honored to connect with our community and remain committed to delivering the value you expect.
Thank you for welcoming us into your home.

When it comes to creating comfortable, functional, and resilient spaces, West Austin residents trust Efficient AC, Electric & Plumbing to deliver reliable, tailored solutions. Efficient addresses homeowner challenges with AC maintenance, repairs and replacements, generator installations for backup power protection, and reliable plumbing services, always prioritizing safety, efficiency, and peace of mind.
Building on their commitment to quality since 1976, Efficient AC, Electric & Plumbing partners with leading brands to provide durable, cost-effective products while staying ahead of industry trends through regular best practice reviews. Owner George Drazic shares how his team’s personalized services, including Generac whole-home generator installations, are helping West Austin residents prepare for the upcoming challenges to the electrical grid.
HOW DOES EFFICIENT AC, ELECTRIC & PLUMBING BRING PEACE OF MIND TO YOUR CUSTOMERS?
We focus on our employees, ensuring our technicians, electricians and plumbers have the skills to handle every job. We do not just turn new employees out to our customers – they work alongside our seasoned leads first. We also provide the latest training on tools and trade practices.
WHAT MAKES YOUR SERVICE APPROACH LESS STRESSFUL FOR HOMEOWNERS?
We continually seek out the most reliable replacement parts and devices to ensure long life. We never just take the low price on anything. We also stock common replacement parts on vans, and we encourage employee input to ensure each customer gets the solution that best fits their needs.
WHY DO YOU RECOMMEND GENERAC GENERATORS, AND WHAT MAKES THEM IDEAL FOR POWER OUTAGES?
Generac is the leading home generator provider in the US. They provide excellent parts and technical support, and they rarely need much. We love the way the residential models work! Couple them with a meticulous installation, and they do the rest automatically.
WHAT SHOULD HOMEOWNERS KNOW ABOUT YOUR GENERATOR INSTALLATION PROCESS?
We are realistic with our customers on the installation process, particularly with lead times from Austin Energy, where we are in the Contractor Disconnect Program. We handle the whole process for our customers. After all, why hire experts only to become one? We also pride ourselves on quality installation that does not put your electronic devices at risk. Whole-home generator costs are similar to AC installation but can be a worthwhile addition to your property and peace of mind. Our team carefully determines the best generator for your property and budget, ensuring the installation integrates seamlessly with your home while meeting jurisdictional requirements.
ARE THERE ANY SPRING PROMOTIONS FOR WEST AUSTIN RESIDENTS?
We’re offering a free whole-home surge protector with every whole-home generator installation through 3/31/2025.
IS THERE ANYTHING ELSE YOU’D LIKE TO SHARE ABOUT EFFICIENT AC, ELECTRIC & PLUMBING OR YOUR SERVICES?
We are always looking to improve, always looking for good people, always looking to retain good people, and always supporting community causes. Our team is prepared to assist with AC maintenance, repairs and replacements, whole-home generator installations, other indoor and outdoor electrical solutions, and plumbing services so you can enjoy a welcoming home with a peace of mind.

Brooklynn Carney, Founder and Interior Designer of Wil and Faye Interiors
Spring inspires a sense of renewal, and Brooklynn Carney, Founder and Interior Designer of Wil and Faye Interiors, uses this opportunity to design spaces that seamlessly blend beauty, functionality, and sustainability. Guided by her thoughtful approach, Brooklynn creates interiors that authentically reflect her clients’ personalities and lifestyles. Each project begins with a deep understanding of their needs, ensuring designs that are both meaningful and practical.
At the heart of her design philosophy is a meticulous approach to material selection, with a particular emphasis on versatile earth elements. “Though simple and very common, one of our favorite materials to work with is wood—it adds a warm and naturally organic texture that is always unique,” Brooklynn explains. She highlights its versatility, noting that subtle changes in finish, shape, or color can transform a space from cozy and inviting to bold and luxurious. This adaptability, paired with its timeless authenticity, aligns perfectly with her goal to create spaces that are warm, natural, sustainable, and functional.
While Wil and Faye Interiors values classic design principles, they also enthusiastically embrace bold trends. Brooklynn and her team are excited to explore vibrant colors and vintage-inspired patterns in the coming year. “2024 was a great introduction to colorful, playful interiors, and we’re expecting this trend to only grow in 2025,” Brooklynn shares. With endless possibilities for combining colors and patterns, the team looks forward to infusing these fresh ideas into future projects while maintaining balance with rich textures and durable materials.
Brooklynn’s ability to find opportunity in challenges truly sets her apart, as seen in a recent Airbnb project. Her team was tasked with transforming a small recess in the master bedroom headboard wall into a standout feature. They turned a design challenge into a cozy, eye-catching statement by incorporating a bold color palette, custom-built floating nightstands, and an eclectic mix of patterns. “This project allowed us to play with color and patterns more so than usual,” she recalls, highlighting the team’s creativity and attention to detail.
Her collaborative approach ensures every project is tailored to her clients’ unique lives and aesthetic preferences. Brooklynn describes her process as deeply personal, rooted in conversations about how her clients live, work, and play. “Balancing luxury and livability is all about combining aesthetics with functionality and comfort. Intentionally blending rich textures and durable materials ensures that our clients feel both indulged and at ease in their spaces. And personalization or custom pieces help each space reflect the client’s style and needs while still feeling luxurious,” she explains. The result is a carefully curated space that embodies the client’s story.
Wil and Faye Interiors invites West Austin City Lifestyle readers to transform their spaces with an exclusive opportunity this spring. Growing up in the rural landscapes of Jacksboro, Texas, David Manning, founder of David Manning Architecture, learned early on the importance of eco-friendly practices. “Water conservation was crucial,” David recalls. “I remember when they had to truck water into their stock tanks during drought conditions, and the ground would crack as it dried up.” These formative experiences instilled in him a deep respect for sustainable design, which now shapes his architectural approach.
David’s design philosophy balances practicality with environmental stewardship. “We know that buildings constitute the major draw on the electrical grid,” he explains. To reduce this demand, he integrates features like dormers and clerestories that allow natural light to flood a home’s interior, minimizing the need for artificial lighting. Awnings over larger glass areas help to reduce energy consumption. “The natural light is often reduced when a great room has a covered terrace adjacent to it, and dormers are the perfect answer,” he adds.
At the heart of David’s work is “wellness” design—creating spaces that foster a deeper connection to nature. “Much research has been done on the health benefits of the connection with nature,” he says. By using natural elements in his designs, David helps homeowners feel more grounded, as these homes are designed to enhance well-being through light and natural surroundings.
Incorporating outdoor living blurs the lines between indoor and outdoor spaces, creating a seamless flow between them. For David, courtyards and covered terraces are ideal features that connect the home to its natural environment. These elements go beyond being mere trends—they are an important part of how a home engages with the outside world.
David’s approach is not only about the creative vision but also ensuring the practicality of each project, especially when balancing client dreams with budget realities. As he explains, “I often ask this: ‘On a scale of one to ten, how bad do you want it?’” This question helps him uncover budget-friendly solutions that remain true to a client’s vision.
A recent waterfront home project presented unique considerations due to the local terrain. “One current challenge is a Lake Austin waterfront house that must be constructed twelve feet in the air to meet current floodplain guidelines,” David shares. His team tackled this by designing a garage at the existing grade and creating a pathway with a retaining wall and berm alongside it.
For homeowners considering an ecofriendly remodel or new construction, David encourages mindful design choices that prioritize both the environment and the homeowner’s lifestyle. “Sometimes laying out the furniture and pathways allows the owner to tighten up the overall square footage,” David suggests. He also advocates for designing around protected trees, turning them into sculptural features that add both beauty and value to the home. “It’s an asset,” he adds, showing how thoughtful design can turn natural elements into integral parts of a home’s overall appeal.

West Austin is home to some of the most desirable neighborhoods, and The Village of the Hills exemplifies this appeal. Incorporated in 1997, it has become renowned for its scenic charm and luxury living. Elle Spikes, Compass REALTOR®, shares, “The Hills is a place where you can truly unwind, surrounded by the natural beauty of the Texas Hill Country and countless opportunities to connect and enjoy life.” With approximately 1,200 residences and golf cart-friendly streets, the neighborhood is designed for connection, relaxation, and shared experiences.
Beyond its reputation for luxury, the community is grounded in strong bonds and shared pride among residents. Mayor Kevin Proud explains, “The Hills is truly a special place. Whether it’s the countless volunteers that keep our community functioning or just neighbors helping neighbors, there’s always a friendly face. We all take such great pride in the unique culture that we’ve built.”
The Hills Country Club, home to 72 holes of championship golf, shaded walking paths, and a resort-style aquatics center, is a focal point of the community. As part of living in The Hills, residents carry a social membership to the club, which unlocks access to the aquatics center, dining at multiple amazing restaurants just a golf cart ride away, and social events such as the Halloween Golf Cart Trunk or Treat. A neighborhood favorite is Friday evenings at Crossroads, an outdoor gathering space featuring live music and family-friendly entertainment. The Hills Clublife is all about Fun, Family, and CommUNITY. For those seeking even more, membership upgrades provide access to golf, fitness, tennis, pickleball, and additional amenities.

Homes in the community are thoughtfully crafted to complement their natural surroundings, blending contemporary layouts with traditional and Mediterranean influences. With large windows, open spaces, and inviting outdoor areas, they bring the beauty of the Hill Country into everyday living. “The custom-built homes exhibit a unified and elegant style,” Elle explains, highlighting standout features like private pools, relaxing spas, and expansive entertainment spaces that make each residence unique.
Community traditions and events further strengthen connections among neighbors. Standout gatherings such as Friday evenings at Crossroads, the Annual Hills City Limits Music Festival, National Night Out, and Winter Fest with Santa bring residents together to celebrate and connect. The Hills is also known for its beloved Thanksgiving Turkey Trot, hosted by the Lake
Travis Education Foundation, which draws participants from across the area. Family-friendly touches, such as the helicopter Easter egg drop and ice cream pop-ups in the park, add to the neighborhood’s charm.
While the community continues to grow, its values and traditions remain deeply rooted. Residents of all ages find something to love here—retirees enjoy peaceful walks and vibrant social events, while families value exceptional schools and kid-friendly activities. Whether it’s a round of golf, an afternoon at the aquatics center, or catching up with neighbors over live music, life here is vibrant and welcoming.
For current and prospective homeowners, this is more than a place to live—it’s a community defined by shared experiences and a deep sense of belonging. As Elle Spikes shares, “The sense of belonging is undeniable, making The Hills more than a neighborhood—it’s a place where everyone can feel at home.”
