LINK-Sport BJFF Annual Tournament - Festival of Football By the time you read this article, BJFF will have been the proud hosts of the BIGGEST football tournament to be held in the Country, perhaps in the World...........!!!! - Our August Bank Holiday 3-Day football festival hosts 275 teams competing from Under 7's - Under 15's age groups, with teams entered from all over the country. All of the action took place at Bispham Gala Field, and all of the boys and girls had a fantastic time with the weather being kind to us on the most part. There were winners and losers, but all of the players enjoyed themselves, and we hope to welcome back most of the teams for next year, when we will be looking to be bigger and better than ever before, with a target of 300 teams......... all of the hard work, effort and commitment put in by BJFF stalwarts helped us to raise much needed funds for the Club which will be ploughed back into the development of facilities and the provision of kit and equipment for our 400 plus playing members. We are grateful to Martin Gardner and the team at LINK-Magazine for producing the official tournament programme which as well as being a superbly pulled together professional publication, it also helped us topull in thousands of pounds from our visitors. Stay tuned to the next edition of Link magazine for news on the winners of each age group and some action shots from the 3days......!!! Football For ALL Initiative......Our Football For ALL initiative welcomes children who are new to football, or who would just like some extra training, with the emphasis on a fun and friendly environment. Headed up by Level 2 coaches, Andi Whitworth and Joe Rooney, we welcome Boys and Girls aged between 4 and 11, each and every Sunday, from 10:30am - Midday. Trainers, Football Boots, Shin Pads and a Drink recommended. The BJFF Club House is on the corner of Kelvin Road and Carr Road and has a fully-stocked snack bar which will be open serving hot and cold food and drinks. Training will continue throughout the Summer months and all newcomers will be given a warm welcome. If you are interested in coming along, with your son or daughter, you can simply turn up at the Club House on Sunday morning, or pre-book with our Football For ALL Lead Coordinator, Andi Whitworth (FA Level 2 coach) on 07791 137682 (or e-mail andiwhitworth@hotmail.co.uk). The first session is FREE, and then ÂŁ3 thereafter. New Team Development - BJFF Welcomes a new Youth Team..... With our numbers constantly on the increase, and our relationships with other sporting organisations strong, we are delighted to announce that our link with Norcross and Warbreck has now spawned a new team. At BJFF we have taken on a new Youth (Under 18's) team, who will take part in the Lancashire Evening Post Sunday Youth League. Under the Management of Mark Witter and Stuart Harris, the boys (or young men) will take their first steps into Youth football, playing against teams across the length and breadth of Lancashire, and at the same time will be putting themselves in the shop window, with some
Bispham Junior Football Federation of our players being offered the opportunity to integrate into Senior Football with local West Lancashire League Clubs such as Norcross and Warbreck. If you have just left school and would like a trial with the new team, please contact Chairman Andy Griffiths in the first instance on 07884 476954 (or e-mail - agriffit@csc.com). New Team Development - Here Come The GIRLS......At BJFF we currently have two dedicated GIRLS only teams, training and playing matches in the North Valley Youth League. We currently have teams representing BJFF at Under 13's (School Years 7 and 8) and Under 15's (School Years 9 and 10). We are on the lookout for players at both age groups, and we are also currently recruiting players to start a NEW GIRLS TEAM at the Under 10's / 11's age group (current School Years 4, 5 and 6). If you are interested in joining either of the established teams, or joining us to set up a new team, training will initially be with the Under 13's Girls, separating as the Squad becomes big enough to sustain itself. Please contact Simon Walford (Mobile - (07920) 865497, or E-Mail— siwalford1965@googlemail.com) for more details. We also have 4 Year 4 and 7 Year 3 Girls currently playing in Mixed Squads, and in 12 months time we will be looking to set up a new Under 10's team and will be looking to add a few more players to the existing Girls. If you are interested please contact Andy Griffiths on 07884 476954 (or e-mail agriffit@csc.com). Club House & Facilities News.....The work to provide 2 x new mini soccer pitches is almost completed, with the area of land behind our Club House now taking shape (thanks to some well timed rain during the summer months.....!!). We are hoping the pitches will be playable after a couple of further cuts (thanks to Street Scene...!!) during September, and will be planning an official unveiling with our supportive local councillors. Fund-Raising and Social Events..... In the coming months, the Fund-Raising and Social Team will be arranging a Halloween Party for our younger children, a Christmas Party for our younger children, and an Adults Christmas Party. More information on these events and others will be published in the next article. Thank you to all of the readers who have contributed items for our Tombola and Smash the Crockery stall - and particular thanks to John Simms, who's support was pivotal in ensuring we got over 1000 pieces of crockery....... a huge thank you to John........!!! Summary..... Our website is regularly updated with up-todate information and contactdetails - see >> http:// www.clubwebsite.co.uk/bjff .If you would like to bring your child down to BJFF, or would like to get involved in coaching / fundraising / voluntary work of any kind, or you are a business who could support us with our numerous sponsorship and advertising opportunities, please do not hesitate to contact our Chairman, Andy Griffiths on 07884 476954 (e-mail - agriffit@csc.com).
