Roundup Better Together: BVI, USVI Unite to ‘Bridge the Gap’ With shared families, history and proximity, the BVI and the USVI have a special bond, one that will be on full musical display this Saturday, June 3rd during the third annual Bridging the Gap concert at Captain Mulligan’s in Nanny Cay. While not strictly acoustic, organizers are encouraging artists to go more live and natural in their sound, as opposed to relying on pre-programmed “riddims.” The show will be a chance for BVI music fans to see artists that rarely make it to our side of the channel. St Croix’s Reemah – whose recent tracks “War” and “May Day” have been making the rounds on social media as the conscious roots songstress promotes her new “This is Reemah” mixtape – will be performing in the BVI for the first time. Fellow Crucian Tia will also take the stage Saturday. If her name sounds familiar but you haven’t heard her tracks “No Love Sweeter,” or “Be Without You,” it might be because you’ve heard her on the Isle 95, where she appears alongside Glen Dratte every morning.
Lime ... “to hang around idly” or “to go out on the town.” Source: The Dictionary of Virgin Islands English Creole by the late educator and historian Lito Valls. The Limin’ Times brings you all the news about when and where to “lime” in the British Virgin Islands.
Revalation Da Royal out of St. Thomas is sure to perform “Like Yesterday,” the romantic roots tune that hit the top of Jamaica’s musical charts earlier this year. But let’s not neglect the BVI talent that will also take the stage! Returning to the series after previous successful performances will be Drastic, whose track “My Philosophy” is the perfect fit for this year’s acoustic set. Miri, who BVI music aficionados will know as the front woman for the Final Faze band, is also set to take the stage. You can also catch Shine-I, one of the BVI artists who has helped organize the Bridging the Gap series since it kicked off back in 2015. He’s been working on new material that he plans to perform the night of the show alongside backing group Inna Shine, which includes some special young musicians: his kids. Don’t miss some of the best artists from around the greater Virgin Islands. You can get your advance tickets for $25 at Mellow Moods in Road Town, or pay $30 at the door. Action starts at 9pm.

Not Interested can only live if both persons participate and you can choose not to argue. While what he is doing sounds like it is really frustrating and I understand that, someone else doing it in the past does not necessarily mean it has to have the same outcome. Continue to be observant, but ask direct questions too. Many relationships have a slump every now and again and that is normal, but you are right to pay attention to the changes and to try your best to do something about them. If he really is on his way out, then you can try to repair the rift but only if the effort is on both sides. If he is really not interested, let him go. I am getting a very bad feeling about this and have been hurt before in the past when the guy acted similar to this. –Confused Dear confused, The answer would depend on who the guy is, as different persons would demonstrate lack of interest in different ways. The signs you describe could be waning interest, stress from work, health issues or something else entirely. Maybe you can ask your guy a few specific questions, like how are things at work and if everything is okay with his family. Or, you can be more general and just ask if everything is okay. Tell him you miss him and the closeness you used to share and see if that brings some effort on his part to reconnect. It might also be useful to give him some time in his zone - maybe a week or two and see if he comes back to his regular self. An argument 9

An ‘incredible feeling’ full of challenges, but also of support. “It’s taken a lot of hard work to get here. A lot of guts and determination, a lot of help from people, people in the medical profession obviously, both here and in Panama where I had emergency surgery last year. I’ve had help from physical therapists, yoga instructors, Pilates, gyrokinesis—all these little things that helped to get me and my body back to where I was,” he said. Even more important for Hubbard was to keep the right mentality. “Ultimately, I think a lot of this is in the mind. If you believe it, you can do it. Obviously physical things stop you doing things, but, if your body is capable of doing it and your mind can push you, I think anyone can do it,” he said. Before his accident, Hubbard enjoyed running competitions. “I’ve completed six Marathons including New York City twice, Belfast, Chicago, Detroit and Key West and have completed 20 Half Marathons,” he said. Hubbard also competed locally, and won his age group in the 2015 Ceres Juices 10K Series. “I miss it and want to get back,” he said. Though Hubbard isn’t sure he’ll ever be up to running at his previous level, he hopes that with time he’ll be able to get back into more competitive shape. “I miss crossing the finishing line. I miss racing against people, seeing somebody ahead of me, thinking can I beat them; hearing and feeling somebody behind me, pushing and pushing me, I miss it massively.”
Paul Hubbard, left As recently as six months ago, VISAR lead medic Paul Hubbard was wheelchair bound. On Saturday’s Virgin Gorda 6 Mile Challenge, he crossed the finish line in 2 hours, 2 minutes and 18 seconds. “To do a race like this, we walked it and we had fun, we enjoyed it, we enjoyed the views, we enjoyed the people of Virgin Gorda, the water stops, the camaraderie, it’s special,” Hubbard said after the race, “Thinking that six months ago I was in a wheelchair and for me to be able to walk six miles, is huge.” Hubbard explained that just after last year’s VG Half Marathon, he fell about 20 feet and sustained extensive injuries. “I broke both my heel bones, I broke my pelvis, broke five vertebrae in my back and completely shattered my wrist,” he said, adding that to finish walking the six mile challenge on the anniversary of his fall made it especially meaningful. “To do it with my friends, with Team VISAR, people that helped me and my wife after the accident, is just an incredible feeling,” he said. Hubbard said the year’s recovery has been Limin’Times Entertainment Gude
