Cowman’s Famous Sausage Shop in Clitheroe has made a huge sausage display depicting a bike commemorating Stage 2 of the 2015 Aviva Tour of Britain, which took place in September.
aged 12, before taking over the business from his dad, Ted, in 1982. Ted was ahead of his time, having given up “rubbish and left-over meat scraps” for quality meat, and Cliff has continued this tradition, creating award-winning sausages from great ingredients.
Tens of thousands of spectators look descended on Ribble Valley and Pendle for the event, which saw the world’s top cyclists, including Sir Bradley Wiggins and Mark Cavendish, power through the two boroughs on a tough 162km route from Clitheroe to Colne.

The School Hall, originally a Church of England primary school, has been modernised to provide an adaptable and comfortable facility, which is ideal for parties, meetings, christenings and events which require more compact accommodation than a village hall. Inside there is a meeting room with good lighting and heating, which leads through to a smaller room overlooking fields. It has a kitchen complete with range cooker, toilets, ample car parking, projection facilities and a garden. The maximum capacity of the Hall is about 80 people. The Old School Hall is easily accessible from Whalley, Clitheroe, Ribchester and Preston. 24 Hire cost and conditions: Hire sessions are split into mornings, afternoons and/or evenings. Cost per session is as follows; • £35.00 to Church membership and villagers, • £40.00 otherwise, • £50.00 to professional bodies A deposit of £25.00 will be required when booking, payable by cheque to ‘St Johns Old School Charity’ The deposit will be additional to the above fees and will be returned only if the hall is left clean, tidy and undamaged, otherwise it will be retained to offset the

A flurry of first-rate art galleries and exhibition spaces have opened in the area in recent years and the Ribble Valley is also home to some outstanding public art projects, such as the Clitheroe Castle Labyrinth and Ribble Valley Sculpture Trail. At 300 square miles, most of which is in the Forest of Bowland Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, the Ribble Valley offers peaceful and panoramic views as well as plenty of inspiration for creative minds and art enthusiasts. The Ribble Valley Arts Trail is putting visual arts in the Ribble Valley on the map and it is hoped the trail will expand in the future to include other art forms and exhibition spaces.

Cover the heart of the Ribble Valley, with the Forest of Bowland AONB on our doorstep, both east and west! The Yorkshire Dales, Arnside and Silverdale and the Pennines are all only a short distance away and are frequently visited. Clitheroe Ramblers are a very active and friendly Group, have over 250 members, over 120 walks per year and are fortunate in having nearly 50 leaders. We are always delighted to welcome new members. One of over 350 voluntary groups situated throughout the UK. Our goal is to provide support and educate people living with diabetes, as well as their family, friends and anyone else who is interested in knowing more about diabetes. Music ranges from the seventeenth century, right up to 2015. Tiered seating ensures a perfect view. Entrance is £15 but includes a free programme booklet about the musicians and the music. Joining the Society gives tickets for all the six winter concerts at a very substantial reduction in cost.
