Love Music: Support Liverpool Philharmonic

There is nothing like the thrill of a symphony orchestra in full flow, led by a charismatic conductor, performing to a concert hall full of people experiencing something that is at once deeply personal and deeply shared – the power of live music. The people of Liverpool have known this since 1840, and it's why the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra continues to be at the heart of the city's cultural life.

Ticket sales and public funding alone cannot come close to meeting the cost of maintaining a symphony orchestra and concert hall.

We are a registered charity that uses music to inspire people, to bring happiness, relaxation, and exhilaration to their lives, and that helps to make the city of Liverpool a wonderful place to live.

We are always seeking new ways in which music can enhance people's lives. We can only do this because of the generosity of thousands of people who support us every year. Most people do this by becoming a member or patron of the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic.

If you are one of these people, thank you. If you would like to learn more about how your gift could help to maintain musical excellence in Liverpool, please read on.

MEMBERSHIP

Membership of Liverpool Philharmonic is an opportunity to share in the life of the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra, and is the simplest way to make a gift in support of our work on and off the stage.

We offer annual Memberships starting at £100 for Silver and increasing to £1,000 and beyond for membership of our 1840 Circle and Chief Conductors’ Circle.

We recognise and thank our Members for their support in a number of ways, as detailed overleaf. Highlights for Silver Members include invitations to preconcert receptions and open rehearsals, whilst Gold Plus Members receive an invitation to our annual Thank You Dinner with Vasily Petrenko and musicians, and 1840 Circle Members enjoy the highest level of priority booking with a dedicated member of the Development Team.

PATRONAGE Patrons are donors who choose either to dedicate a seat in the auditorium, or to adopt a musician from the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra.

Patronage is typically a longer term commitment in supporting Liverpool Philharmonic. We suggest a minimum of 3 years.

Dedicate a Seat £150 (or £12 a month if paying by direct debit)

Our individually designed seat plaques are the perfect gift for music-lovers and concertgoers, and a lasting dedication if a gift is made in memory of a loved one. We will engrave a brass seat plaque with a dedication of your choice, and secure it to a seat of your choice in the auditorium (subject to available seats).

LOVE MUSIC: FROM THE FIRST NOTE

Over the years, thousands of donors have supported Liverpool Philharmonic’s work with schools and young people

This vital, often unseen work is now a fundamental - and growing - part of Liverpool Philharmonic’s mission. We are investing over £1m in musical education every year. Our Schools’ Concert series, now in its 8th decade, our groundbreaking music

education and social change programme, In Harmony Liverpool, and our youth orchestra, ensembles and choirs are fortunate to have many friends whose generosity help each year to nurture talent and sustain musical excellence.

With your help, we will grow our investment in young people’s music-making: all made possible through the ongoing financial support of people who believe as we do in the power of music to change lives.

In Harmony Liverpool: Life changing music-making

In Harmony Liverpool is transforming lives in one of the most economically disadvantaged areas of Liverpool.

Through free access to intensive orchestral music-making it is giving hundreds of young people who face significant challenges opportunities they would never otherwise have.

It is turning their community around, producing great musicians, improved educational attainment and skills, higher aspirations, and stronger families.

And it works.

‘I really enjoy playing the violin. Sometimes I love it so much I teach myself pieces. When I show other people what I can do, they say ‘Wow!’ Learning the violin makes me feel amazing.’ Jessica, 9 years old, In Harmony Liverpool

MAKING A MAJOR GIFT, BRINGING OUR MUSICAL AMBITIONS TO LIFE

10

Every gift that we receive helps to secure the future of the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic.

We are fortunate that some of these gifts are truly transformative.

Major gifts allow us to do things that are very special, that we would otherwise not be able to.

Major gifts help us to attract the best musicians in the world to Liverpool, to support the purchase of instruments, to take artistic risks in performing new and challenging repertoire.

They have one thing in common: they are an extraordinary demonstration of their donor’s belief in what we do.

LEAVE A LEGACY A legacy is the greatest gift that anyone can make. A gift in your Will to support Liverpool Philharmonic will make a lasting contribution so that generations to come can share in your love of music.

You can choose whether your legacy gift would assist us generally or in a specific way, for instance by supporting our Education and Participation work.

Each year Liverpool Philharmonic holds a dedicated Legacy Memorial Concert and invites the friends and families of those from whom we have recently received a legacy or bequest.

We also invite those who have informed us that Liverpool Philharmonic has been included within their Will.

IN MEMORIAM GIFTS Each year Liverpool Philharmonic benefits from generous donations made by the relatives of loved ones who have passed away.
