MADE IN LANCASTER; 50 YEARS OF LANCASTER UNIVERSITY Part of the ecosystem and cultural offer of Lancaster University, Live at LICA is proud to celebrate the University’s 50th year with activities under the banner ‘Made In Lancaster’. As a commissioning and production house with a legacy of supporting artistic talent we’ll be welcoming back alumni to perform during autumn 2014 and spring 2015 including theatre maker David Leddy, conductor and comedian Rainer Hersch and artist Paul McDevitt. We’re also involved in University activities such as the Community Day on 13th September and providing some big occasions with Ockham’s Razor performers towering above our heads (accompanied by a choir of student and local participants) and a Jack Hylton Anniversary concert in the new year. We’re also adding to the University’s impressive art collection in its 50th year with the co-acquisition of 19 new media works by Mel Brimfield.
Live at LICA invite you and your family to our Peter Scott Gallery for fun activities, live music sessions, free coffee and an exclusive look at our upcoming autumn 2014 Season. When you arrive you'll meet PhD student and Korean artist Hyeyoung Maeng and see her beautiful Wishing Tree. Young is busy making a friendship bracelet, a GIANT one, to celebrate 50 years of Lancaster University so why not come and see the tree and join in to make your own bracelets or create 'wishes' to help the tree blossom! For the very young we’ll also be scheduling some performances of Cello Babies throughout the afternoon. Grab a free cuppa from the Live at LICA pop-up café bar and enjoy some live acoustic music sessions with a slice of our delicious Ginger Bakers cake. Then why not pop into the Gallery to learn more about the impressive history of LU's 50 years by exploring the Alumni and Memorabilia exhibition and an exclusive preview of what Live at LICA is bringing to the campus and Lancaster city soon in our upcoming autumn 2014 Season. This event is free and open to all ages. For further details on the University's 50th celebrations visit www.lancaster.ac.uk/50

COMMUNITY ACTIVITIES DAY
PERFORMANCE & VISUAL ART
… to this new look brochure for Live at LICA outlining exhibition and performance presentation for autumn 2014. Commemorating Lancaster University’s 50th Anniversary and over 40 years of teaching Theatre Studies at LU we’ve bracketed 2014-15 under the theme ‘Made in Lancaster’. Events and exhibitions feature alumni and LaL regulars whose artistic careers LU has helped shape over the years. We also celebrate our ongoing relationship with the city of Lancaster via a series of special events. Live at LICA: In the City brings activities of all shapes and sizes to the heart of Lancaster for a range of age groups and tastes. Chief among our activities this season are two exclusive performances from circus and aerial theatre company Ockham’s Razor to mark both LU’s 50th and this year’s Light Up The Streets extravaganza in November. It’s thrilling to mix with such a talented group of alumni and arts makers - a suitable reminder that LaL supports the flourishing of artistic talent both emerging and established. Elsewhere we’ve made one or two other changes. We’ve added Community and Student events listings to support upcoming arts events from these groups with detail on both brochure and website. We’ve simplified our Supporters Scheme and

ticket pricing so that LaL Supporters will save money every time they book. And we’ve begun a dedicated brochure for our excellent Concerts series now in its 47th consecutive year. Meanwhile LaL continues to find new ways of engaging with audiences. Check out our app Taking the Artwork Home online or get yourself a ticket to the spectacular Sea Breeze at Morecambe’s iconic Winter Gardens in September. We’re on a mission to offer meaningful experiences through artist-led ideas, learning opportunities and interaction with LU’s art collection. Join our twitter feed and facebook page to know more. I look forward to meeting you online or in person soon. Jamie Eastman Director director@liveatlica.org

OCKHAM’S RAZOR
