We organise a number of experience afternoons, during which Year 5 and 6 children get to see our school in action and get a taste of an afternoon in Senior School.

The afternoons are by no means an academic assessment or test for the children, it is simply a chance for them to sample a bite sized chunk of a normal day at Tettenhall College and for them to get involved. They are also perfect for children to meet others their age considering Tettenhall College as well as becoming acquainted with our staff and our unique school site.

Local Schools take on Hadrian’s Wall Challenge Whilst the majority of the great British public were doing sensible things over the Bank Holiday weekend like mowing their lawns, washing their cars and enjoying barbeques, a group of seventeen teachers and parents from Winterfold and Bromsgrove Schools set themselves the challenge of completing the full eighty-four mile length of the Hadrian’s Wall Path, from Newcastle to Bowness-onSolway in just three days to raise money for charity.
Winterfold has supported the school for the last 10 years, raising money to build a number of classrooms. When Principal Mthembu from Ncemaneni visited Winterfold in October as part of a new exchange programme, he talked about the large numbers of his pupils aged between six and fourteen who walk a 15–20 km round journey to school each day on foot. Most shocking is that most of these children do not own shoes, leaving them susceptible to dangerous cuts and infections.
“It sounded like a good idea at the time,” said Simon Dieppe, KS2 Teacher at Winterfold School and one of the organisers of the challenge, “but as the weekend got closer and the start of the challenge loomed, the idea of running or walking twenty-eight miles a day seemed a bit crazy!”
The ‘Hitting-The-Wall Challenge’ was launched with the aim of raising £4,000 to buy shoes for these children. The problem was always going to be how long these shoes would last. “Then someone mentioned ‘the shoe that grows’!” explained Simon Dieppe. “These are a fantastic invention which are made and distributed by a charity in the U.S. They are incredibly hardy but most importantly, can be adjusted as the child grows, so they can last up to five years.” Each pair will cost around £20

The ‘Hitting-The-Wall’ team trained vigorously over the last six months and met regularly to share help and advice. “Some of us were more experienced runners and walkers than others,” said David Loughton, Year 6 Teacher at Winterfold, “but the camaraderie was great. We were all focussed on completing the challenge – after all, the children at Ncemaneni cover this kind of distance every week just to get to school!”
Simon Dieppe, said “an immense effort by the whole team – more than a marathon every day, for three days, for such a great cause. Everybody pushed themselves to the limit, so that we can provide shoes for Ncemaneni”. David Loughton said “WE MADE IT!!!! This was an awesome effort from everyone – we needed to dig very deep at certain points! It’s certainly not as straightforward as you may think! Well done to Simon Dieppe who has driven this mad idea from its inception in the pub, to the North West coast of England. Eighty-four miles of blisters, sore legs & sunburn, but we’ve smashed our target of £4K for our friends in Ncemaneni and it’s still rising!

Soaring above the azure Arabian sky bound for Doha, the capital of Qatar, we relaxed in style on board our Qatar Airways flight and gazed in wonder at the sight of the city, spread out below and crammed with ultra chic sky scrapers with each one demanding our undivided attention.
Independence was declared in 1971 and following the accession of Qatar’s Emir, Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani in 1995, Qatar continues to thrive. This small peninsular covers only 11,500 sq kilometres, has a population of 2.55 million, and now holds the world’s third largest natural gas and oil reserves, often ranking as the world’s wealthiest nation in terms of GDP per capita. Rapid development abounds ahead of the emir’s successful application to host the 2022 FIFA World Cup and Qatar is preparing to take centre position on the world’s sporting stage.
Qatar, located on the Arabian Gulf shoreline, features pristine beaches, mighty dunes and arid desert and Doha offers visitors an intriguing insight into a fascinating culture with the warmth of Qatari hospitality at its heart, and a tantalising glimpse of a rich and colourful history. Leading up to the demise of the Ottoman Empire in 1918, Qatar became a British protectorate in 1916 and Sheikh Abdullah bin Jassim Al Thani was duly recognised as the ruler. In 1939 oil reserves were discovered approximately 60 kilometres outside Doha but due to the outbreak of WWII, exploration was postponed. In the 1950’s oil revenue
On our first day in Doha we took a leisurely stroll along the 7 kilometre Corniche and paused awhile to admire the glorious views across the glittering waters of Doha Bay and the colourful traditional wooden dhows bobbing on the surface with their sails billowing gently in the breeze. We then 38
Our Travel made our way to the spectacular Museum of Islamic Art, a striking building designed by the Chinese-American IM Pei, admired for his talents on a variety of projects featuring modernist architecture and focusing on open space and natural components. The museum, which opened in 2008, is located next to Doha’s port on an artificial peninsular, surrounded by a beautiful crescent shaped park. We gazed upon the most beautiful treasures, which form the world’s largest collection of Islamic art. Exhibits include enamel, wood and metal works, glass, ceramics, textiles and jewellery, originating from countries including Egypt, Iraq, Iran, Turkey and Spain.
coastal towns throughout the region and this led to the development of small independent states that remained beyond foreign control which later resulted in the emergence of the Gulf States. The most popular attraction for visitors, and the perfect spot to soak up the Qatari experience, is the Souq Waqif, located adjacent to Doha’s Corniche. The original traditional market, which stood on the same spot, dates back to the 1940’s, and has been extensively renovated, but parts of the original walls and some elaborately decorated doors remain intact. The narrow meandering alleyways, where seafaring traders once plied their wares, are crammed with small shops displaying all manner of trinkets, textiles and gold jewellery, high mounds of nuts and succulent dates and the intoxicating aromas of rich spices, wooden scented fragrant oils, incense, and Arabic coffee flavoured with cardamom, hang in the air. We practiced our bartering skills with much success and then made our way to the falcon market, where the highest degree of bartering takes place and generous amounts of Qatari Riyals change hands. The ancient sport of falconry is practiced throughout Qatar and the prey of choice is the houbara bustard, which migrates south for the winter months.
To learn more of Qatari history visit the abandoned settlement of Al Zubarah, a UNESCO World Heritage site located approximately 100 kilometres from Doha. This walled coastal town prospered greatly as a pearling and trading centre during the late 18th and early 19th centuries and links were forged with traders from Western Asia, the Indian Ocean and Arabia. Destroyed in 1811 and deserted in the early 1900’s the site, which features palaces, courtyard houses, mosques, fishermen’s huts, a harbour with double defensive walls, a canal and cemeteries, has been naturally preserved by the shifting desert sands. Al Zubarah’s success as a trading centre supported the major

And as we admired the views of the tall palm trees we could hear their fronds rustling in the breeze and we raised our glasses in honour of the delights of Doha.

The Queens is a family affair as Tim and his partner Janet, who heads the ten-strong front of house team as maÎtre d', took over the business in June 2016. Their A-Level student son Michael helps at weekends. The restaurant caters for 50 covers across three rooms and there is a separate bar with an open fire. Upstairs is a private dining room seating up to 20 guests which is ideal for weddings, birthdays and anniversaries. The couple have made other changes too – introducing a choice of three menus including a fixed price, a la carte and pub menu offering everything from beef burgers and fish and chips to fillet of Dexter beef and pan-roasted hake. Tim and Janet bring with them more than 40 years’ combined experience in the hospitality industry. Tim trained at the 2AA rosette Lake Isle in Uppingham then moved to the Bridge Inn at Walshford. After meeting Janet, the pair worked in restaurants and hotels before setting up their own franchised catering business at several prestigious golf clubs, most recently at Edgbaston. Recipes By Mike Whitehurst PORK BELLY, FENNEL AND CHORIZO BROCHETTES THIS RECIPE SERVES 4 - 8
PORK The day before you intend to eat them rub the pork belly with smoked paprika and ground fennel all over with a little oil to help it stick. Slice the skin and sprinkle with sea salt. Cook in the oven for 3 hours on 160oC, once cooled chill over night so it sets which will make it easier to slice. The following day cut the pork into cubes and the chorizo into slices. Trim the fennel and cut into small chunks, the same size as your pork. Pre roast the fennel with garlic and rapeseed oil for 5 minutes then add to your skewers with the chorizo and pork belly. You can either roast these in the oven on 180oC for about 25 minutes or put them on the BBQ.
INGREDIENTS 800g pork belly 4 raw chorizo sausages 1 fennel bulb 1 tbsp of smoked paprika 1 tsp of crushed fennel seeds 1 small red cabbage 1 red onion 1 large beetroot 1 apple 1 bunch of Italian parsley A pinch of pumpkin seeds 1 bottle of French dressin

BALSAMIC SYRUP MACERATED STRAWBERRIES AND BASIL WITH VANILLA MASCARPO THIS RECIPE SERVES 4
Hull and halve or quarter the strawberries depending on size and preference then place in a glass bowl. Wash and dry off as much as possible and sprinkle with 100g of the coconut sugar, tear the basil leaves and toss into the strawberries with a good glug of balsamic syrup. Leave for a couple of hours tossing occasionally to make sure the strawberries are evenly coated.
INGREDIENTS 500g strawberries - hulled and quartered Bottle of balsamic syrup - or make your own* A handful of small purple basil leaves 200g of organic coconut sugar 4 Peters yard ring crisp bread or bake off puff pastry* 200g mascarpone Vanilla extract Icing sugar
Chopping board Small sharp knife 2 glass/plastic mixing bowls Scales Icing sugar shaker or sieve
Place the mascarpone into a mixing bowl and pour over the other 100g of coconut sugar and add in a few drops of vanilla and gently stir together with a spoon until combined. To serve simply pipe a few dots of mascarpone onto the plates the size of the crisp bread. Dust the crisp bread with icing sugar and start placing strawberries around then pipe sweet cheese into the gaps, finish with sprigs of basil, drizzle macerating juices over strawberries ,dust with icing sugar and serve.

Serve with an ice cold glass of Prosseco or Champagne.

Alfresco performance of Sense and Sensibility is coming to Birmingham Birmingham St Mary’s is hosting ‘Live at the Pavilion: Sense and Sensibility’, in which they’re inviting local people to enjoy a magical evening of theatre and picnic under the sky.

As one of the most anticipated restaurants to be opened this year, it certainly did not disappoint. The décor is Art Deco, oozes luxury yet still feels relaxed .They have continued with their signature menu of classic British dishes, like pawn cocktail and Shepherd`s Pie, always a favourite, especially with Royston. Birmingham`s elite were out in force and the evening was a great opportunity for Nick & Royston to mingle with old friends.
The Loreal colour Trophy The Loreal Colour Trophy is one of the biggest accolades in the hairdressing industry, with the hairdressing crème de la crème and young new talent all competing for this highly esteemed award. As previous winners for the last three years, both salons in Wolverhampton & Shrewsbury were successfully through to the Regional Finals again this year. The North West Region were held at Camp & Furnace in Liverpool and with both salons in the same region, Nick & Royston and the team were there to support and cheer them on. The evening was a triumph, with both Boo & Lauren from Wolverhampton and Welsh Nick from Shrewsbury winning their places at The Grand Final on June 4th in London. The theme was Flamboyant & fabulous and everyone including the other cast members and celebrity friends, through themselves into the spirit, from psychedelic 70`s to Rio Carnival Girls. Always fans of dressing up, Nick & Royston stole the show as they arrived in a white Convertible Cadillac, surrounded by scantily dressed men and dressed as Vegas Show girls!!! It was an amazing party, but, never without its dramas, this is one episode you will not want to miss.
Baby Bridgwood's Christening. Close friends Joanne and Malcolm Bridgwood have recently become grandparents with the birth of their first grandchild. Family and friends were invited by Karri and Jack to celebrate this happy occasion at the christening of Maggie Rose Bridgwood at St Bartholomew `s Church. The weather was glorious, and the day was magical from beginning to end, with the party continuing at Perton Golf Club. It was a very happy family day. We will forward to the next one.

Insured Patient Hits the Bullseye with Cataract Surgery A delighted West Midlands Hospital patient has used her private health insurance to hit the bullseye for the eye surgery she needed.
Gwen Herbert used her private health insurance for cataract surgery in both eyes.

Gwen Herbert visited the private hospital for cataract surgery in both eyes and used her insurance to help fund the treatment.
West Midlands Hospital, based in Halesowen, offers a wide variety of treatments including Cosmetic Surgery, Orthopaedic Surgery, Eye Surgery and Spinal Surgery.
The 87-year-old was made aware of the need for surgery following a visit to her local optician.

As we get outdoors more, check your pet daily as some like the taste of a humans too! Ticks can carry infection and disease, the most commonly known one being Lyme Disease. The bite is usually painless but the risk of infection increases the longer it is attached, so do remove them swiftly using a tick remover, or ask your vet to do so if you are not sure how to do this safely without leaving the head in the skin. Prevention is most certainly better than cure in this instance, so do talk to us about effective options. Don’t forget, Protect My Pet Club members are entitled to a discount on tick treatments too!

It is suspected that the disease spreads from muddy and wooded areas, so to minimise risk, we recommend washing mud off your dog as soon as you can. Importantly, early intervention makes for better outcomes, so do not hesitate to bring your dog in to one of our practices if they have any sores that you are concerned about.

Why I Love My Job By Eilish Fitzpatrick to find the dog afterwards, but he was so frightened he wouldn’t come anywhere near them.
Back in October 2016, Eilish and Dan left the UK to travel Asia and New Zealand for a year on a total budget of £30 a day which included food, accommodation and activities.
They spent days trying to find rescue centres and vets to get him help but none of them would. But then they found May Solidum from Dogs of Alona over 300 miles away. “She was the only person that truly cared. She gave us hope when we thought there was none, she messaged us almost every hour, telling us what medicine to buy, how to treat the wound and how to gain his trust. Over 4 weeks, we slowly built a relationship with him, and he’d even eat from our hands.”
They arrived in the Philippines in December, and instantly fell in love with the place. The landscape was stunning and the locals were incredibly kind. They travelled to El Nido to do a diving course and the mood changed. “Thats when we saw what a state the animals were in; starving and many living with horrific injuries. We honestly felt guilty for enjoying ourselves. We couldn’t walk past them to go and spend money on nice things, it just didn’t feel right. One dog in particular broke our hearts, we named him Chance.”
But the couple were due to move on, “We started flagging down tourists in the streets, trying to find someone to continue the antibiotics until we found another option. Then we met JJ, a diving instructor living in the town. If it weren’t for him, Chance would have certainly died, JJ was his guardian angel”.
“We were on our way to dinner when we saw a dog dart through the crowd, it’s neck stained in blood.” Eilish was in tears. “I couldn’t imagine the pain that dog must have been in. I couldn’t eat, I felt sick, I’ll never forget that feeling.” They saved their meals and tried 74
Our Jobs With Chance in safe hands, they travelled to Port Barton and ended up befriending another dog called Choy. “We found him in a corner shaking, scared of the fireworks one evening. He followed us back to our hotel and stayed in our room. From that day, he’d follow us everywhere and even came kayaking with us! We were upset to leave him, but he was healthy and happy. We thought he was in a safe place.” found. "But we couldn’t knowing that he’d be killed. After a tearful call to our parents, we decided to adopt him there and then.” Both dogs arrived in the UK in October 2017 and are settling in well with their new families, but they wish that the same outcome could be possible for more dogs in need.
A few months past, Chance was doing really well, he put on weight, his wound although not healed wasn’t infected and everyone was hopeful. But then he got attacked again and the wound was double the size. “We had to get him out of there, but by this point we were in Indonesia. So we started a fundraiser and within a week got £800 in donations. May found a lady called Jackie Baut on the island who runs a wonderful organisation called PAWFI. She agreed to take Chance in and he arrived there a week later with the help of JJ.”
Now they want to help the charities that made everything possible, Dogs of Alona and PAWFI (Palawan Animal Welfare Inc). They have set up a facebook page called ‘The Happy Paws Project’ fb.me/happypawsprojects and will be posting events to raise money on their behalf. Whilst in Jackie’s care, Chance learnt to trust people again. She cared for him every day painstakingly for 4 months. He was finally safe and able to rest. We desperately wanted to thank and volunteer for Jackie so we returned in May 2017 to see Chance before being rehomed in the UK.

Jackie got a call to say that there was a wounded dog in Port Barton, so “We took a cage and went on a rescue mission. Of all the dogs, it turned out to be Choy. He had been slashed with a knife and could hardly walk. It took time but we found him, took him to the city and using some of the money we raised, paid for all his medical treatment.” The rescue policy is to treat and release; Choy was fixed, he needed to go back to where he was 75

How Gardens Have Changed! Watching my grandsons play in the garden, I realised how different it is from the garden I used to romp around in sixty years ago. Our south-west London estate had relatively huge gardens, if it had been built today it would have had twice the houses and smaller gardens. My parents’youths were engulfed by WW2, rationing and“dig for victory”, so two-thirds of our garden was for growing food. The veg patch with its rows of potatoes, beans, cabbages and salad plants with rhubarb crowns, gooseberries and blackcurrants was bordered by apple trees with only a few traditional flowers like chrysanthemums, roses and nasturtiums. As children, we assisted and adopted patches to grow our own contributions. In retirement dad had a greenhouse for tomatoes which were stored with bananas in brown paper bags to ripen if it was a poor summer! One-year, mum made vats of green tomato chutney rather than waste a crop so late even bags and bananas couldn’t save it. Dad built us a large sand-pit to play in and the almond tree in the front lawn was the goal-post in many neighbourhood football games. Not everyone had such practical gardens but most had vegetable beds and very few had gardens geared towards leisure. Weekends saw most people working in their gardens and there was sometimes extra pocket money for helpers. Today, gardens seem smaller and supermarkets provide a wide range of cheap produce that wouldn’t thrive in British gardens. I don’t know anyone on our estate who grows food (beyond pots of herbs), most gardens are geared towards low maintenance and leisure time – paved, gravelled or decked with small flower beds. Patios, barbeque areas and parasols dominate in gardens that are for relaxing and entertaining not growing. Whilst occasionally nostalgic for the garden where dad us to build cane tepees for runner beans and for his rhubarb which we split and planted in every home I lived in until I was in my 50’s. My garden has also been turned over to leisure and low maintenance, a small patio and lawn, flower borders and low maintenance fences in place of hedges. We spend sunny days relaxing or mowing the lawn but it’s mainly the grand-children and the birds who use the garden now and in honesty we prefer it that way – it allows for hobbies and leisure activities that my parents would never have found time for. 80

Over 40 staff from a leading law firm in the Midlands are swapping their day roles for hiking boots and aerodynamic lycra to raise more than £10,000 for Birmingham Children’s Hospital. Solicitors and legal support staff from Talbots Law will be climbing Snowdown, England and Wales’ largest mountain, in July, whilst a team of Directors - Callum Haynes, Matt Wistow and Peter Hill - will be tackling a mammoth London to Paris bike ride.
Mary continued: “Our largest team effort is still to come with over 40 employees looking to raise £6,000 by climbing 1085 meters to the top of Snowdown. It’s fair to say that this is a big, big challenge for some of our staff.”
The two challenges were announced at the firm’s quarterly Breakfast Club, an informal networking event that attracts over 70 professionals and local businesses to Hagley Hall.

Investing for children and grandchildren Many parents want to plan for their children’s future and the large expenses that are likely to arise as they get older. There does seem to be more financial pressure on youngsters to establish themselves, typically University costs, getting married or buying a first home.

Investing for them when they are very young can make a big difference later on thanks to the compounding of any investment/interest growth over many years. Given the long timescales involved this also allows for greater risk-taking and higher potential returns.
Lifetime ISA (LISA) Anyone aged 18 to 39 can open a LISA with the potential of a government bonus. It's designed for two specific purposes. One is for first-time buyers to use towards a deposit for a residential property; the second is for retirement from age 60. It can be cash savings – so you get interest – or stocks and shares investing – so you potentially get growth.
Children’s savings accounts Like most savings accounts, these are easy to pay into, typically provide access to funds, and also pay some interest. Money given to a child by each parent or step-parent which generates more than £100/year in interest will be taxed at the parent's tax rate, with the parent being liable for any tax due. The good news is that this doesn’t apply to money from grandparents or other relatives.
For parents wanting to help their child buy a home, giving them cash to put in a LISA is a great way to give them a hand. They can save up to £4,000 a year in a LISA as a lump sum or by putting in cash when they can. The bonus with a LISA is that the Government will then add 25% on top. So if they save £1,000, they’ll have £1,250 and if they save the full £4,000, they’ll have £5,000. And that's before interest or growth.
Junior ISA Junior ISAs let you save and invest on behalf of a child under 18. Whether you invest in a Cash ISA or Stocks & Shares ISA there will be no income tax or Capital Gains tax liability on either the child, or you as the parent. You can save up to £4,260 for the tax year 2018/19 for each of your children. Cash ISA’s are essentially the same as savings accounts but with no tax liability.
Another £4,000 can be paid every year until they hit age 50 (if your child hasn’t bought a house before then). The maximum bonus is £33,000 if they open it at 18, and make contributions until they reach 50. They can take some or all of their cash out of a LISA before age 60 even if they’re not buying a property. However, it'll usually cost them– so it's best to try to only use the LISA if you're

So if you pay into your grandchild’s pension, for example, you could pay the annual maximum of £2,880 and stay comfortably within the taxfree gift limits, while your gift would become £3,600 through tax relief.
Savings towards your child’s future retirement might not be the first thing you think of when considering the options for saving for your child. It also means they’ll only be able to access this pension money when they are a more sensible 55 years old (rising to 57 in 2028). This potentially 40 or 50 year period gives scope for high growth, especially when you factor in the benefits of compounding over time.
Trusts Another option is to consider setting up a trust. This allows you to give away money now, but still retain an element of control over how this is invested, and when the children have access to the funds if you are a named trustee. Trustees control the money of the trust until such a time that the funds are paid out to the beneficiaries.
Any parent can set up a pension for a child, you could save up to £2,880 tax efficiently each tax year with the advantage of the Government automatically topping up any contribution by 20% basic rate relief. This means the actual amount invested becomes £3,600. Be aware that unlike your own pension contributions which may qualify for higher rate relief if you are a 40% tax payer, there would only be 20% relief for a child’s pension.
There are a number of different trusts available to fit different situations and can based on the amount of control you need over the money. Please be aware that before making any financial decision based on this article you should take advice to ensure any action you take is appropriate for your circumstances.
Once they reach 18, the pension will automatically transfer to your child’s control and ideally they can then start to contribute to it themselves.

THE NEW MGZS The new MGZS is without doubt the best looking car that the Chinese owners of the brand have produced, writes Bob Hickman. The ZS is built in China but lots of the design work has taken place at Longbridge in the Midlands. The front has a bold new corporate look that really does stand out and make a statement.
The ZS has an over all length of just over 4.3 metres, the width is 1.8 metres and a height of 1.636 metres. The cabin itself is extremely roomy and you have sufficient room for a six footer in the driving seat and six foot tall people in the rear with ample leg, head, and shoulder room.
The SUV market is a very fast growing segment and the ZS is pitched against Juke’s, Mazda CX3’s, Vauxhall Mokka, and the Renault Captur and several others in this highly competitive marketplace.
The level of specification is on the high side even the Explore, which is the entry level, has a decent infotainment system and cruise control, in addition LED daytime running lights are standard. The Excite and Exclusive are the value vehicles, for £1500 over the Explore you now inherit alloy wheels, leather steering wheels, 8” touch screen, front fog lights, air conditioning, parking sensors, quite an extensive array of extras. The top specification Exclusive adds another £1500 in to the equation this introduces 17” diamond cut alloy wheels, a satellite navigation system and also a reversing camera, Apple Car Play and a 6-way adjustable seating system.
One feature that is going to be a major consideration and a major appeal is the warranty that MG are offering, 7 years or 80,000 miles, to give this warranty shows that the company is extremely confident about the product.
From the driver’s seat the soft touch dashboard mouldings are quite an attractive option with the intricate stitching, the touchscreen being in the centre of the dashboard is a pleasant feature with all controls immediately visible and just by giving a touch on the screen it
It is important first of all to mention the pricing structure of the new ZS, there are 3 derivatives, Explore, Excite, and Exclusive, the Explore range being the entry level, start at a mere £12,495 on the road and the top specification Exclusive, with the 6-speed automatic gearbox, at £17,495, is a lot of car for the money.

is possible to change the items. All of the controls and switchgear are within easy reach and surprisingly enough in this day and age they are logical and easy to use and understand.
MG suggests my 1.5 litre test vehicle should offer in the region of 49.6 mpg on the combined cycle, however during the week in company with the vehicle, the computer suggests 38mpg was nearer the mark.
There is not a great amount of information contained within the binnacle immediately in front of the driver, the dials, a speedometer, rev counter, and fuel gauge, and I was disappointed there wasn’t a digital display incorporated to remind you of the speed that you are travelling at.
They also allege the vehicle has a top speed of 109mph and a 0-60 in 10.4 seconds. The ZS drove extremely well, the ride was well damped, however the 1.5-litre engine did at times appeared a little lethargic and needed to be revved more than I like to gain the necessary get up and go. Performance and progress I would describe as being steady rather than sporty or exciting in any way.
The ZS is available with a choice of 2 petrol engines, either a conventional 4-cylinder 1498cc engine or a 3-cylinder 999cc which is equipped with a turbo charger. Surprisingly the smaller derivative is actually the most powerful MG claim it produces 111ps as opposed to 106 for the slightly bigger 4-cylinder derivative.
To conclude the ZS scores very well, the specification is extremely good even on the entry level, interior space and boot space are excellent and the interior cabin is a secure and pleasant place to be cocooned within.
CO2 emissions are not too impressive, the 1.5-litre petrol is producing 129 g/km whilst its smaller automatic 1-litre engine is producing 144 g/km.
The vehicle is extremely competitively priced with the wonderful 7-year warranty, I think MGZS sales are going to be excellent in 2018. Prices range between ÂŁ12,495 and ÂŁ17,495.
