We’re about to enter into a period of change. Whichever side of the debate you came down on back in 2016, we’re all united in wanting the best possible future for our community, the tricky part is agreeing what that future looks like and how we get there. It is the responsibility of arts organisations to question our sense of self, interrogate what it means to be part of a community and to unpick national narratives and it is only through this reflection that new shared stories can take shape.
2
To this end our Spring Season is built around the theme of possibilities, of where we are, where we’ve come from and where we’re going. We’re delighted to present a first visit by internationally renowned Forced Entertainment, in an exploration of how we might re-shape our world if we could travel through time. We’ve the return of Chris Thorpe with Status his new show about nationhood and nationality, whilst our studio is home to a thrilling new adaptation of England’s oldest story, Beowulf. And if that’s all too serious then the team from Horrible Histories take a look at Barmy Britain.
The LPAC Team Director’s Choice We have many great events on offer this season but if you like something a bit different, look out for this icon. I highly recommend it!

Frozen Light in association with the New Wolsey Theatre, Ipswich
THE ISLE OF BRIMSKER Thursday 31 January & Friday 1 February 11am & 1.30pm Where the waves meet the rock A lighthouse keeper lives on a desolate outcrop surrounded by stormy seas. Duty bound to maintain the light that guides boats away from danger, she lives a solitary existence. Until one day a runaway lands on the shore and together they face the inevitable. Change is on the horizon but not in the form she expects. 13+
How do you survive when faced with the biggest decisions of your life? Would you change the world or change yourself? 6 A new multi-sensory story from Frozen Light, specialists in making theatre for audiences with profound and multiple learning disabilities.
Commissioned by Harlow Playhouse, The Phoenix Theatre and Arts Centre, Bordon; Vivacity Key Theatre, Peterborough. With support from Arts Council England; house; The Garage Norwich; and The Point Eastleigh.
Tim Etchells & Forced Entertainment, in collaboration with Tyrone Huggins
TO MOVE IN TIME Wednesday 6 February 7.30pm An unnamed protagonist speculates playfully and poignantly about what he’d do if he were able to travel backwards and forwards in time. From fantasies of changing the present via interventions in history to obsessions with everyday events in the past, the text is an unfolding thought process in which fantasies of impossible or extraordinary action are developed and then abandoned.
“Etchells’ script is a masterpiece of precise observation and perfectly crafted musicality, moving subtly through love, amusement, anger, frustration and joy.”
An obsessive stream of consciousness, tangled and contradictory, the work combines Etchells’ text with Huggins powerful performance to walk a line between comic absurdity and melancholia.

SHERLOCK HOLMES: THE SIGN OF FOUR By Sir Arthur Conan Doyle Adapted for the Stage by Nick Lane Thurs 7 – Sat 9 March 7.30pm (2pm Friday Matinee) “When you have eliminated the impossible, whatever remains, however improbable, must be the truth” Crammed full of adventure, romance, comedy and of course one or two rather brilliant deductions, The Sign of Four is Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s epic second Sherlock Holmes tale, a breath-taking yarn brought to life in this spectacular new stage adaptation.
When Mary Morstan arrives at 221B, Baker Street to request help with the mystery of her missing father, Holmes takes the case and together with his companion Dr Watson enters a murky world of deception and trickery, unravelling a complex plot involving murder, corruption and stolen jewels. SHUT DOWN Thursday 4 April 7.30pm Directed by ‘one of the most important feminist artists working in Britain today’ (The Observer) Shut Down explores the spectrum of modern day masculinity and investigates the pressures, contradictions and confusions of being a man. Vincent Dance Theatre’s first ever all male production is timely, humorous and highly charged ‘political and poetic dance theatre’ (London Dance), from one of the UK’s most risk-
taking and rigorous choreographers. Dance, spoken word, rap and real-life testimony collide to ask: what is it like to live as a man today? “A witty and humane examination of conflicting forces.
