DOMUS VENTILATION MVHR SYSTEMS PROVE IDEAL RETROFIT SOLUTION FOR LONDON RENTAL DEVELOPMENT Domus Ventilation’s HRXE-HERA® Mechanical Ventilation with Heat Recovery (MVHR) systems have been specified for the be:here Hayes build-to-rent residential development in West London. When the building was designed, Domus Ventilation’s Silavent MVHR ceiling mounted units were installed. These are now being gradually replaced with Domus Ventilation’s latest MVHR model, HRXE-HERA®. As a retrofit solution, HRXE-HERA® has proven ideal for be:here Hayes as they readily use the existing Domus ducting. Domus Ventilation’s HRXE-HERA® MVHR have proved an ideal solution. It filters and pre-warms fresh air drawn into the apartment using the heat from waste stale air extracted from the kitchen and bathroom using a heat exchanger. It’s advanced heat exchange proficiency enables up to 95% of waste heat to be recovered. It comes with 100% thermal (summer) bypass which automatically activates when the air temperature reaches a pre-set level, allowing in cooler, fresh, filtered air without warming it through the heat exchanger. The smart design of the HRXE means there is no reduction in airflow when operating in bypass mode. www.domusventilation.co.uk

024 ATB HEATING CONTROLS: A PATH TO ENERGY SAVINGS Effective heating controls are an ever more vital part of an efficient central-heating system. And heating controls manufacturer ESi says it makes huge sense to look more closely at heating control selection. Clever use of controls can help minimise energy consumption by ensuring each room is at the right temperature for comfort, while avoiding overheating. The selection of programmers and timers available today are many and varied and range from the simple to the far more complex. ESi is typical in that it offers a range of programmers from a simple 1 Channel version to a 3 channel Multi-Purpose Programmer which enables the installer to comply with Part L of the Building Regulations by providing separate timed heating control for living and sleeping zones in a home, whilst also providing timed control of hot water. However, the ESi range all offer 24 Hour / 5/2 day and 7 day programming options for each channel. ESi provides a range of programmable room thermostats – both hard wired and wireless models. A seven-day timer makes it possible to set a different heating pattern for each day while 5/2 programming offers different options for weekdays and weekends. ESi’s ESRTP4 model provides true 7 day, 5/2 day or 24-hour programming options, with up to six time and temperature events being available each day and is OpenTherm compatible. www.esicontrols.co.uk
