Fellow Breeders, RED ANGUS ENTHUSIASTS AND FRIENDS. Welcome, Its hard to believe another year has come and gone, but it’s sale time! The offering we have put together includes some of the best genetics we have from the heart of our herd. Once again we have held nothing back, offering our very best. We are keeping 50% embryo interest in a few select lots to maintain our genetics base. These select lots have included the 2012 & 2013 Junior National Grand Champion Females as well as the 2013 NAJRAE Futurity Champion, in the past. Many have become donor cows for their new owners. We cherish the partnerships we have. We are also offering rare genetics such as an interest in choice of two full sisters to Blockana 807. She is the first Triple Crown Winner of the Red Angus breed. The flush lot this year is SLGN Bailey’s Tess 751T. Tess is our two-time National Champion Female and dam of SLGN Yardmaster, the $55,000 high seller. Yardmaster’s first progeny sell September 22nd. If we don’t have your attention yet, we also are selling a full sister to the 2012 Reserve National Champion Female and a black red carrier daughter of Peek-A-Boo. Semen on Cowboy Cut and Rock Star will also sell in five and ten unit packages. We are overwhelmed at how well the first daughters of these two great bulls have made terrific cows, unbelievable udders, low maintenance and big performance! I have to say thank you and congratulations to all the juniors and families that have supported our program. We love to work with the youth of today watching them become the leaders of tomorrow. Our proudest moments are seeing a young person, who has put their time and best efforts into their heifer project get, rewarded on show day. However, watching the heifers go into production as cows and return their investment is a goal we have for all of our customers. We have been doing this long enough to watch these youngsters develop into fine young adults, the next generation of the cattle industry! With that being said, we invite everybody to Grand Island, Nebraska next June 19, 2014 for the greatest junior event offered to Red Angus youth, the North American Junior Red Angus Event! This family oriented, kid focused event is the fastest growing junior breed show in the United States! Come and see for yourself what all the excitement is about. We hope you can make it to Marietta, Oklahoma, September 22, we plan on offering you our best cattle and hospitality. Come early, view the cattle and join us for lunch. For those that can’t make it join us on Liveauctions.TV or bid on the phone with one of our sale reps. We stand behind what we sell and want your purchase to work for you. Let us know how we can help. See you on the 22nd, Dan, Cheryl & Cassie

The Lot 1 female in the sale is used as the attention getter of the sale. When you open a sale catalog the first one you normally look at is Lot 1. This year we are very proud and excited about the future of our Lot 1 female. Adel is bred top and bottom for performance, maternal traits and championships. Her dam is a full sister to the Precision female who was named 2004 Junior National Champion Female as a calf, 2005 Junior National Champion Female, 2006 Champion Female at National Western Stock Show & Performance 2006 Champion Female at Fort Worth BW Stock Show. Adel’s sire has produced the 78 2012 and 2013 Junior National ChamWW pion Females along with many other 660 championships. Adel has always caught our eye in the pasture and she continues to grow and develop into a beautiful replacement female. This is the type of female that you can build a herd around. She has a great disposition and will make a great show heifer but your true rewards will come when she becomes a cow and starts producing the next generation. We are retaining 1/2 embryo interest in Lot 1. CJ

sisters, this year we decided to change it up. Lot 1 & 2 are females that represent the type of cattle we try and breed for. We don’t breed show cattle, we show breeding cattle. That is exactly what 1 & 2 are, Breeding Cattle. Lot 2 is a flushmate sister to the 2012 Junior National Champion Female, the 2012 Res National Champion Female and the 2013 Champion Bull at the NAILE and FWSS. Abi has the potential to be better than her older sibs. She is a long patterned female that carries her body depth consistently from her fore rib to flank. She stands on a solid foot and hind leg. I would recommend this heifer for any youngster looking to have a great first experience showing a really sweet heifer. Abi’s full sister, Yoninah, calved this year and we are selling her first calf as lot 14. I think that speaks a lot about the maternal traits of this cow line and the potential that Lot 2 has for her new buyer. We are retaining 1/2 embryos interest in Lot 2. CJ

won’t even believe it is the same heifer. She is a later maturing female that just keeps improving with time. This is the type of female that will be able to produce those heavy muscled performance oriented bulls and the long smooth patterned females that everyone loves to look at. Her dam was named the 2009 Champion Female at the Fort Worth Stock Show. The T7641 female is young in our donor program, but she is already leaving her footprint along the way. Lot 3 reminds me of her dam in a lot of ways. Lot 4 takes after her father a little more. She is a moderate framed heifer that is more feminine in her features. I really appreciate the balance this heifer has from front to back. She is deep bodied, stout made and walks on a sold foot. Both heifers also have a gentle disposition that I would recommend for anyone to handle. CJ

The

Yardmaster Family We are very excited about our Yardmaster calves this year. We do not have a lot on the ground but I promise you there will be a lot more for you to pick from in next year’s sale. Lot 5 is my favorite Yardmaster female this year. She will not overwhelm you in any specific area but what will impress you is how nice a package she has to offer. She is moderate framed and really soft made. I appreciate her length of front end and how she carries that length down her top and hip. She is deep sided and really explodes with Performance dimension from her fore rib back. Lot 5 BW is stout enough for her frame and you 80 can really appreciate her structure when WW you set her into motion. Don’t miss out 600 on this exciting female! Dam to Lot 6 Lot 6 is a really feminine made female. She has a great front end that will catch the eye of any judge when you walk in the ring. Combine that with her rib shape, body depth, level hip and structure and you will be sure to get a good look. Beyond the Performance show ring this female comes from a long BW line of high performing maternally ori76 ented females. Lot 8’s maternal great granWW dam, Daorv, is one of the heaviest muscled 560 females I have ever seen in the Red Angus breed. Her stoutness has carried on through each of her daughters and grandaughters. We have kept an interest in every Hi Queen 0140 daughter that we have ever produced. That is how much we believe in this cow family. Lot 6 has a very bright future ahead of her beyond the show ring. CJ Red Legends 9

Another great Yardmaster female is offered as Lot 7. Amber has a pretty front end and ties that into the top of her shoulder nicely. She is a strong topped female that carries her body depth really well from fore rib to flank. Like all the Yardmasters, this female is strong topped, long and leveled hipped. Lot 7 has a good set of growth numbers on her. Numbers combined with her phenotype tells me that she is going to be worth her weight in gold as a cow. We sold her dam in 2008 as a bred heifer and retained half embryo interest. This is a good example of how our embryo interest works. We reserve the right to half of the flushes performed on the female and we pay for half the cost. CJ

First year show kids this is the heifer for you!! When we were getting the cattle ready to picture Mom helped clipped this one. She told me she did not want to sell this one because she was so sweet and gentle. Alissa has had a great disposition since the first day we put a halter on her. Her dam is a maternal sister to Meado-West Peek-A-Boo and I think some of Peek-A-Boo’s characteristics are coming through on this heifer calf. Lot 8 is a moderate framed, easy keeping, soft made heifer with a beautiful profile. This female is one that will steal your heart on sale day. CJ

Lots 9 & 10 both come from the famous Sheba cow. Sheba has produced some outstanding females and bulls. In 2010 we sold three flushmate daughters and they average $10,000. Two of the three are currently in the donor pen with our partners and the other one has been working well for Mann Ranch in Kansas. Lot 9 has been one of my favorites since the day she was born. She is extremely long fronted, feminine made and functional on the move. Right before we took this picture she hit a growth spirt but wait until you see her at the sale. She will come back into her own and you will understand why I fell in love with her from the beginning. We are retaining 50% embryo interest in lot 9. CJ

Both are phenomenal cows. As first calf heifers, they have done an incredible job raising their first calves. Unfortunately at the show Dad’s pair beat mine and he was finally able to tell me he was right and I was wrong.....I just think the judge was wrong. Lot 16 is the definition of an easy keeping female that has a ton of brood cow potential in her. She is big boned, heavy muscled, big topped and loaded with capacity. This year we are only putting 4 of our top Black Angus females on the sale. I think that Lots 18 & 19 say a lot about where we are going with our program. Lot 18 is out of a first calf heifer that has done a great job! I believe that if I had 20 more like Rita 1111, I would have all I needed for Angus cows to produce elite genetics for the next ten years. Her dam is smooth made, high volumed, extremely athletic and has a beautiful udder. Lot 18 has carried on some of those characteristics from her dam, but I believe she is stouter and heavier boned. We are very impressed with our Motive calves this year and look forward to having more calves out of him next spring. CJ

Lot 19 is out of a very efficient producer in our cow herd. Two years ago a maternal sister sold in our Red Legends & Black Diamonds sale. She is pictured above, notice the similarities? The

Packer Family Here is a lot that will offer you a combination of a proven cow family with the popular carcass genetics that all leading bull studs can’t get enough of. You can purchase this heifer, take her home, breed her to Rock Star or Yardmaster and when she calves you will be two steps ahead of the competition. You will have a calf on the ground that will grow like a weed. It will have muscle, eye appeal and a solid set of EPDs. These will allow you to market to a variety of customers. Copprqueen 7168 made a solid name for herself in the breed and last year at 16 years old she passed away. It will be hard to find many more direct daughters to her. CJ

Lot 21 is a bit of a special heifer to us. She is an embryo calf that has an identical twin sister that did not make the sale. She had a birth weight of 40 lbs and her sister was 30 lbs. We really did not think they were going to make it through the cold February, but they did. Wow did they do it well. Lot 21 was weaned with the rest of the heifers August 5th and her actual weaning weight was 550. I would say that is pretty impressive considering she started off at 40 lbs. Acacia is a moderate framed heifer that has a lot of performance backing her up. Take a look at her EPDs! Her dam has been a good producer for us and a very heavy milker. I would expect Lot 21 to be similar to her mom from that stand point. CJ

TESS Family In the last two years we have been mating Tess a lot of different ways to see what exactly would hit or miss. So far we haven’t found a mating that missed yet! I first saw Cutting Edge in Denver as a 2-year old and I really appreciated how he could hit his stride and how soft he was in his pasterns for such a big bull. Lot 22 is certainly not lacking in terms of being functional. She reminds me of Tess a lot as far as her body type. Soft made, big middle, feminine and I can’t forget to mention that she has a great disposition. Performance We were not going to put her on our sale BW because of her age, but since we weaned 75 her, she is really starting to come into her WW own. She can certainly hold her ground 500 with the older heifers in the group. Lot 22 has a lot of purple ribbons in her pedigree already. Tess is a Two-Time National Champion Female and Cutting Edge was Champion Bull in Reno and Billings as a 2-year old. She is only an April but analyze her closely on sale day. She could be a sleeper! When I said we mated Tess to a lot of different types of bulls I really meant it! I chose Packer because I wanted to help boost the carcass traits in her progeny. What I wasn’t expecting was to get such a good looking female out of the mating. Lot 23 is unique because she has the EPDs that everyone likes to see on paper. She combines that into a package that resembles those EPDs pretty accurately. She was an easy calving calf that started growing as soon as she hit the ground. She is smooth muscled, long topped and level hipped. She is not one of the heavier muscled females in the sale but her body type tells me that she should scan with a good IMF. If you are trying to combine numbers with phenotype then this is one heifer that I would take a close look at. You will have a lot of different mating options to use on her in the future. CJ

Smasher is one of our herd sires that we picked up from Six Mile a few years back. We have had some difficulty getting the Canadian papers to transfer so the calves EPDs are not resembling what they will actually be. The updated EPDs will be available on our web site at www.solutiongenetics.com. Smasher has been doing a good job for us by producing some really consistent offspring. The females look like females and the bulls are stout but still very maternal. Lot 24 is a female that I think has a lot of potential ahead of her. Give her a little feed and some time and she will be catching the eyes of a lot of judges. CJ

There is a lot of Canadian blood in this young ladies pedigree! The only American part about her is her maternal grandam, Forster Hi Queen 0140. Hi Queen 0140 is a direct daughter to Daorv which is one of the heaviest muscled cows in Red Angus history. Combine that with New Trend and Smasher and you have a great combination for a heavy muscled highly maternal female. Lot 27 is a younger heifer that has a gorgeous profile. If you are looking for a gentle disposition Angus heifer that you can drag around all year, this is the one for you. This neat fronted heifer has a smooth shoulder that blends nicely into her fore rib. She is very deep sided, smooth muscled and square made. The Resumes are not as stout as the Motives but they do have a sharper side profile. Her dam as been a consistent producer of maternally oriented females. I believe this heifer will prove herself even more valuable in the pasture after you get done showing her. CJ

She is an April and she doesn’t have as much condition on her as the other three Angus, but don’t let that scare you. This is the kind of heifer you can buy at a reasonable price, take her home and make her great. She has the front end that will catch the eye of any judge when you walk in the ring. What is even better, is that she has the body depth, hip and structure that will wow the judge even more. Her dam is a big stout brood cow that has been more of a bull producer for us. This year we were lucky to finally get a heifer. You need to come to the sale to see how much this one will change in the next month! CJ

Maternal Sister out of 9088

This is a once in a lifetime opportunity to get rare genetics that will influence your herd for years to come. We are selling half interest in your pick of Lot 29 or 30. These are flush mate sisters to the first ever Triple Crown Winner in 2000, Blockanna 807. We acquired 807 from Whitestone in 2003 and she is still producing embryos today. A very prolific female that has produced some outstanding bulls and females along the way. We have never sold a daughter of 807 without keeping half interest in her and as far as bulls go, her most recent son is SLGN Young Gun 109Y, is currently owned by Denton Halpain of Oklahoma. The 692 cow has been a prolific producer as well. She died last year at the grand age of 16. The 807 female has never had full sibs sell out of her. This is the first and last time this will ever be offered. There are some differences in the two heifers selling. Lot 29 is very similar to 807. She is a very smooth made, long patterned heifer that has a great hip. Lot 30 is a little different. She is a shorter sided heifer that has more body depth and muscle, but is not as smooth made or clean up through her front third as 29. You can take either one of these two females home, show them if you would like, and then have fun mating them the rest of their life. It will be very exciting to see what they can do as donors in your herd. I know I can’t wait to start breeding them! Remember you get to pick one for half interest. We take the other home! Lot 31 may be the best natural Rock Star heifer calf we have raised yet! This mating really clicked because it combined the positives of both dam and sire. Alanis has a long neck and spine combined with a really feminine front third that ties neatly into her shoulder and fore rib, just like her dam. Then her sire comes into play and puts a nice top, big hip and lots of rib into her. This heifer has a lot to offer in a good size package. Her dam is a 9-year old cow that is a direct daughter to the well known Eleanor cow family. Lot 31 is really combining old school with new school in an eye appealing package. A typical Lavonne female: big bone, stout hip, lots of body and clean fronted. This is a maternal sister to the dams of Lots 8, 33 & 34. This heifer has the potential to create progeny like those in the future, don’t miss out on this one! She has all the right parts and just needs to be given the chance to create a great one. We have been trying over the last few years to incorporate some new genetics into our Red Angus program by breeding and flushing some of our elite Red Angus cows to Black Angus bulls. In 2011 we decided to put some of our top cows in with our elite herd sire E&B Destined 661. The results were great! We now have 5 black red carrier females going into production at our place. The sire of these two females, Destined 661, is a phenomenal female maker. The Destined daughters have plenty of milk and a great shape to their teats and udder. Destined’s EPD profile reads very well too. He has a -0.9 to 95 growth spread, a 1.15 Marb EPD and a $B of 94.73. This bull has done a lot for our cow herd in the last 3 years and we are looking forward to seeing what he does with these young black red carrier daughters. Lot 53 is out of a first calf heifer, 9207W. Next Spring we plan on putting 9207w into our donor program after she calves. Her maternal grandam is the

We ran out of time getting pictures on the last of the females but you really need to come to the sale and see this one to know that she is flat out a good female to put in your program. Pure genetics at work with Persuasion top and bottom. You know this female can do the job. CJ

Rebella R5088 and Persuasion in this pedigree tell me one thing, Lot 70 is going to be a tremendous cow that will be sound, easy keeping, low birth, high growth with excellent carcass. She is also out of a first calf heifer which tells me her dam did an excellent job raising her as well. CJ

SLGN X-Files 006X Sire to Lot 71

Dark red pretty made female here! I don’t know what it is about dark red females but they sure do draw your eye to them right way. This Smasher daughter is long, clean fronted, strong topped and level hipped. There are a lot of AI sires out there that would work really well on her. Her dam has been a good producer for us and I expect Lot 71 will do the same for you. CJ Red Legends 34

Each year a highlight of our sale is the once in a lifetime flush opportunity on one of our programs top donor cows. In past years, the breeders who have stepped up to take advantage of this have reaped the rewards. Mark Moxley exhibited the Grand Champion Female at the 2011 NAILE in Louisville with a daughter of Peek-A-Boo that was purchased as a flush. Damar farms purchased the Persuasion flush and showed the Reserve Champion bull at Louisville in 2012. This year has just as much potential, as we offer a flush on our twotime National Champion Female, SLGN Bailey’s Tess 751T. Tess is the dam of SLGN Yardmaster who sold to a syndicate of breeders for $55,000 and was then leased to Genex for Latin and South American semen rights. Tess has won four Produce of Dam titles and has been a consistent producer in our program with progeny selling for $12,500, $12,000, $11,000 and $9,500. Don’t miss this opportunity as it will never be offered again. Solution Genetics guarantees six eggs to the bull of the buyers choice, after 6 the buyer and seller split the rest of them evenly. Buyer gets first 6, Solution Genetics gets the 7th, buyers gets the 8th, and so on. Buyer pays for all flush expenses, Solution Genetics pays for the freezing costs on their share of eggs. Buyer has the right to choose the sire for the flush, and must supply semen. Payment is to be made 50% at the time of the sale and 50% upon completion of flush. Flush will be conducted at Collison Embryo in Rockwell City, IA. Red Legends 36

Lot 76 is a power house of a female. We lost her first calf and did not get a picture of her while she was still wet. However, come to the sale and see for yourself how she looks. She can be mated to Simmental, Limousin or even Maines and you will be really happy with what you get. Having Fully Loaded as her sire has hurt her EPDs, but I believe that a cow is worth more than just a set of numbers on paper. Look at the actual data and take a good look at her. You know having Precision as a dam, and having actual performance data like she does, can only mean one thing, this cow is going to produce some powerful calves. Lot 76 calved in April and as soon as the heat cools off we will begin flushing her this fall. I have a lot of ideas on how to flush these two and I can’t wait to get started with our new partners. We have a great partner who is reaching the age where he wants to start cutting back on his herd. He has decided to offer his half of these two donors this year. We are selling half interest & no possession. When the donor gets set up to flush, we will contact you and ask you if you have a preference on sire. We will then split the embryos 50/50. If we do not agree on a sire we will each get our own flush. The new owner pays for 50% of the flush costs and we will keep each natural calf to cover the expense of housing the female at our place. Lot 75 has been a great cow to have on the farm. She has a great disposition, is easy keeping and very maternal. She is currently bred to calve this Spring. Once she does, we will put her back into the donor pen and start flushing her. Last year as a first calf heifer she averaged 7 embryos on 3 flushes. CJ

Slgn Yardmaster 125Y The first & second U.S. born calf crop of Cowboy Cuts made a huge splash on sale and show circuits! Several daughters topped sales for breeders including: Solution Genetics at $20,000, $13,000 and $12,500, C-Bar in Kansas high selling heifer at $10,500, Lautenschlager at Bet on Red’s at $7,400 and several others. The Cowboy daughters tore up the tanbark as the 2013 Reserve Grand Champion Female at Louisville, Jr National Champion Female in Denver and 2014 Grand Champion Female in Fort Worth owned by Pam Hanson, Addy VanVliet and Solution Genetics. In 2012 Cowboy Cut also won the Jr. and Sr. Get of Sire at both Louisville and Denver. The 2012 Junior National Grand Champion Female in Denver was a Cowboy Cut owned by Gabe Gibson and Solution Genetics. All that in the first two Cowboy Cut First Calf Heifer calf crops makes you wonder what is yet to come! Many noted Red Angus Breeders have said Cowboy Cut may be the next great female producer in the breed! The first daughters calved in the United States this spring and the udders are excellent and they are great mothers. His pedigree is stacked maternal, with some of the best females in Canada in his genes. We recommend Cowboy Cut for moderate, thick made females that need added length, structural correctness and maternal strength. The semen packages offered in this sale will be the only semen available in the U.S. for the fall 2013 breeding season. Selling 10 packages 2013 FWSS Champion Bull of 10 units and 10 packages of 5 units, high bidder has the option to take as much as they like. The calf crop reports of Rock Star calves have solidified this bull as a true beef machine! He stamps his calves with the same bold features that he possesses, muscle, middle and moderation. His offspring come in an easy fleshing, eye appealing package andcatches the attention of many great cattlemen. Rock Star is the sire of the 2012 National Western Grand Champion Pen of Three Bulls. They were a big attraction ‘In The Yards’ in Denver and were praised by the judge for their uniformity, muscle and rib shape. The Rock Star bull calves in the Cattlemen’s Bull Sale were a stout set of bulls that exceeded our expectations every step of the way. His outcross pedigree makes him a unique breeding piece for several breeders and his outstanding performance adds to the marketability of his offspring. The latest EPD report blew us away as his performance numbers went through the roof while his maintenance energy number put him at the top of the breed. His dam has a picture perfect udder and the Rock Star heifer calves were a big hit at the 2011 Red Legends sale as eight Rock Star females averaged $7,300. Now that his first daughters have calved we are excited to say that they have picture perfect udders and our two heaviest weaning bulls calves were out of Rock Star first calf heifers this year! After seeing the progeny in Denver, Genex leased Latin America and South America semen rights. We suggest using Rock Star on bigger framed females that need to add muscle, width and dimension. The semen packages offered in this sale will be the only semen available for the fall 2013 breeding season. Supporting Our Juniors

What better way to help our juniors continue their dreams while planning for the future than to offer a scholarship program that will do just that. We have always tried to support our juniors and feel this program will help give back to those young people who work so hard. To be eligible for Scholarship Program, Juniors must complete all requirements as follows: The animals must be purchased from Solution Genetics at public auction or private treaty by the junior and registered in the junior’s name. The year of purchase and receipt of payment determines which year you will qualify under the graduated program. If you purchase an animal in 2013, that is year one. Animals purchased and paid for in subsequent calendar years qualify you for additional years. If any year is missed, the future purchase will be credited to the next year of purchase (i.e. if you purchase in 2009 and 2011, then 2011--- would be the second year of purchase. Only the highest qualifying level per animal will be awarded. (i.e., If your animal wins Grand Champion at the Louisville Jr. Show and Reserve Grand at your State Jr. Field Day, you will be paid on the highest level of winning only; $1000 in this example.) The year of purchase (one, two, three, four or five), not the year of the show, will determine which scholarship year will be honored. Eligible shows listed must have a minimum of 25 entries to qualify for awards program. To qualify for each scholarship, the student is required to submit the proper information of verification to Solution Genetics including proof of winning (on Approved Scholarship Form), 8 x 10 picture, and provide proof of enrollment. Scholarships will be paid to the junior upon proof of enrollment at an accredited college, university or vocational-technical school. Qualifiers must complete their education at the accredited college, university or vocational-technical school of their choice on or before their 30th birthday or the remaining portion of their Scholarships will be forfeited.
