Things are getting more colorful and muted is no longer on the table anymore this summer. Thus, if you have been looking for a chance to go bold with luscious lip colors and pigmented highlighters, summer 2021 is the time to do so. Glowy highlighters Glowy highlighters will be everywhere this summer according to makeup experts. Expect brighter shades of highlighters to deliver that sheen and glow, whether in cream, powder or liquid form. Besides, sculpting is not going anywhere and using a glowy highlighter not only makes your entire look sun-kissed, but it will also give the impression that you have sculpted your cheeks. Brushed up brows Brow trends are still in the big and bold phase and this summer, you will be seeing a lot of fluffy eyebrows. The brushed up eyebrows will be the goto look as trends move away from the super structured brows towards gel-finished eyebrows that do not require many layers and a lot of work. This is great especially for those excited about minimal makeup because achieving this look is as easy as keeping the eyebrows groomed, polished as well as combed through using your brow gel.

Fenty Beauty Eaze Drop Blurring Skin Tint | $29.50

KVD Beauty Super Pomade Vegan Eyeliner, Shadow & Brow Pigment | $20

Colorful eyeliner Intense and colorful eyeliners will be on trend this summer. You will be seeing a lot of smokey eyes in vibrant colorful shades. This fits with the theme of summer as a vibrant season and you can try out bright colorful shades such as fun electric blues, royal blues, greens, yellows etc. Use color to update your cat eye for a more electric vibe this summer. No-makeup” makeup look Clean and glowing skin is a top beauty trend for the summer hence to achieve this, expect the no-makeup makeup look to make a comeback. This means a super clear base with minimal foundation, lightly applied makeup with products that bring out your natural color. The minimal makeup look is back and we are here for it! Monochromatic makeup Summer may be all about color but you better believe that the black and white makeup look will be making some rounds too. A monochromatic makeup look is fresh and sleek and a great way to take a break when you are not feeling like being too colorful. It is bold without being muted and colorful – which is no easy feat. Graphic liner Eyeliner is a top contender for summer 2021 makeup looks. Aside from colorful eyeliners mentioned earlier, this summer’s makeup looks will also feature graphic and playful eyeliner in interesting shapes and colors. Try out different looks such as underlined brows and floating liners.

Persona Cosmetics Color Theory Eye KitCopper | $28

Rosey cheeks One thing a glowing blush will do is deliver an exciting pop of color to your cheeks. This will brighten up your entire makeup look which is a great choice for summers. To pull off the rosey cheeks look perfectly, pop your blush on your cheeks, then blend it out and down while forming a ‘C’ shape as you go down to the cheekbones. Flushed cheeks will help you bring out the glow and brightness of summer. This is a trend you definitely should not sleep on!

lasting glow that you’ll love.

Who is a celebrity you would love to work with?

I would love to be able to tan Ariana Grande! Is there a right or wrong way to self-tan?

Definitely treat your self tan as if it were a spray tan. The key is to exfoliate before applying and stay hydrated and moisturized to maintain the nice glow my products give you. We know how bad the sun can be for our skin. Do self-tanners have a negative effect in any way on the skin as well?

No, our self tanners are very safe especially since they are paraben, sulfate & cruelty free along with being vegan. Having a clean product is best when applying anything on the skin. What advice would you give to anyone trying to become a professional tan artist?

I would tell them that you need to work hard and go after people you wish to spray tan, manifest everything you want, and be creative about reaching a bigger audience. Taking my class would also benefit them in not only the technique aspect, but the business aspect as well. What else can we expect in the future from Isabel Alysa or the Dolce Glow line?

There’s a lot of new things coming. I can’t reveal too much but this is only the beginning for Dolce Glow by Isabel Alysa.

10 TIPS FOR

SWEAT PROOF

MAKEUP

If you are the kind of person who loves makeup (I know I am), then I bet you are looking at the arrival of summer with some concerns about how to keep your summer looks fresh and dewy. The scorching sun can leave your face sweaty, and let's face it, the last thing you want when you’re going about your day is sweat dripping down your face. This is especially the case if you sweat on your nose, forehead and upper lip a lot. 23 | Lina Zuniga Makeup

Not only does it undo all your hard work of putting on the makeup, but it can also result in smudging and staining of your outfit. Don’t be alarmed though, you can easily sweat-proof your summer makeup looks with these simple tips: Have On Minimal Skincare Products If you want to rock a fresh summer makeup look all day long, then a good starting point is to begin with very minimal skin care.

Use fewer products, a good toner and a water-based moisturizer and ensure you don’t layer anything else. Wait until they are completely absorbed then work in your SPF before you start on your base. Invest in a Good Primer Primer is a must for the summer. Choose a silicone-based smoothing or mortifying primer to make your foundation stay in place even when you sweat. A good primer gives you a great surface for the rest of your makeup to cling to while also forming a shield over your skin. Use a Sweat-proof Base In the summer heat and humidity, you need a water-based foundation or a BB cream/ tinted moisterizer. This is less susceptible to melting off when you inevitably get hot and sweaty. Invest in lightweight foundations, bb creams and concealers.

Fenty Beauty Invisimatte Blotting Paper | $16

Less is More: Avoid Heavy Foundations After picking up a good sweat-proof base, another thing to keep in mind is that you need to only use a little bit of it. Apply a very thin layer of your base and cover up any marks or spots with a concealer. Less makeup will make you feel less sticky, especially when there is high humidity. It also prevents your makeup from caking and creasing. Waterproof Eye Makeup Waterproof eye makeup is a reassurance for brides who worry about crying and ruining their mascara and eyeliner on their special day. Similarly, in the summer, choosing waterproof eye makeup will help it stay smudge-free. Therefore, you absolutely cannot skimp on waterproof mascaras and eyeliners if you want your flawless summer makeup looks. Blotting Papers for the Win! It gets tempting to reach for your powder when you start feeling hot and sweaty, but did you know that blotting papers are a great first defense to stop your oil and perspiration? They are portable, and dabbing them on the sweaty areas will help keep your makeup in place. But, Don’t Forget the Powder Power Too Though botting papers are a quick fix for sweaty makeup, the power of powder cannot be ignored. If you need a little help to keep your makeup fresh, then dusting a bit of sheer loose powder both to set your look and later when you need to give it a boost, is an effective trick.

Urban Decay All Nighter Long-Lasting Makeup Setting Spray | $33

Fresh Sugar Lip Balm Sunscreen SPF 15 | $24

Tower 28 Beauty BeachPlease Lip + Cheek Cream Blush | $20

Black Girl Sunscreen Moisturizing Sunscreen Lotion SPF 30 | $15.99

Makeup Forever Reboot Active Care Revitalizing Foundation | $39

Choose Cream-Based Matte Products When engaging in sweaty activities or just being out in the heat, choose cream-based powders, blush and eyeshadows to absorb better into the skin and avoid caking. Choose wax-based eye products for your eyebrows. Invest in Good Lip Care You don’t want to ruin your look by failing your lips. Apply a conditioning lip balm with SPF and if using lipstick, use a long-lasting liquid color. Set it with Setting Spray Once you are done doing your makeup, it’s time to set it in place by spritzing on a good setting spray. Spray in short bouts to allow even application. There you have it! A flawless makeup look in the heat is not that hard to achieve – or maintain. Use these tips and enjoy the sun and the outdoors.
