/ PREFACE I look, I take, I apply. I like failing because it makes me do more then I eventually set up to do, imperfections are a part of nature, and me, that’s the only way to grow. To know that you are less than you can be, and that’s who you can be is always less than nature, brings me a certain peacefulness I work through, even in the thoughts times, I don’t break, I can determine I have failed, but I will start over, peacefully. This year has been no less than amazing, a lot of projects, many different classes, teachers, approaches. My head is filled with ideas, with my instructors inspiring word. I feel proud to present this book to you, the reader, and show you, what my past year was all about. From book jacket design, my own curated zine, a typeface, applications, dvd packaging, posters, collage, I did it all, I loved it all, I’m at peace, I gave it all I had in me, enjoy.

HOMILIA / TYPEFACE DESIGN
The structure of this typeface is loosely inspired by ancient Greek architecture and Arabic caligraphy. The main structure of the typeface is overly condensed, suited best for display purposes, but designed with large scale format in mind. Special characters display elongated descenders and accented spurs, mimicking the drama of post and lintel Greek architecture. “Homilia” translates to “speech” in ancient Greek.

Brand identity actualized by the given assignment to produce a company related to a chosen classmates’ interests. In this case, a clothing company Kita Mori, translating into North Forest. The company is inspired by a current trend in Japanese apparel, Mori Girl, meaning forest girl. The brand feels natural and rustic. hinting at the ethereal mood of being in the forest. MASSIMO VIGNELLI / ZINE.
1.4 Zine exploration dealing with five essential typefaces for every modern designer’s repertoire. Typefaces chosen are Helvetica, Futura, Times New Roman, Century, and Bodoni. The structure for the zine is based on Massimo Vignelli’s famous unigrid, and investigates the history behind the assigned typefaces by combining visual typographic exploration with the relevant research.

to mimic the form and movement of five assigned contemporary choreographers. Relevant research conveyed the different styles of the famous five, and helped to differentiate the breaks in movement each cover display. The complimentary posters were designed after the book covers, announcing the event of the choreographers collaborative exhibition. What started off as a series of free-hand Ink exercise soon transformed into digitalis material that was meant to represent the feeling of movement and dance.

JUDITH WILDE / POETRY BOOK Judith Wilde had honored us with a chance to design her newest poetry book. Using 5 poems, we each designed our own version of the book. The idea of a Tibetan chanting scroll came to me when I listened to her reading, she was singing, chanting-- so relaxed, peaceful. Her poems are about nature and our connection to it, our relationship with life and death and the everyday, Judith is chanting her life. I created 5 scrolls, printed on genuine long-fibered rice paper, fixed by two dark bamboo sticks. Each of the poems is decorated with Tibetan chanting notation symbols, showing the reader how to pace the readying, where to stop, where the emphasis is and when fluidity is necessary.

to hold a poem, to touch it, to breath along with it. a tibetan chanting scroll was the perfect match for judith, she chants when she speak, she shares her peaceful melody with the ones around her, she paces, and poses. the idea of the scroll came to me when i was readying judith’s poems to myself, then, i repeated the name of the collection “geology of time”... time had to mean something. “how will i make time mean something?” i thought to myself, it was obvious: by creating an obstruction. the concept is, that with a scroll, you must be gentle, you must start from the start and end with the end, time will go by through your rolling hands, through the pressure you’ll inflict on the polls, time will go by when you gently open each band, it will go by when you pick up each scroll, like it is the most precious thing on earth. geology of time, for me, was how judith interact with nature, slowly, peacefully, with respect for time.

The Icebrkr app was designed to bring back romance to our on-line generation.
ICEBRKR/ IPHONE APP
We are so occupied with online dating, that we forget how satisfying it is to come say hello to someone on the train, in the park, or at the bar. In a generation where “quicky” and “selfie” are common slang, Icebrkr was designed to help people start talking to each other, off-line. Icebrkr lets you know who’s available around you, that suit your age group and interests and tells you a few minor things about what they would like to talk about. If they are looking for someone like you, and you are looking for some like you, and you are looking for some like them, you can find each other, and have something to break the ice!

P.A.S.S Stands for Poor Art Students Society. It was the first iPhone application I ever designed and probably the most meaningful one. I felt I needed to design a concept for a place student could help each other. As an art student, I always had a need for cheap bites around the city, second hand art supply, forums to talk about projects, people who would love to collaborate on cool off-time projects etc. on the other hand I had a lot I wanted to give. I created a siber space student around new work could benefit each other, save money, and get even more creative. By using ideas like “Art Feed- Where artists from different schools could share their work I aimed to build a place where student can not only save money, find work or give away, they can also get critiques from everyone around NYC, and get better even after school hours.

SOCHI/ IPAD APP
2.3 We were assigned to design our version of an application for the Sochi Winter Olympics. My concept was simple: beautiful and helpful. Not only can the user stay updated with game scores, times and medals, they can also use the app for educational purposes, learn about their selected sports, read about how scoring works, about equipment and famous athletes. Moreover, the app was designed to be fully personalized, where the user can choose exactly which sports, athletes or teams he would like to view, get updates and all other information.

What does Marinara sauce, Olive Oil and Honey have in common? The answer is “Nothing”. And that’s exactly what I thought going into this wonderful, challenging packaging project. From picking out the perfect jars, to designing a logo and typographic treatment to encompass the different condiments names- I did it all. The logo, even though might look like the letter Q in English, Prounced as S in the Greek alphabet, and tie us to the series’ origins, Greece. Using the minimal design elements and typography, I wished to connect the prestige of Greek extra virgin Olive oil, Raw Honey and Fresh Marinara source with the contemporary packaging trend, Simple, Attractive.

DE CECCO / PASTA PACKAGING REDESIGN.
126
3.2
Created for Louise Fili’s food packaging class. The Assignment: Redesign the packaging for De Cecco, a brand of pasta. I decided to do a different take on the entire feeling of the brand. Italian design is inventive, ground breaking and simple. By using black instead of blue I tried to separate De Cecco from all the other brands on the pasta shelf, give it not only a twist, but boldness to go along with the famous name and quality. I rearranged the layout of the information in a more legible way, and gave it a contemporary look using Din as a main typeface. The Idea of using a script for the product name was a move to still connect the pasta, a beautiful, once man-made simple product with the bold design. The last move was to make the number huge, almost too big to notice, if you look for it, you will find it, but if you don’t, it’s just another design element - Designed for the Italians - Bold but exciting.

I think, I look, I absorb. I’m a tiny spec in the universe, though it is the biggest part of me. We are made of the same material, though it is never in my reach. To accept the nothingness of ourselves is the only way to be something. The universe makes sure i always remember there’s something bigger then me, something more to learn. I’m a tiny spec in the universe, though it is the biggest part of me.

4.2 We were assigned by Richard,to create a personal “Visual diary”. Using 31 blank spaces, starting with the first day of the month. We needed to figure out how to transmit our feelings or activities of every day in an artistic and memorable way, using any medium we wished too. I choose to make a series of “stand alone” illustrative posters. either choosing to stay abstract, conceptual or literal, I’ve started to paint the only way I know how, using a wacom tablet. each day was an adventure I didn’t know i was going into, and in the end I could look back and actually see the past month painted in front of me. It was an amazingly creative project and somewhat therapeutic.

What would Justin Bieber write to Mozart if he could shoot him an email? The visual letter was an exercise in imagination, and a very challenging one. I choose to combine two renowned public figures— most of the time contrasting with one another in views or talent — and collage them together. The idea was to blur the line between great and non great thinkers in an ironic way. But not all my subjects were ironic, some were complimenting each other with ideas and views, but all, to my opinion, are hilariously funny. Would you guess the combinations? Now try to imaging the correspondence between them.
