A Letter from Philip As 2019 is underway, we are continuing to transition from our Initial Development Phase (IDP), where much of the new build and major renovation took place, to a period where the focus is almost solely on the execution of our Property Management functions. While we will continue to update the portfolio as needed to remain competitive with the local market, our collective energy needs to be focused on how we can improve on the delivery of exemplary customer service that our residents have come to expect. While our case is not completely “new,” this year we want to raise the bar on how we can exceed expectations, that will take thinking and acting “anew.” We need to hold on to the principles and practices that have worked, while at the same time being open to embracing new approaches that might enhance the areas where our residents, and team members have identified we have an opportunity to get better!

“ Still the question recurs ‘can we do better?’ The dogmas of the quiet past are inadequate to the stormy present. As our case is new, so we must think anew and act anew.” — Abraham Lincoln December 1, 1862

If you know of someone who might need some assistance, all our resources and forms are available on the KC. Anyone can also reach out directly to us via this email or phone number listed below. We take many steps to ensure that the process protects a recipient’s privacy if that is a concern. We also have a licensed social worker (her name is Lisa!) that knows all the good questions to ask, if your household needs a little boost recovering from something tragic and/or unforeseen. It never hurts to ask and see if you are considering reaching out for another Lincoln associate or yourself. Don’t wait! We love to help!

Lincoln Military Housing Community Recognized by California Landscape Contractors Association New Way Landscape and Tree Service Honored with Beautification Award for The Village At Serra Mesa New Way Landscape and Tree Service, the landscape architect responsible for designing Lincoln Military Housing’s community, The Village At Serra Mesa, was recently honored with the California Landscape Contractors Association’s (CLCA) Beautification Award. The CLCA San Diego chapter awards encompassed categories covering residential and commercial landscape construction, maintenance and renovation, along with water features, outdoor lighting, and WaterSmart design, irrigation and maintenance. “Our mission is to provide the best service and good quality housing to all our service members and their families, and we are proud to partner with New Way on this effort,” said Gail Miller, Regional Vice President, Southwest Navy Region. With growing concerns over the continued availability of water in the San Diego region, licensed landscape contractors are working to conserve this precious resource while still maintaining San Diego’s unique beauty through the careful design, installation, and management of the county’s landscapes. The efforts of these stewards of our environment were recognized at the California Landscape Contractors Association’s Annual Beautification Awards Program hosted by the San Diego Chapter. The program recognized excellence in landscape construction and maintenance through competition among California licensed landscape professionals.

Lincoln Military Housing Partners with Pinery Christmas Trees For The 10th Annual Christmas Tree Giveaway On Thursday, December 6th Lincoln Military Housing hosted the annual “Christmas Tree Giveaway to show appreciation for our military families this holiday season. This is the 10th year Lincoln Military Housing has hosted this event. This year, Lincoln partnered with Pinery Christmas Trees who gratuitously discounted the purchase of the trees for Lincoln and delivered them for free to the site. Lincoln Military Housing employees volunteered to assist the families with choosing their tree and securing the tree on their vehicle. As families waited in their vehicles to enter the event area, Lincoln treated them to entertainment, snacks, and water. Inside the venue, there was music and an opportunity for families to pick out an ornament to take home. This event went forward in the rain so families could get their tree they were so excited about!

Community Service Mission Moments On Thursday, November 22nd, Lincoln Military Housing treated families to a Thanksgiving Day feast and fun at Dave & Busters. Lincoln showed appreciation to our military families who currently have their service member deployed. Giving thanks to the attendees becomes so important on a day like Thanksgiving. Families enjoyed a Thanksgiving feast and Dave & Buster’s power cards for all the games. All attendees were hosted in a private room where the buffet was held and the action-packed football games were watched.

Families also had an opportunity to build a care package for their deployed service member to send in time for the holidays. Families were given a box, shipping documents, and were able to pick out different items to add to their package. Along with the goodies, each family was given a military stocking that matches their service to send inside the package. Dave & Busters is a partner in this program and has been supporting this event since 2007. 5

LMH Mission Moment Crystal Layton and her family recently moved to China Lake in August. After her move, she sent our team this beautiful message: “Moving from Washington state was a huge transition for my family, but I wanted to let you know one of your employees has made this transition so much easier. Melissa Brinkman is such a phenomenal person who truly strives on ensuring the community here is fully satisfied and enjoying their stay in the area. She pours her heart and soul into each and every event and never disappoints with her events. I am truly grateful to her and everything she does for our community! Without her support and activities, life would not be the same in China Lake! I cannot give her enough credit or praise for her work and passion! Thank you for your time Kaleen, I wanted you to know just how amazing she is to our community!” — CRYSTAL LAYTON
