Thank you! Thank you for coming to the fifth ‘NEVFEST’ in Sunderland. It is a pleasure to welcome you to the event. If you are wanting many of the products featured today on an ongoing basis, be sure to pop into our VEGAN STORE at 71 Clayton St, Newcastle upon Tyne, NE1 5PY anytime 10am to 6pm Monday to Saturday. We are also launching today our TALKTOMEIMVEGAN campaign in the North East to encourage more conversations to happen about the benefits to the planet and health of veganism as well as the moral case for no animals to die for our choices. We have a feedback form on www.northeastvegfanfestival.com – please take a moment to fill it in and help us keep improving the feastival. If you enjoyed today, be sure to come along to our METRO ARENA NEVFEST6 on 10 July featuring ECOFESTUK as well as lots of great stalls. I would also like to thank our lovely sponsors, stall holders, speakers, musicians and volunteers – without them, this event would not have been possible. Thank you so much and see you next time

THIRD FLOOR ACTIVITIES Riverview Brasserie – Craft Fair and Other Stalls Make sure you make the trip up to the third floor. We have a CRAFT FAIR hall with lots of great stalls. As well as this, on the third floor, there are 3 rooms in a row with the following activities on the third floor – Carling Lounge – Controversial Vegan Photography Described by the editor of Vegan Life Magazine as ‘fearless and provocative’, we are delighted to welcome Heidi Mary Porter of www.fbianimals. com – controversial, challenging photographs and a first children’s book designed to show the reality of animal exploitation, Heidi is a childminder by day, vegan activist the rest of the time. She will lead a discussion on her campaign work at 12.30pm and have signed copies of her first book THE FUR TRADE with her. Please note due to the graphic images and nudity, this exhibition and room are adults only. Drumaville Suite – Film Room 11am– Vegucated Part sociological experiment and part adventure comedy, Vegucated follows three meat- and cheese-loving New Yorkers who agree to adopt a vegan diet for six weeks. Lured by tales of weight lost and health regained, they begin to uncover the hidden sides of animal agriculture that make them wonder whether solutions offered in films like Food, Inc. go far enough. This entertaining documentary showcases the rapid and at times comedic evolution of three people who discover they can change the world one bite at a time. 12.30pm– Live and Let Live Six people who have switched to veganism, including former butchers and factory farmers, share their stories to examine the relationship between animals and people.

2pm - Cowspiracy Cowspiracy: The Sustainability Secret is a groundbreaking feature-length environmental documentary following intrepid filmmaker Kip Andersen as he uncovers the most destructive industry facing the planet today – and investigates why the world’s leading environmental organisations are too afraid to talk about it. Animal agriculture is the leading cause of deforestation, water consumption and pollution, is responsible for more greenhouse gases than the transportation industry, and is a primary driver of rainforest destruction, species extinction, habitat loss, topsoil erosion, ocean “dead zones,” and virtually every other environmental ill. Yet it goes on, almost entirely unchallenged. James Herriot Suite 11.45 Shut your Trap! A nice video about a nasty subject, starring Bill Oddy, uncovering the hidden trapping of wildlife by local gamekeepers. Find out about what to look for, what can be done and about joining the big protest this August shutyertrap2016@gmail.com 12.30pm Sports and Veganism by Margarita Grigoriadi 1pm Being Compassionate by Sharon Bull – author of A COMPASSIONATE VOICE book, Sharon will be speaking about compassion and choosing a path in life without hostility. 1.45pm Cooking Demo Authentic Indian cuisine made easy with The Tasty Vegan Food Company, presented by Pal Kaur. Tadka dhal with rice pulao & baingan bartha (aubergine). 2.30pm Vegan Approach Workshop Are you thinking of going vegan? Have you tried being vegan before but come across some challenges? Are you a new vegan? If the answer is yes to any of these questions, then this is the workshop for you. 10 simple steps to start you on your vegan journey will be talked through including what to buy, where to eat, and how to deal with family and friends. 3.30 Inglorious Basterds Let’s get together to plan some opposition to the mass slaughter of game birds, wildlife and habitat that begins on the Inglorious 12th August. Video and discussion about developing peaceful protest in the region and how and why you should get involved. If you care, be there. inglorious2016@gmail.com

TALK TO ME I’M VEGAN is a new campaign from FARPLACE ANIMAL RESCUE You can buy T shirts at cost and sign up to be an AMBASSADOR. Everyone can do it – as vegan outreach can be as little as a simple ‘talk to a few friends about why you are vegan’ right through to running your own campaigns. The TALK TO ME I’M VEGAN approach encourages a kind and gentle approach, without shying away from the simple belief that animals have a right not to die for our palate.

Check out www.talktomeimvegan.com and sign up today – we would love to hear from you. DOGWHALE.COM

Finally... A VEGAN alternative to Baileys liqueur... DAIRY / LACTOSE / GLUTEN & NUT FREE.

BESOS DE ORO TWO GREAT FLAVOURS OF SPAIN: A DELICIOUS BLEND OF SOFT BRANDY FROM JEREZ & CONCENTRATED HORCHATA DE CHUFAS FROM VALENCIA The chufa is grown in the rich soil of Valencia, Spain. This mineral and vitamin rich tuber is then dried in the scorching sun, before it is added to a little sugar and water, then boiled to make a milky like drink, known as Horchata…one of Spains favourite drinks - always served cold. We have concentrated this delicious drink and harmoniously blended it with a soft brandy from Jerez. THE RESULT...A superb liqueur that does not contain dairy, lactose, gluten or nut, yet tastes fantastic!
