Hazel beat arthritis with collagen Sprightly septuagenarian Hazel Hallatt had always enjoyed an active lifestyle, until the onset of osteoarthritis threatened to curtail her walking, swimming, golf and yoga. “The arthritis flared up a decade ago, affecting my hands, knees and back. My mobility was restricted and I was in a lot of pain,” said Hazel, 75. “I feared my days of exercise were over.” Hazel turned to Collagen Plus, a natural collagen supplement and found an immediate and remarkable upturn. “Collagen Plus has turned my life around. I am so active, any discomfort is minimal and my doctor has been amazed by both my mobility levels and how the osteoarthritis is being managed.” • Collagen Plus is a unique 3-in-1 nutritional drink containing collagen, glucosamine and chondroitin to help rebuild and maintain joint cartilage. LINK-MAG Gardening

’m sure many of us basked in the glorious spring sunshine earlier this year, but beds, borders and pots were drying up before our eyes.

We all need to do our bit to save what water we do have. The Environment Agency advises householders not to let water run to waste while waiting for the water to get hot. Collect it and use it to water your plants. Similarly, collect the running water in your shower before getting in. Use water-retaining crystals when planting up container plants and invest in a water butt which you can put under a drainpipe or other suitable gully and re-use the water in your garden. The Royal Horticultural society has come up with 10 tips to help save water this summer.

1.

Use waste water from washing-up or rinsing vegetables for watering, as normal amounts of household soaps and detergents will not harm soil or plants.

2. Let your lawns go brown. They will recover when

the rains return. Newly sown and turfed lawns will require a lot of watering to be successful, so leave sowing or turfing until the autumn. Lawn seed companies are breeding deeper rooted grasses that hopefully will stay green for longer.

6. In sunny summers install greenhouse and

3. Vegetables need moist soils to give their

7. By grouping pots, ideally in clusters of similar size,

best. Water them at key growth stages. The response to water is especially marked when sweetcorn, peas and beans begin to flower, when the edible part of lettuces begins to form and when potatoes show flower buds, which initiate plenty of tubers. Most herbs are robust and better flavoured for a little drought. Digging in organic matter in winter can enable soils to hold enough water for crops to keep going for a month with no rain.

4. Mature trees, shrubs and climbers, hedges, fruit

trees and bushes will not need watering during a drought. However, newly planted trees, shrubs and climbers are extremely vulnerable and it is difficult to ensure the water applied at the surface works its way down to the roots. Don’t leave hoses running all night - the water will either saturate the roots and possibly kill them or it will drain deeply below the root zone. Water should always be applied over the surface so it soaks the rootball and surrounding soil.

5. Fruit may remain small if not watered, but it

should be sweet and well coloured. Cane fruit and strawberries will benefit by keeping the soil moist every two weeks. In future adding mulches in winter will help improve the soil and retain more moisture.

20

conservatory shading and ventilation to limit overheating and invest in a min-max thermometer.

watering is made easier and moisture loss reduced. Mass pots for mutual shading and use the largest pots possible. As days lengthen and the sun rises, more plants, especially large-leaved ones, can be gathered in shadier areas. A saucer beneath the pot to retain run-off helps.

8. Don’t dig new ground in summer if you can avoid

it, as digging soil allows any remaining moisture to escape. Hoe off weeds as shallowly as you can, loosen soil with a fork and ‘puddle’ plants into the soil, adding a little liquid fertiliser. Adding nutrients helps plants make the best use of what moisture there is by encouraging extensive root growth.

9. Establishing new plants in borders during dry times

can be difficult. Instead, pot them into slightly bigger pots and keep well watered and fed in light shade until the autumn planting season arrives.

10. Early summer perennials, irises for example, will

survive on moisture left in the soil from winter. Give late summer perennials such as phlox one good watering in the summer as plants begin to flower, which should be enough. In the longer term, consider planting drought-resistant species in your borders such as grasses, Mediterranean type shrubs such as thymes or phlomis, or sedums and other plants with spiky or succulent leaves.

Best of the bunch - Azalea

These acid-loving shrubs, which burst with colour in late spring and early summer, are a must if you want to brighten up dull corners - and they also look fantastic as stand-alone specimens in tubs. Azaleas, which are generally smaller, daintier versions of Rhododendrons, can be either deciduous or evergreen. I love the evergreen varieties which are low and spreading, producing sheets of flowers in May. They work wonderfully in pots and many are hardy enough to cope with frost pockets, although you have to choose carefully. Good varieties include Rhododendron ‘Blue Danube’, a compact, neat evergreen azalea which bears masses of mauve flowers, is extremely hardy and ideally placed in light shade. Another pretty specimen, which is not as robust and will need a sheltered spot, is R. ‘Gumpo White’, which grows to around one metre (three feet). If you want some bigger types, try deciduous azaleas, which can flower as prolifically as their evergreen relatives but also have fantastic foliage colour in autumn. Azaleas come in a mass of colours, from blues and pinks to reds, oranges, whites and yellows. Acid soil is essential, and they are best off in a sheltered site in partial shade. If you don’t choose one of the hardier varieties you may need to put horticultural fleece over the shrubs on nights when frost is predicted, to protect the buds.

What to do this month • Continue to water hanging baskets and

Good enough to eat - Keep peas pest-free

Sow seeds of fast-maturing annuals, spring-flowering biennials including forgetme-nots and Brompton stocks, herbs and vegetables.

Thin hardy annuals and vegetables sown in the open ground.

Disbud border carnations for larger blooms.

Cut back aubrieta and alyssum in the rock garden immediately after flowering.

Put nets on fruit cages over soft fruit to protect them from birds.

Lift bulbs which flowered in spring as their foliage dies away. Dry the bulbs well and check for damage before storing.

Plant out arum lilies (Zantedeschia aethiopica) which have been flowering in the greenhouse, or stand the pots outdoors for their summer rest.

If you didn’t put slow-release feed granules in with your container compost, apply a liquid feed on a weekly basis to flowering annuals in pots.

Plant out young dahlias when all danger of frost has passed.

Thin heavy crops of plums so that fruit size is maintained and the branches are not put under excessive strain.

If your peas are in flower now, they are at risk from pea moth, which lays its eggs on pea flowers in June and July. You won’t notice them until you open the pods to start shelling your peas and find that one or more of them have been attacked by a small white grub, which is usually still inside the pod. To avoid pea moth, make early sowings of peas which flower in May and early June, or later sowings which flower after July. Alternatively, grow mangetout, which is picked before the peas have developed. Pea and bean weevils can also be a problem earlier on in spring, nibbling notches out of young leaves, however they don’t generally cause serious harm and will not need controlling. If you have gaps in your rows of peas it may be due to mice. Start peas off in pots or sow extra seeds to fill the gaps later.

Three ways to... be imaginative with climbers 1. Use an old garden umbrella, stripped of fabric, for a

small containers every day.

2. Erect tall poles every six feet (1.8m) or so along the

garden fence, attaching thick rope between them to form elegant sways. Plant rambling roses, Jasminum officinale, honeysuckle and Clematis montana at the base of poles, guiding them up and along the swags to create swathes of colour.

3. Use climbers to scramble over uninteresting shrubs in the border - clematis will happily climb conifers and other evergreens, creating colour. Use late-flowering viticellas with spring-flowering shrubs and earlyflowering alpinas and macropetalas with later-flowering ones. Sweet peas can also be used for scrambling over shrubs.

lackpool Council has launched a new training programme called ‘GetSet’ to help young adults in Blackpool and the Fylde Coast to potentially kick-start their own business. GetSet Blackpool is a six session programme provided FREE to 18-25 year olds. The initiative is specifically designed to inform young people about self-employment, starting a business and improving employability skills. The courses, designed and delivered by Lancashire based Geminus Training, include fun and interactive workshops that will also develop additional skills such as communication, creativity and presenting. Cllr Mark Smith, Cabinet Member for Regeneration, Enterprise and Economic Development, said ‘We really want to encourage young people who perhaps are the budding entrepreneurs of the future. This programme is a great source of information and support which will help anyone in this age group understand business basics before making career choices. It is important that young adults understand that self-employment could be a real choice for them and an option to pursue in their life and for career development.’

that mould. Blackpool has so many amazingly creative young people who have great talent and potential, and GetSet Blackpool will help them to see if their skill and passion can help them to start a business and if selfemployment can be a viable career path.’

Nick Roach, director of Geminus Training added ‘Young people new to business can find business training intimidating and overwhelming - we want to break

SKODA Karoq by Rob Auchterlonie

A

nostalgic moment the other week as the all-new Skoda Karoq had me wistfully recalling my late father-in-law’s Mk1 Escort

1100.

Not by any way, shape or form for comparison purposes obviously, both being as far apart as our friend in North Korea is from reality, but merely because Skoda have brought back to mainstream car production a colour I last saw on said Ford in the last century. 26

What I should have been comparing was the resemblance of the new Czech to the SEAT Ateca sitting alongside it on my drive. Both roll out of the same factory at Kvasiny, both use the VW Group MQB platform and while the lines and look are similar, there are things that differentiate the two. Let’s start with the engine. Ateca has the 1.4 EcoTSi engine producing 150ps and 250Nm, while the Karoq uses the latest 1.5 TSI which produces 150ps and 250Nm….

helps add to the overall refinement experience. It comes with Drive Mode Select which alters the powertrain and steering response between Eco, Normal and Sport, and in 1.5 litre guise the engine has cylinder deactivation technology which should help with the fuel bill – the combined figure is quoted at 51.4mpg with a CO2 figure of 125g/km. Most models in the range are two wheel drive, but you can have a four wheel drive system with the 2.0 diesel engine.

FASTFACTS:

Skoda Karoq SE L; £24,515; 1498cc TSI, 150ps, 250Nm; six speed manual gearbox; top speed 126mph, 0-62mph 8.4secs; fuel – urban 42.8, extra urban 58.9, combined 51.4.

Err, let’s move on. Pricewise the SEAT entry point is lower, but comparing like for like (1.5 SE L DSG Karoq v 1.4 SE Technology DSG Ateca) the Skoda is a couple of hundred pounds more, so again little difference. There are four trim levels to pick from – SE, SE Technology, SE L and Edition, whereas SEAT offer 28

five for Ateca. So, very similar, but a few differences show up out on the road, where the Karoq offers up a slightly softer and more family friendly ride alongside comparable performance, though the engine has a slightly rougher and more audible edge to it when pressing on. Body roll is kept well under control which

There are similarities too inside but the Skoda racks up envy points with its smart eight inch piano black touchscreen that integrates all the buttons, where the Ateca has actual buttons down either side. Otherwise it’s a win for the Ateca, which has a classier look, though you might think different of course. You’ll find lots of neat Skoda touches, like the ice scraper in the fuel filler flap, the removable rechargeable torch in the boot, and pop up tables on the backs of the front seats which can be locked at 45 degrees and are thus ideal of youngsters to rest their ipads on. Karoq is a replacement for the highly popular Yeti in Skoda’s range, and should appeal to a wider range of customers, not least because it brims with up to date technology. SE L trim sampled here comes with Alcantara upholstery, reversing camera, front and rear parking sensors, heated front seats18 inch alloys, automatic headlight control and the adjustable Varioflex rear seats for a bit more practicality. And if the 1.5 is not swift enough for you and you don’t mind waiting, there are rumours of a vRS version in the future. FOR: Manageable running costs, solid residuals AGAINST: Badge snobbery in a crowded marketplace

Money matters with Martin Lewis

Are you eligible for a refund?

R

efund, refund, refund, (refund, refund). No I’m not stuck on repeat, I’m trying to hammer home that people are owed hundreds of millions of pounds that they’re just not claiming – most of which can be done with just a quick click or phone call. Here’s what you need to do…

of Attorney (which includes 0.5% interest). To claim a refund go to www.gov. uk/power-of-attorney-refund or call the Office of the Public Guardian’s on 0300 456 0300 and select option six. You’ll need details (including bank details) of the person who it was set up for and the name of one of the attorneys.

1. Over 1 million are owed a refund on Power of Attorney registration fees

I’m swamped with people telling me how easy it is, like Barbara who tweeted me: “@MartinSLewis Thanks to you, I have £75.42 back. How else would I have known about this?”

A Lasting Power of Attorney is a legal document which allows you, while you still have the mental capacity to do so, to nominate a trusted friend or relative to look after your affairs if you lose capacity. And they’re not just for the elderly, I have one, I’m 45. For more on how to do it cheaply go to http://mse.me/poa. Yet if you’ve already got one, and did it between 1 April 2013 and 31 March 2017 in England and Wales, you paid £110, which is more than it should’ve been, so if you did that you’re owed up to £54 per Power 34

2. Are you married? If so, you may be due a free £900 Three years ago, the Government launched the marriage (and civil partnerships) tax allowance. It applies where one is a basic-rate taxpayer and the other a nontaxpayer. The non-taxpayer can apply to have 10% (£1,190) of their tax-free allowance shifted to the taxpayer. This means £1,190 of income they

were taxed on at 20% is now taxfree – a £238 gain this year done via altering your tax code. Yet still over 1 million eligible couples are missing out. And you can back claim a refund to when it started too, so that’s a cheque for £662 – making a total of £900. It takes five minutes to do at www. gov.uk/marriage-allowance/howto-apply – it’s the non-taxpayer who must apply. As Michelle who tweeted: “@ MartinSLewis just applied for the marriage tax allowance and it took 2 mins to get over £600. #thankyou.”

3. Reclaim overpaid energy

With winter long gone this is the perfect time for those who pay energy by monthly direct debit, which is the vast majority, to check if you’ve got too much credit. This is because energy firms estimate your usage, and then bill you based on their estimates. If those are set too high you can end up overpaying. Only do this if you’ve been providing regular meter readings, or have a smart meter doing it for you.

ADVERTISE - Book Online www.link-mag.co.uk 0800 970 7687 or sales@link-mag.co.uk

Martin Lewis

If not, send them a meter reading. Assuming all is up to date go online or call up to check whether you are in credit and if so how much.

the April after graduation – often around nine months after leaving, and even then only if you earn over a set threshold.

Direct debits are meant to smooth out your usage over the year so normally you’re in surplus going into winter and in deficit after. So right now if your credit is more than a month’s worth of bills, ask them for the amount over that back – it can be £100s, and ask them to lower the direct debit going forward.

However, if your employer has the wrong info about your uni leaving date, or simply does it wrong you may start repaying early. To check and get it back is easy. Just call the Student Loan Company on 0300 100 0611 and ask it.

If you’ve switched providers you should’ve been credited with any excess then, yet they didn’t used to, so check now even if it was years ago, as Aston emailed: “Eight minutes work calling my old energy suppliers, got £140 refunded after leaving in credit. Why don’t more people do this?”

4. Graduated uni? You may be due £100s back

In the last three years alone, over 100,000 university leavers started to repay their loans too early, and are due some of it back. Plus as this could go all the way back to 1998 it’s likely there are 100,000s more. You are only eligible to start repaying your student loan in

It takes five minutes and I’ve had tons of successes like Tom who tweeted: “Thank you @ MartinSLewis 5 minute phone call to Student Loans Company and got £315 back from paying too early in 2009”. And that’s only one category of student loan overpayment, there are other reasons to, to check see my full www.mse.me/ studentloanoverpayments guide.

5. Get a tax rebate if you wear a uniform

If you wear a recognisable uniform to work, even if it’s just a branded t-shirt, and you wash it yourself, you may be able to reclaim hundreds of pounds of tax back, like Jackie who tweeted: “@MartinSLewis we got

a £250 cheque today after writing to the HMRC about a uniform tax rebate for my husband! Thank you!” The amount you get varies from £12 to £74 a year depending on your tax rate and the industry you work in, plus you can go back four years in total, so this can be £100s for some. And you don’t need to pay anyone to do this, just fill out the P87 claim form at www.gov.uk/guidance/ claim-income-tax-relief-for-youremployment-expenses-p87. Once you’ve registered, your tax code will change, so you’ll be taxed less in the future. Full help at www. mse.me/uniform.

undreds took part in bubble fun for children’s hospice in April, Blackpool was awash with vibrant colours as hundreds of people took part in the second Bubble Rush in aid of Brian House Children’s Hospice. The event on Saturday 14th April saw around 1,500 people power through four bubble stations blasting frothy bubbles from highpowered cannons along a 5km route on Lawsons Showground. Organisers say the event raised £50,000 for the charity on Low Moor Road, Bispham, which supports children with life-limiting conditions and their families through support and respite care. Head of Fundraising Linzi Young said ‘We are so pleased that the sun chose to shine over our event after what has been a rather wet few weeks. It certainly helped many hundreds of supporters who have had a fantastic time getting in amongst the bubbles all for Brian House. Everyone looked so happy as they went through the bubble stations and the whole event was just lots of fun. We are thrilled at how much has already been raised, and money is still coming in through sponsorship. We’re so grateful to every single person who took part and helped to raise this incredible sum; they’ve helped us to make a difference to 80 families on the Fylde Coast who use our service. A huge 36

Good clean fundraising thank you as well to everyone who volunteered their time to help at this really fantastic event.’ Anyone who has raised more than £100 in sponsorship will be in with a chance of winning an Annual Gold Family Pass to the Sandcastle Waterpark worth up to £400. The prize draw took place on May 31st, with the winner yet to be picked at the time of our going to publication. The next event being organised by the fundraising team at Trinity Hospice is the fourth annual ‘Colour Splash Paint Run’ on the beach from Starr Gate to St Annes on Sunday 10th June. A most eggscellent adventure

A

special event to raise money ahead of a mammoth bike ride has raised more than £2,700 for Brian House Children’s Hospice. Trinity Hospice Staff Nurses Kirsty Jones and Nicola Lewis, together with Kirsty’s friend Linzie McCaslin are set to take part in a gruelling five-day trek from London to Paris on two wheels in September for Brian House. Each must raise minimum sponsorship to be able to take part in the trek, and their targets were smashed with an ‘Eggstraveganza’ event held over Easter at Trinity’s Day Therapy Unit, that included a whole host of fun, games and entertainment. Kirsty said ‘We’re so pleased with how the day went and how much money was raised for our bike ride. Now that we’ve met our targets, we just want to raise as much money as possible for Brian House.’ Mum of two Kirsty decided to take part in the London to Paris Bike Ride, which takes place in September, as a celebration of turning 40. It will be her first major bike ride, and she says she is looking forward to the adventure.

Linzi McCaslin, Nicola Lewis and Kirsty Jones

She added ‘Linzie ran a marathon when she was turning 40 and said she would do the bike ride with me to celebrate her 50th. This will be just one of four challenges this year for Nicola, as she is walking from coast to coast, doing a Greenland trek and will take part in Trinity’s China Trek after completing the bike ride with us. It’s great to be part of so much money being raised for Trinity and Brian House.’ The group is also planning to hold stands in local supermarkets and carry out bag packs to boost their fundraising. n July 2018 long-time friends and local business partners Andy Shields & Gordon Taylor will be embarking on the Mongol Rally 2018, aiming to raise over £2,000 for Blackpool Trinity Hospice. The Mongol Rally is a 4 week 10,000 mile mega-drive across mountains, desert and steppe, from London through the Mongolian desert to the Russian town of Ulan-Ude. There’s no backup, no support and no set route just the participants and thier wits (hopefully) in a 30 year old, 1-litre Suzuki SJ purchased for less than £1,000. This is no small feat as neither Andy nor Gordon have any experience of car mechanics or driving in the desert – in fact, up until a month ago, Gordon hadn’t driven a car for over 10 years - but when it’s for a good cause the sheer effort and mild peril is worth it. The team aims to raise £2,000 (or more) for Blackpool Trinity Hospice. Like many fellow Blackpool locals, Andy has sadly seen many friends and family pass through Blackpool Trinity Hospice over the years. Most recently was his Auntie Jean who lost a 12-month battle with cancer in October last year. The service, love and care provided by the hospice during this time was second to none - and

Primary School in Thornton, where Kirsty’s daughter, Hannah, 10, is a pupil, will hold a non-school uniform day. to help raise funds You can support Kirsty, Linzie and Nicky by making a donation at www.justgiving. com/fundraising/kirstyjones58. Places are still available for the bike ride, which leaves London on Tuesday 18th September. For infoand to sign up, visit www. trinityhospice.co.uk/events/ paris2018.

Pets and pollen

How to help protect your pets from allergies

P

ets can suffer from pollen allergies just like humans, causing irritation and misery during the summer months. But if you know what to look out for you can help to manage their symptoms and reduce any suffering.

Here are some of the signs of pollen allergy in pets: • Licking or biting their paws • Excessive scratching • Redness of the skin,

especially around the eyes and ears and in between their toes • Shaking their head • Rubbing their ears or muzzle • Tiredness or lethargy, particularly on days when the pollen count is high PDSA Vet Olivia AndersonNathan explains ‘The signs of

a pollen allergy in pets are a little different than they are with humans. If you spot any of the signs above then it’s important to visit your vet in the first instance, as some of these can be signs of other illnesses too.’ If your pet is diagnosed with an allergy to pollen. Your vet may recommend some medication to help reduce or manage their symptoms during the summer months. Never give medication or home remedies to your pet without checking with your vet first — some medicines can be dangerous in the wrong doses, or for certain species. There are also things that you can do yourself to help reduce the effects of pollen allergies. Obviously you can’t keep your dog indoors for months on end — they will still need their regular walkies! So what can you do during those months your pet is affected by allergies?

• •

pet is most affected by and avoid areas and times where they are prevalent. -Try to walk your dog at times of the day with a lower pollen count. This is usually before dawn, late afternoon and early evening, though these times will vary depending on the weather. Avoid letting your dog roll in the grass. This can leave their fur covered in pollen, causing hours or even days of misery. Wipe their paws and muzzle after every walk. Sensitive baby wipes are ideal for this, or you can use special wipes designed for pets. If your dog is particularly sensitive your vet may advise rinsing them with water, or even shampoo, after walks. Keep up with the grooming. A really good daily brushing and regular trims can help to remove pollen that might be clinging to their fur. Wash them weekly. Increasing to weekly baths can help to get rid of any lingering pollen — a specialist hypo-allergenic pet shampoo from your vet is ideal and will have anti-bacterial ingredients to help avoid skin infections Wash their bedding weekly. Also hoover their favourite places regularly, otherwise your dog will end up covered in pollen again after every sleep! A skin supplement or oil added to your pet’s food may help to improve the strength of their skin `barrier’ to pollen, and reduce symptoms of the allergy. Ask your vet about what is best for your pet, as their needs can very different from humans! Thankfully, with some advice from your vet and by taking precautions, you can help to alleviate much of the suffering your pet might be experiencing due to pollen allergies.

Not with a whimper but a chitty chitty bang

T

o celebrate 50 years of one of the world’s favourite films ‘Chitty Chitty Bang Bang’ the musical will be coming to Blackpool with a promise to have audiences of all ages flying high with its mixture of madness, intrigue and exuberance. The musical is being brought to Blackpool’s Grand Theatre by the ‘Blackpool & Fylde Light Opera Company’ who have had huge success with productions of Grease, Legally Blonde, Hairspray and Sister Act and have received incredible reviews and awards for their productions of some of the world’s best musicals. Chitty Chitty Bang Bang will take you on a fantastic musical adventure with an out of this world car that flies through the air and sails the seas. Based on the beloved 1968 film adaptation of Ian Fleming’s children’s book and featuring an unforgettable score by the Sherman Brothers (Mary Poppins), Chitty Chitty Bang Bang is one family-friendly blockbuster that audiences will find ‘Truly Scrumptious.’ Can Caractacus Potts, the loveable but whacky inventor along with his two children and the gorgeous Miss Truly Scrumptious outwit the bombastic Baron Bomburst who has decreed that all children be banished from his kingdom? What happens when the children are caught and imprisoned with the other youngsters by the evil Child Catcher? Will it all end ‘happily ever after?’. Filled with amazing stage spectacles and unforgettable songs, including the Academy Award-nominated title song ‘Chitty Chitty Bang Bang’ this is a high-flying, fun filled adventure for the entire family. Phil Chapman, Chair of Blackpool and Fylde Light Opera Company said ‘When we were granted one of the very few licenses for the UK we jumped at it! It will be an honour for us as a company to perform some of the most iconic songs of our childhood. Add to this performing in such a venue as Blackpool’s Grand, this is going to be an incredible feather in our cap. We hope you will join us, this is defiantly a great show for the family’. Chitty Chitty Bang Bang is a 1968 British musical adventure fantasy film, directed by Ken Hughes and

written by Roald Dahl and Hughes, loosely based on Ian Fleming’s 1964 novel ‘Chitty Chitty Bang Bang: The Magical Car’. The film was produced by Albert R. Broccoli, the regular co-producer of the James Bond series of films. John Stears supervised the special effects. Irwin Kostal supervised and conducted the music, while the musical numbers, written by Richard M. and Robert B. Sherman of Mary Poppins, were staged by Marc Breaux and Dee Dee Wood. The hit film stars Dick Van Dyke, Sally Ann Howes, Adrian Hall, Heather Ripley, Lionel Jeffries, James Robertson Justice, Robert Helpmann and Gert Fröbe. Andrew Howard, Marketing Manager of the Grand Theatre said ‘We’re delighted for Blackpool & Fylde Light Opera Company, each year they never disappoint, three incredible shows are to be presented with us over the next two years. This year Me and My Girl in May, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang in September, and in 2019 42nd Street, they just never stop, and good on them! We can wait to see Chitty Chitty Bang Bang and we know our audiences won’t want to miss this one!’ Chitty Chitty Bang Bang will play Tuesday 25th to Saturday 29th September 2018, Evenings 7:30pm, Matinees (Thu and Sat) 2pm.
