Rs2: SELFSUFFICIENT BUILDINGS STUDIO Liliana Viveros Díaz 1st. Assignment 27 April 2011
The main purpouse of this project is to join the existing buildings with the new structure above the block, this new layer is a link between the buildings that already exist and the new ones, giving a new meaning to the entire block.
This connection is given by several aspects such as: The structure is penetrating into the existing buildings so its injecting light to the most of the buildings, also this “holes” serve as rain water collectors that at the same time are connected to the inverted gardens in order to purify the water, once the water is purified it goes again into the network for its reuse. A lot of leisure and cultural activities are being performed into the “Interspaces” created between the two layers, so the roofs of the existing buildings are now being used for this type of activities.
