Cleveleys Beach Award

Cleveleys seas secure a 'pass' for water quality, In tests just published Cleveleys, Fleetwood and Bispham scored a pass for water quality meeting minimum European standards - the only beaches on the Fylde Coast to gain this standard.

Jubilee Beach at Cleveleys has earned a Quality Coast Award, an annual award from Keep Britain Tidy for sands which are maintained to the highest standard. Along with Marine Beach at Fleetwood, the Wyre Coastline has achieved these accolades after continued efforts by both Wyre Council and the community to clean up the beaches. It's an even sweeter award to win, when these were the only two beaches on the Fylde Coast to win the award. Blackpool Council understandably decided not to enter South Beach which won an award last year because of all the construction work currently going on there. Meanwhile, the Environment Agency have also been out putting the Fylde coastline through its paces and testing the water. The

The cake was decorated with wedding cards from the wedding of Mrs Gemma Brocklehurst who runs the art club.

Prince William Wedding Celebrations

Thornton Primary School

As you can see from the photographs, the children and staff all had a fabulous time and really got into the spirit of the day.

To celebrate the royal wedding the staff and children at Thornton Primary all dressed up as Prince William, Kate Middleton or as wedding guests for the day.

The children really enjoyed the celebrations and hope Prince William and Kate have as much fun on their wedding day and would like to wish them all the happiness in the world for their married life together.

Prior to Prince William and Kate’s wedding day, some children who attend a lunchtime art club, entered the Young Seaside’s art competition and designed a wedding cake for the royal couple.

At lunch time the school cook, Mrs Lorraine Barton, and the welfare staff set up a street party, including banners and flags, in the playground and all the children ate their party food outside in the glorious sunshine.

With so many kids to mention we published all photos so look out for yourself and well done on marking such a great occasion with celebrations of your own. You should all be so proud. Ed.

The children really enjoyed designing and making the wedding cake. The cake had two rather large tiers- the top tier had guards in their dress uniforms at each corner, along with Westminster Abbey and figures representing the bride and groom, whilst the bottom tier had congratulation cards, also designed and decorated by the children.

SAVE MONEY ? HELP THE ENVIRONMENT ? RETURN SANITY TO YOUR HOME ? For too long we have been throwing out perfectly good electrical items such as televisions, sky boxes, hi-fi equipment, computers and laptops simply because they have developed faults. Not so long ago a television would last you 10-15years and probably require a service or repair every couple of years. Not so now with televisions lasting no more than 18months. So why not SAVE YOUR MONEY and have it repaired? One problem has been the demise of many local repair companies: many did not keep up with the emerging technologies and simply went out of business. The answer is simple, contact THE ELECTRONICS WORKSHOP LTD, a local company offering the very best service to local people. Can we repair your faulty items? You will be surprised at just what we can repair. We also supply new and reconditioned televisions.. For the price of a local call RING US ON 01253 857819 or after hours on 07973293761

KMC TRADING “Kath McBride? Did you she use to work at the Yacht Shop? “ Yes, most people in the yachting world will know Kath, a prominent face for many years at the Yacht Shop, later to become a Manager at FTS Group.

Offering a wide and diverse range of products and services, including Yachting/Marine products, Rope, PPE Equipment, RYA Course Equipment, Chandlery, Flags, Tools and Giftware, FTS is the place to go.. Visit the website www.kmctrading.co.uk for more information regarding products and services provided

But back in February as most people will now know FTS Group sadly closed its doors after 99 years of serving Fleetwood and the North West of England. Not to be deterred by being made redundant, the following day Kath went out and bought office equipment, determined to set up her own business. With the help of trusted colleague, Anita Wainwright, they set to planning and contacting old FTS customers. With a lot of leg work and determination KMc Trading was born, and on the 6th of April 2011 started trading. Kath is a true inspiration to anyone thinking about starting their own business. “It is not always easy and there are many hurdles along the way, but there is plenty of help out there. It has been both scary and exiting but I am confident that we can make it work!”
