OTHER HIGHLIGHTS IN AUTUMN 2014
First of all, we celebrate the 50th Anniversary of Lancaster University by bringing back three musical graduates who have made their mark – soprano Jane Irwin, musical director Pete Faint and comedian Rainer Hersch. Each has created a unique programme, including a tribute to the great band-leader Jack Hylton in his 50th Anniversary year, and a hilarious concert to raise funds for Comic Relief. Some of the finest international talent can be heard in the Great Hall, with the Jimi Hendrix of the cello, Giovanni Sollima, the epic young Russian pianist, Yevgeny Sudbin, and “Young Steinway Artist” Joseph Moog. These are concerts which are truly unmissable. A new collaboration with one of the world’s finest conservatoires, The Royal Northern College of Music, will see performances over the next few years of their most notable rising young talent and spectacular orchestras and ensembles. A treasure-trove of musical experiences and a very warm welcome await you at Lancaster University. I look forward to seeing you at a concert soon.
