ike Morgan and colleagues recently undertook a 26 mile walk from Lancaster to Blackpool in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support and you can still help out.

Mike Morgan said ‘I always try to carry out a charity walk each year as I believe that incorporating a good act into my life makes it all worthwhile. The year 2018 was going to be no exception so on Friday 12th January, We set off from Lancaster Hospital to walk the 26 miles to Norcross in Blackpool on a sponsored walk. During my journey, I was joined by my colleagues for moral support. Fellow FM Mike Morris did the full 26 miles with me whilst Sara Gainer, my Regional Manager, walked a half marathon with us, completing 13 miles. Steve Watson, drove the support vehicle and met us at key locations with food and drinks and a bit of TLC. Both the Mikes started the walk at 06:50am at Lancaster Hospital. Their first stop was four miles in. ‘The weather was looking good and we both kept to a decent pace’, said Morris, ‘At our second stop we were met with much needed rolls and hot drinks. We checked our feet for blisters etc. before heading on our way again. We were then met by Sara who joined us for the remainder of the journey. Two stops later for food and drink, we finally arrived at Norcross at 15:50, a bit sore but happy that we had completed our walk! ational Coastwatch, Rossall Point are holding an event to celebrate ten years of being in operation this May.
The Rossall Point station was opened in 2008 in the old Coast Guard station. It has since been replaced by a modern tower which opened in 2013 and houses the National Coastwatch operations room on the third level. The facility provides a superb lookout across Morecombe Bay, the Lune Deep channel and the approaches to Fleetwood, Glasson and Heysham. The National Coastwatch Institution (NCI) is an entirely voluntary organisation keeping a visual watch along UK shores. Each station assists in the Safety of Life at Sea (SOLAS) and the safety of people using the beach and foreshore around the UK coastline. To celebrate there will be an event on 13th May running from 11am to 4pm with prizes to be won including meals out amongst other things. Kids Sandcastle Competition, a Rescue Demonstration in front of the Tower and a host of other activities.
