IATA Air Shipper Training

To ship hazardous materials by air with most major carriers, including FedEx and UPS, shippers must comply with stringent requirements found in the International Air Transport Association Dangerous Goods Regulations (IATA DGR).

IATA requires all “hazmat employees” to complete training once every 24 months (IATA DGR 1.5).

IMDG Vessel Shipper Training

Hazmat vessel shippers must ensure compliance with modal-specific rules found in the International Maritime Dangerous Goods Code (IMDG Code).

The IMDG Code requires training every three years for hazmat employees involved in preparing shipments for transportation by vessel (IMDG Code 1.3.1).

Washington Dangerous Waste

One variation from the Federal regulations is easy to spot right away for generators in Washington—the state refers to regulated wastes as “dangerous wastes.” The differences don’t end there.
