DIRECTOR’S WELCOME Hello There! Welcome to our new look brochure, packed full of great theatre and arts events open to everyone this autumn and winter. It’s our 5th Birthday this year and to celebrate University of Lincoln has invested in the future of our venue, supporting many of the changes that audiences have been asking for since I joined the team two years ago. Alongside our new brochure, we’ve a far more user-friendly website with lots of additional content, making it quicker to buy tickets and to find out more about the shows you love. We’ve also taken over the management of Zing Café Bar and will be looking to expand our offer over the next year and, most significantly of all, we have our own in-house Box Office!

From 12 August 2013 you will be able to buy tickets online, on the phone and in-person at the venue 10am-6pm, Monday-Saturday all year round, and because it’s run by us there will be no supplementary ticket or transaction charges! I’m sure you’ll agree this is a brilliant news as it now makes it even easier to see great classics like Twelfth Night by Filter and the RSC, innovative performance by Chris Goode and Stan’s Cafe, cuttingedge dance by Jean Abreu or enchanting shows such as The Lion, The Witch And The Wardrobe – our Christmas treat for all the family.

Lincolnshire has a really creative community and we’re making sure 12 to 25 year olds feel part of it. As part of Lincolnshire One Venues (LOV), a network of ten arts venues, we are working with young people to create a range of exciting activities and events for and by young people across the county. Obsolescence will empower a new mythology for the old forgotten event, completing the circle from death of performance to its guarantee. One day, whilst exploring Lucy stumbles across a curious wardrobe, a gateway to a mysterious world and the adventure begins. For the land of Narnia lies under the power of the White Witch who has cast a terrible spell where it is forever winter, but never Christmas – and very quickly the children find themselves caught up in a deadly struggle between good and evil… Originally commissioned and staged by the RSC, this musical version performed by the graduating performing arts students at University of Lincoln takes place in-the-round, positioning the audience at the heart of the action and features a large cast, puppetry and digital projection. It’s sure to be a wonderful festive treat for all the family.

Following two weeks of intensive workshops and rehearsals we’ll present a range of performance showcases at different stages of development, with the smallest embryo of a new idea sharing the nest with pieces that are almost fully fledged, and then invite you to give your feedback in an informal atmosphere.
