Light House invites you to join the Saturday audiences at the New York Metropolitan Opera in 12 live high definition transmissions from the prestigious 2010-11 season, starting in October with new productions of Das Rheingold and Boris Godunov, and ending in May 2011 with a new production of the second opera in the Wagner Ring Cycle, Die Walküre. NIXON IN CHINA Sat 12 Feb, 6pm - New Production John Adams conducts the Met premiere of his most famous opera which deals with the meeting of Nixon and Mao, a mythological moment in world history and in particular American history. Acclaimed director and longtime Adams collaborator Peter Sellars makes his Met debut with this groundbreaking 1987 work, an exploration of the human truths beyond the headlines surrounding President Nixon’s 1972 encounter with Communist China.
