Emma Barone Irish Artist

Emma Barone is a vibrant and acclaimed contemporary artist, celebrated for her dynamic acrylic paintings that span still life, abstract, and landscape genres. Her artistic journey has been marked by 22 solo exhibitions and the co-creation of two books with writer and poet Eileen Casey, showcasing her creative versatility and depth.

But Emma’s influence stretches far beyond the canvas. Passionate about the intersection of art and wellbeing, she plays an active role in community and care sectors, channeling her talents into the arts and health fields. A creative force, she has not only established herself as a visual artist but also as a dedicated arts facilitator. Her work is centered around participant-led engagement, using an intuitive, process-driven approach to foster meaningful social connections and transformative experiences through art.

From 2019 to 2024, Emma served as a Creative/Arts Workshop Facilitator at Avista (Ashbrook) & Riverview Resources, Birr, where she used art as a tool for empowerment and connection within her community. Her dedication to arts facilitation is rooted in the belief that creativity can have a profound and positive impact on people’s lives.

Her artistic journey is complemented by a wide array of educational achievements. Emma is currently pursuing a Professional Postgraduate Diploma in Arts and Health at NCAD, building on her 2022/23 Professional Diploma in Expressive Arts from ICPPD (International College of Personal and Professional Development). She also enriched her practice with a course in “Introduction to Holistic Counselling & Psychotherapy” at ICPPD in 2021, integrating psychological insights into her work. Most recently, in 2024, she completed the Creative Exchanges course with Age & Opportunity, further expanding her toolkit for creative community engagement.

In addition to her artistic education, Emma holds qualifications in Special Needs Assisting and Training Evaluation and Delivery, both at QQI Level 6, from Forus Training and Offaly Local Development Company, respectively.

Emma’s work is not confined to galleries; her pieces are featured in both private and public collections, including prestigious institutions like The Irish Hospice Foundation, Midlands Regional Hospital, Offaly County Council, and even The Amsterdam World Trade Centre. Her involvement in safeguarding children and vulnerable adults underscores her commitment to ethical practices in all areas of her work.

She is an active member of Visual Artists Ireland, the Crafts Council of Ireland. In 2023, her dedication to the fusion of art and health was recognized with the Anam Beo Mentoring Award, solidifying her reputation as a leading figure in arts and health initiatives.

Emma Barone’s multifaceted career demonstrates her belief in the power of art to enrich lives, transform communities, and create lasting impact both in the studio and beyond.
