LEADING BaltiMORE
BALTIMORE OVERVIEW
CONCEPT DIAGRAM
Baltimore is considered one of the shrinking cities in the U.S. With more people relocating to other regions outside of the city, it has become significant to help stop the decrease of population. Some factors such as food desert and
poverty show correlation due to the lack of access to resources. TREE CANOPY
The lack of tree canopy also plays into role as certain regions of the city are bleak and receive low ecological benefits. Reservoir Hill is one of the neighborhoods in Baltimore that would benefit from design solutions to enhance lifestyle quality in the community.
The three main ideas: lead, provide, and influence will be incorporated into the design through three different phase developments.
The existing conditions of Reservoir Hill neighborhood emphasizes the need for a stronger, self-
sustaining community. A stronger connection to Druid Hill Park is also necessary in order to attract more visitors and allow for a more convenient access route. The overall design intent is
to create spaces that will provide resources for the surrounding communities and establish a

DESIGN INTENT smoother transition into Druid Hill Park by incorporating program elements that increase food security, community engagement, and educational programs. The design
is divided into three different phases in order to ensure each phase will provide the community with resources as well as help guide them to Druid Hill Park without the use of signage but instead using natural elements.

Establishing more community farms will help increase food security as well as awareness and create educational opportunities for the public.
Although there are few cornerstores in the neighborhood, the need for grocery stores or more food sources are significant to help support community food needs.

INFLUE
There is an opportunity to provide an environmental educational experience to school children by creating outdoor spaces that support these activities.
