Firstly, Peta arranged a suitable time to visit and view the work required with the customer. The fitted kitchen was of dark oak and over 30 years old and in need of a face lifts which required a bit of inspiration. Using existing colours of the walls and tiles which a Mediterranean theme had to be continued when deciding on a colour for the fitted kitchen.

Ingredients for braising 1 kilo of short ribs with plenty of meat 200g carrots peeled and chopped 1 spanish onions roughly chopped half a celery a few sprigs of thyme, rosemary and a few bay leaves 50g of red chillies 1 whole garlic bulb bashed and peeled - use cloves whole 5 cloves, 1 cinnamon stick, 3 star anise, 1 tsp of fennel seeds, 1 tsp of coriander seeds toasted. olive oil 2 litres of beef stock
METHOD Heat the oven to 200oC Place the onion, garlic, chillies, celery, carrot, herbs and spices into a deep baking tray and toss in olive oil then place the beef ribs on top, season with salt and pepper. Roast

in the oven until well browned all over usually 40 minutes. Once browned pour in the beef stock and place parchment paper over the top and then cover and seal the tin with kitchen foil. Place back in the oven, turn down to 170oC and braise for about 2.5 hours or until falling off the bone.
INGREDIENTS Ingredients fro pesto 50g of basil a handful of washed spinach from a 300g bag 30g of toasted cashew nuts glug of olive oil 50g of parmesan cheese grated 2 garlic cloves blitz everything together ready to add to the tart
Whilst the first phase of the beef roasting is going on, soften the 2nd batch of onion and garlic in olive oil and add in the coriander stalks and 1 scotch bonnet finely diced. Now add in the chopped tomatoes (skins and seeds) and tomato paste, add 1 litre of water and simmer everything until soft. Put aside until the beef is braised.
To make the tart
Rinse then beans and then cook for about an hour in salted water until soft.
1 packet of filo pastry 100g of butter 300g bag of spinach - reserve some spinach for the potato salad and use the rest for the tart 3 medium eggs 1 packet of feta cheese 1/4 of a nutmeg finely grated 1 tbsp of the pesto half a red onion save the other half for potato salad 2 garlic cloves 1kilo of new potatoes a sprinkle of pumpkin seeds maldon sea salt olive oil
Once the beef has completely softened, allow to cool for a while and then pull the meat away from the bones and other tissues. Pour the braising liquid into the tomato sauce and simmer for an hour or so adding the beans and beef. Add the gravy browning for a rich silky looking sauce. To garnish Slice the red onions into rings as thin as you can - use a mandolin if you have one and place in the gram flour and cajun seasoning mix. Heat the fryer to 185oC then dip the rings into the milk and then back into the spiced flour then into the hot oil for a few minutes until crispy. Use the spider to safely take the rings out of the hot oil and place on kitchen paper to catch the extra oil drips.

In a mixing bowl add the spinach, softened garlic and onion then crumble the feta in and grate in the nutmeg. Add 1 or 2 tablespoons on pesto depending on how much you like pesto. The more the merrier I say then crack in the eggs and season with a pinch or 2 of Maldon sea salt and black pepper. Get your hands in a squish everything together ready to fill pastry. Don't break the feta up too much as you want chunks of it in the tart. Pre heat your oven to 180oC
Bake on 180oC for 30 minutes. Whilst the tart is baking toss the potatoes in oil and season then bake on the baking tray if there is room or get a second tray.
Melt the butter without browning in the pan and lay out a sheet of filo pastry on a piece of parchment paper on the baking sheet, brush half with the melted butter then fold the unbuttered
Once cooked, allow the tart to cool for 5 minutes whilst you bash the potatoes up a little and add the other red onion, finely sliced raw, pumpkin seeds and spinach then dress with some of the pesto and serve.

Bromsgrove – A Happy School Bromsgrove has a vibrant arts scene with numerous opportunities for pupils to perform both large and small projects. A new performing arts centre with a concert hall and multiple rehearsal areas is currently under construction, to be completed by September 2017. Why I Love My Job By Gill Hayward, Co-Founder and Director, YUUworld to market. We recruited a talented young product designer and after many weeks round a kitchen table we boarded a flight to China to visit a factory and create our first prototype. Seeing first hand the production process was fascinating and working with the Chinese team to help bring our unique product to life was hugely rewarding. Our range is unlike any other regular backpack range. Our dream was to design a children’s backpack that was an on-the-go entertainment station. With the help of our designer and the dedicated factory team we created a unique, multifunctional and much loved product for children. It has a fold-down desk, a multitude of pockets and compartments for a child’s kit and caboodle, and we even inserted a secret compartment. Adding a YUUfun pack with games and stationery and integrating a whistle into the backpack completed our product offering and we knew after months of hard work we had nailed it.
Kellie Forbes and Gill Hayward I love my job, or rather we love our jobs! Kellie and I are the closest of work partners and we’re also best friends. We met over 20 years ago working together in advertising. Fast forward to 2010 and we finally took the plunge and launched YUUworld, a unique range of kids’ activity backpacks with fold down desk, funpack and brimming with pockets and storage. The biggest thrill of our jobs is the rollercoaster of new challenges we are presented with daily. These are hugely varied – this month we are working on our Crowdfunding campaign to bring our new GPS tracker bag to market and last month we were immersed in colour charts and graphics for our holidays and back to school range. When we started the business we both came from marketing backgrounds, so the first steep learning curve was learning the design process and what’s involved in bringing a new product

Hearing children singing the lines to our TV ad is still one of our most treasured moments.

We braved the Dragons’ Den in 2012, securing offers from all 5 dragons and the following year launched our business into Australia, with Scandinavia and Russia following afterwards.
Despite the long hours, and the constant challenges we face, running our own business is incredibly rewarding. And working with your best friend is ultimately what we both love most about our job!
Today we have a small but perfectly formed YUU team and each team member brings enthusiasm, talent and dedication to the table. As business owners it can be hard to stand back and see the business as a whole, immersed as we all are in the day to day. But Kellie and I have a pact. We try to remember to take time to appreciate the journey we have been on and reflect on the great experiences we have had, and what a fantastic team we have around us.
About YUU: YUU was founded in 2010 by ex-colleagues and mums Gill Hayward and Kellie Forbes with the launch of the first range of kid’s activity backpacks after they identified a gap in the market to create an exciting, durable and portable solution providing entertainment for children on-the-go in a caring, protective way.
We’re currently in the midst of one of most exciting ventures since launch. As a small business it can be difficult to have the capital to bring new projects or products to market. For over 18 months we had been devising a brand new YUU backpack, with integrated GPS. Tech play meets active play! We decided that we needed to call on the support of ‘the crowd’ to help us bring YUUgo to life.
Since then, YUUbags have been a storming success with sales exceeding 75,000 YUUbags from the website alone. YUUbags are also sold internationally in Australia & NZ, Russia, Benelux and Scandinavia. In 2012, YUU appeared on Dragon’s Den in 2012 and secured investment from Peter Jones and Deborah Meaden following a highly successful pitch which left all 5 Dragons wanting to invest.
As a project YUUgo has been really interesting and fun to work on, we partnered with GoTEK7, a company with over 20 years of GPS tracker experience. You have now developed a whole set of skills that will enable you to be creative, manage a budget, meet deadlines, coordinate suppliers and most importantly manage expectations! Maybe give one of your rooms a makeover or plan and oversee a design for a new garden. You may even want to do some of the work yourself so you could take a course to give you another string to your bow and help replicate the same sense of achievement that you found on your wedding day.

How the rise in facial aesthetics has a hand in the decrease in invasive surgeries. New research undergone by The British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons (BAAPS), shows that within the UK, the number of people undergoing cosmetic surgery has dropped dramatically. Having reached a peak in 2015, the amount of people opting for cosmetic surgeries fell by an enormous 40% in 2016.

Combine these external factors with what’s going on inside our body (hormone changes, stress, and fatigue) and it’s clear to see that our skin’s appearance will change over time. One of the key changes in our skin is the levels of hyaluronic acid produced by our skin. Hyaluronic acid is a sugar that is produced naturally in the skin, keeping it plump. As we get older, levels of hyaluronic acid decreases, causing folds and wrinkles on the surface of our skin. Dermal fillers are made from hyaluronic acid and work by reintroducing the missing hyaluronic acid, giving the patient an instantly plumper, more hydrated and more youthful look.
They claim that the reason for the fall in surgical procedures is borne from a climate of global unrest and ‘bad news overload’. Preoccupied with weightier issues, patients choose to prioritise stability and comfort over big life changes. Interestingly, in contrast to this, anecdotal evidence shows that the number of people undergoing non-surgical cosmetic treatments, such as injectable facial fillers, continues to rise. This could be linked to the evolution of facial aesthetics.

Programmes can be designed to suit the patient’s needs and more and more, we’re seeing practices offer the option to pay monthly, and spread the cost of treatment throughout the year. Patients can correct wrinkles and scars, contour face and mouth and (one which is fast becoming a UK favourite thanks to popular reality TV shows!) increasing the volume of one’s lips.
In the past ten years, facial aesthetics have become more polished and sophisticated. Gone are the days of the frozen face and pillow cheeks. GENERAL MANAGER CELEBRATES THREE DECADES OF RAMSAY SERVICE After the birth of her second child, Gloria stepped down from the Matron role at Winfield to become a Ward night sister and an Infection Control Lead. She is now in her thirteenth year at West Midlands Hospital which she joined as Matron in 2004 before taking up the General Manager role in 2006. Gloria, of Malvern, who is originally from Essex, was also General Manager at Rowley Hall Hospital, Stafford in a dual role split with West Midlands Hospital between 2010 and 2014. Gloria said: “I can’t believe how quickly the time has gone but I’ve got some wonderful memories working in different hospitals.

SHAUN IS REBUILDING AGAIN AFTER SPINAL FUSION SURGERY Shaun Chislett is delighted with the outcome of his spinal surgery at West Midlands Hospital.
A self-employed builder has laid new foundations for his future after being boosted by life changing spinal fusion surgery.

Fact or Fiction? Busting some of the most common myths about pet healthcare

your vet. We are also often asked about natural alternatives to vaccinations and medication. Again, there is little evidence to support their effectiveness with results varying greatly from animal to animal. Alternative medicine isn’t regulated by a central body meaning that quality of ingredients cannot be standardised and monitored, which in turn poses a potential safety risk to your pet. As a practice, we never take risks with the health of your pet and only use proven medication that has been thoroughly tested through professional, clinical trials.
Whether we speak to friends and family or research topics on the internet, there’s certainly lots of advice out there for pet owners, much of it conflicting! So how can we be certain that we’re acting in our pets’ best interests and following sound, proven guidance when there’s so much advice to choose from? Here at Blacks, we put education at the centre of our practice and aim to equip our clients with the latest advice on a broad range of pet healthcare topics. We regularly encounter views about pet health that are either based on outdated information or that there is a lack of evidence for. Here are some of the most common misconceptions:
MYTH: Bones are good for dogs OUR ADVICE: Whilst your dog may certainly enjoy gnawing on a juicy bone, we unfortunately see regular cases that demonstrate the damage they can do. Both cooked and raw bones can shatter and become stuck in the throat or other areas of the digestive system. This can lead to dangerous complications. Every year we see cases of dogs requiring urgent surgery to remove trapped bone and sadly, some dogs don’t even make it to us and die from choking. Death can also be caused by bone shards tearing the oesophagus which is irreparable and can also lead to blockages and damage in the intestines. It is usually far safer to give your dog a chew toy to chomp on. Always choose a reputable manufacturer and make sure that the toy has been rigorously tested for durability.
MYTH: Bitches should have a litter before spaying OUR ADVICE: There is insufficient medical evidence to support the notion that bitches should give birth before they are spayed. In fact, there are many complications and risks that can arise during pregnancy, so unless you are certain that you want your dog to breed, it is far safer to spay earlier in their reproductive life than risk an unwanted pregnancy. A litter of pups is a huge commitment and ensuring that they are properly cared for and find good, caring homes can be both costly and time consuming. MYTH: Pets build up natural immunity so there is no need to vaccinate every year.

OUR ADVICE: Firstly, vaccinations run in cycles and not all need to be updated every year. Ask your vet for guidance on this. Whilst some pets may still retain a level of immunity within a few months of their due date, many do not, and there is no way to be certain without thorough testing. One thing we know for sure is that immunity does not build and the only way to be confident that your pet is protected is to follow the immunisation schedule set out by

A flea infestation can happen at any time of the year leaving your pet not only uncomfortable but also a risk to others, including humans! An infestation at home can be difficult to resolve and involves rigorous cleaning and washing repeatedly over a 4-week period to ensure

In terms of worms, some types can be transmitted to kittens via their mother so your new fluffy bundle may already be infected when you bring them home. We recommend regular worming and flea treatment as part of your pet’s care regime, irrespective of whether your cat goes outdoors.
