Tristan Auer Toutes ses faveurs vont au lin glacé de chez Dominique Kieffer, nuances grises à bleu-vert aux reflets sophistiqués pour le tendre en décors muraux. Plus intimement, le lin entre chez lui pannotant les intérieurs de dressing : couleurs fortes, cloutage visible et parfum de cade à la clé. « Versatile, le lin est pour moi une matière naturelle, vivante, emplie de qualités ». Sinon, gros faible pour les lins froissés aux coloris lavés/délavés pour habiller les sièges d’une maison de campagne en été. Plus technique : les panneaux d’isolation en laine de lin qu’il utilise au gré des chantiers privés. Tristan Auer is rather fond of Dominique Kieffer’s glazed linen, in greyed to bluegreen shades with sophisticated hues to hang as wall decor. Linen also has a more intimate presence for him in the dressing room: strong colours, exposed nails and the scent of juniper into the bargain. “Linen, for me, is a versatile and natural material, one that’s alive and full of qualities.” He has a weakness for wrinkled linens in washed/faded colours, ideal for upholstering the seating of a country house in summer. It ensures endless variations, both visually and in its potential uses. More technically: he employs linen-wool insulation panels for private commissions.

Émilie Bonaventure Le lin pour sa texture profonde et ses non-couleurs naturelles : c’est par cette fenêtre qu’Émilie Bonaventure a initialement travaillé le lin en rideaux et aussi en panneaux muraux, collaborant là avec la maison Dedar et ici avec Pierre Frey et ses collections Natécru. Nouveauté : le lin passe à la couleur, réclamée par le concept global de l’Auberge du Père Bise, postée en bordure du lac d’Annecy. Corail et gris/ acquaviva/céladon. Pierre Frey à nouveau dans le décor ainsi que la maison de fibres matuelles CMO pour les murs. Elle signale avoir, pour un projet privé, commandé chez Cogolin, les magnifiques tapis Nord-Sud en velours de lin, laine et soie sur base d’ortie créés par Stéphane Parmentier. Linen for its deep texture and its natural non-colours: this marked the entryway for Emilie Bonaventure to initially use linen for curtains as well as for wall panels, collaborating here with Dedar and there with Pierre Frey’s Natécru collections. What’s new is the use of colour, necessitated by the global concept of the Auberge du Père Bise, on the shores of Lac d’Annecy in France. Coral and grey/acquaviva/ celadon green. Pierre Frey once again for the décor, as well as CMO matte fibres for the walls. And, for a private project, she reports having commissioned from Cogolin the magnificent Nord-Sud carpets in linen, wool and silk velvet on a nettle base designed by Stéphane Parmentier.

Vincent Darré Investi dans sa collection-manifeste Renaissance présentée in-situ et en toute insolence en son appartement-galerie du 13, rue Royale, Vincent Darré y fait montre d’un goût appuyé pour l’excellence des métiers d’art. Après un premier tissu lin/coton imprimé des dessins de Pierre Le Tan utilisé en panneaux décoratifs et têtes de lit, le voici aborder le lin pur. Une nouveauté envisagée par le biais d’anciennes collections de lin unis des Olivades sur lesquelles il a imprimé ses propres dessins, hommages aux « grotesques » sur fonds bleu et ocre, mutant façon trompe l’œil la perception d’un tissu du XVIIIème siècle en exercice contemporain effronté, « de loin on dirait un classique, de près, c’est Zébulon ». With his Renaissance manifesto collection boldly showcased in his apartment-gallery at 13 Rue Royale, Vincent Darré exhibits a strong taste to craftsmanship excellence. Following a first linen/cotton fabric printed with drawings by Pierre Le Tan used for decorative panels and headboards, he now turns his attentions to pure linen. This new introduction is envisaged through solid linens selected from old collections by Olivades on which he has printed his own drawings, homages to “grotesques” on a blue and ochre ground, giving a trompe l’oeil alteration to the perception of an 18thcentury fabric with a cheeky contemporary take. “From afar it looks like a classic, but up close it’s Zebulon.”

Dorothée Meilichzon Naturel et voilé. Teint sur mesure et voilà. C’est avec ces voilages de lin de chez Nobilis que Dorothé Meilichzon a suscité l’atmosphère vaporeuse de l’Hôtel des Grands Boulevards à Paris. Légèreté, souplesse, transparence, maille ouverte : le lin est son dada, apposé également en tête de lit de son projet hôtelier en cours à Minorque. Un lin brut, imparfait, accidenté qui « structure les décors ». Une sensibilité à la matière exprimée depuis ses débuts dans le métier, illustrée par ses réalisations à Paris comme ailleurs. En tête de ses fournisseurs d’élection, Rubelli, Pierre Frey, Sanderson.... Lin, l’une et les autres. Natural and vaporous, dyed to order and, voilà. With these linen voiles from Nobilis, Dorothé Meilichzon has created the airy atmosphere of the Hôtel des Grands Boulevards in Paris. With lightness, flexibility, transparency, loose knits: linen is her favourite go-to, it also features on the headboards of her hotel project underway in Menorca. A raw, imperfect, uneven linen that “structures the interiors”. She has expressed a sensitivity for the material since she started out in her profession, illustrated as much in her work in Paris as elsewhere. Christien Meindertsma Du lin dur comme design-médium. Ou l’art du flax-form selon Christien Meindertsma, diplômée de la Design Academy d’Eindhoven. Connue pour ses recherches sur les matières brutes et crues, la designer a été multi-récompensée pour avoir dompté le flax en une néo-matière à base de lin et de PLA, une résine plastique 100% bio-dégradable, teintable à l’envi, ou non, et dont elle a déjà faconné quelques lampes et surtout la chaise Flax. Coque fixée sur un piètement origami, ce siège qui est édité par la firme Label Breed et produit par Enkev, société spécialisée dans les fibres naturelles, a été distinguée en 2016 par un Dutch Design Award, et a déjà été exposé en divers musées dont le MoMA, le V&A et le Fries Museum. Hard flax as a design medium - or the art of flax-form according to Christien Meindertsma, a graduate from the Design Academy Eindhoven. Since then, the designer, known for her research into rough and raw materials, has won a multitude of awards for her mastery of flax, with a neo-material based on flax and PLA, a 100% bio-degradable plastic resin, dyeable as desired, and which she has already made into a number of lamps and most particularly the Flax chair. A fixed shell on an origami base, this seat, is marketed by the firm Label Breed and produced by Enkev, a company specialising in natural fibres. The chair was distinguished in 2016 with a Dutch Design Award, and has already been exhibited in various museums including MoMA, the V&A and the Fries Museum.

Bruno Moinard Le lin ou les limbes de la création : pour Bruno Moinard, chaque projet débute en son atelier par des esquisses sur châssis tendus de lin. « Un atelier installé en ma maison de campagne normande, cernée de champs de lin ! ». Une matière utilisée à foison au coeur de toutes ses réalisations, exception faite de l’hôtellerie : « le lin vit, vibre, glisse, plisse sans jamais perdre sa noblesse et en conférant à chaque endroit, chaque pièce, un chic unique ». Brut ou glacé, Bruno Moinard recourt volontiers aux lins tissés de fils d’or, de cuir, de cuivre, notamment pour habiller les sièges de ses collections mobilières Bruno Moinard Éditions. L’homme se fournit essentiellement chez Pierre Frey, chez Dedar en Italie, aussi en Belgique... Linen or creative limbo: for Bruno Moinard, each project begins in his workshop with sketches and motifs painted on stretched linen: “A workshop located in my Normandy country house, surrounded by flax fields!” He uses the material extensively in all his commissions, with the exception of hotels: “Linen lives, pulses, slips and pleats without losing its nobility and lends each place, each piece, a unique chic.” Raw or glossy, Bruno Moinard enthusiastically embraces linens woven with gold, leather and copper, especially as seating upholsteries in his Bruno Moinard Éditions furniture collections, and sources primarily from Pierre Frey, from Dedar in Italy, also from Belgium...

Paola Navone Le lin comme fibre improviste. « Ce n’est pas moi qui suis allée le chercher mais lui qui s’est invité dans ma vie et mon travail ». Pour Paola Navone, depuis les années 1990, le lin est indissociable du succès suscité par la collection Ghost par elle façonnée pour Gervasoni, firme dont elle assure aussi la direction artistique. Pierre Sauvage Vaisselle, verrerie, céramique, tapis, mobilier : le répertoire de table et de maison plein soleil de Casa Lopez s’ouvre pour la première fois au lin avec une collection inédite lancée en mai 2018 aux deux références textiles vendues au mètre et baptisées Arkos et Arkos Rayures. Deux bases de haute qualité, épaisses et souples à la fois, fournies par la firme belge Libeco et imprimées de rayures ou du motif ibérique érigé en image de la maison.
