Welcome to the 2015 edition of our private treaty spring bull sale. The last year has been one of records broken in the cattle industry. We have seen prices I never dreamed of in every sector of our business. We even where fortunate to receive timely rains in our area this summer and early fall. We are still very short of pond and subsoil moisture, but are hopeful for rains this spring. Our cow herd enjoyed a good summer and our weights on fall born and spring steers were exceptional. I received a call from the buyer of our fall steers recently with reports of the best gains and pounds of feed consumed and feed conversion he has recorded on our calves. Arlen has fed our fall steers several years and has been great to work with. I have had similar reports from our customers on their weights and gains as well. We will be offering several percentage bulls this year. I continue to get requests for moderate birth weight composite bulls that still maintain growth. I think we have a nice set of percentage bulls out of our top young cows as well as three outstanding ET calves from the R29 donor. We also have a nice set of Âž Simmental and purebred Simmental power bulls. We will continue to be a reliable source of quality purebred Simmental bulls. I love the Sim/Angus cross, but I know the industry needs the power and muscle that purebred Simmentals can offer. We are making one major change to our bull sale this spring. We will price the bulls in the catalog as in years past, but no bulls will be sold prior to February 15th. On the 15th we will bid off any bulls that have interest by more than one potential buyer. Prices will increase in increments of $100 until only one buyer remains. If only one party is interested in a specific bull, then the bull sells at the price in the catalog. This will enable everyone a chance at the bull of their choice. You are welcome to view the bulls at any time prior to February 15th. You can leave me a list of your selections at that time or call me the 15th. Please call ahead so I can be on hand to show the bulls. I am also available to help you select bulls over the phone if you choose. The bulls are being fed, vaccinated and handled the same as years past. All bulls have tested BVD PI negative. Ultrasound data will be available on our website www.houckrockcreekranch.com or at the ranch. All bulls will have passed a BSE evaluation. This bull shows why I put so much pressure on udder quality. He was born on a nasty night. When I found him in the morning he was up, had nursed and was going strong. Later in the spring not only did he lose most of both ears, but his dam lost most of one as well. Brogan is moderate, thick and should pass on some excellent maternal genetics.

This is one of the best Wrangler sons we have raised. That is saying a lot for a bull that was used heavily here spring and fall for numerous years. Belvedere is one of the two thickest bulls we are selling this year. His dam has not missed on her first three calves. Her first daughter has a son selling as B12, her second will calve this spring and this is the first son. This bull will sire an amazing set of females and his sons will push down the scales at sale time.

ROCK CREEK RANCH HERD SIRES RCR WRANGLER S215

Wrangler has proven himself as a moderate birth weight bull that can be used on a wide range of cows to produce quality bulls and very productive daughters. His offspring are above average for growth and mature into a moderate framed package. Udder quality is very good with small teat size. His daughters calve unassisted and breed back well.

RCR STETSON T17

Stetson has been proven as one of the top bulls for use on heifers in the Simmental breed. We have used him on over 150 heifers ourselves with only one assist. His daughters make smaller cows with loads of milk. They are bringing in some of our top calves in terms of both quality and performance. He is currently in the top 20 bulls in the Simmental breed for registrations.

RCR BONAFIDE Y111

Bonafide is the top Wrangler son that we have raised and used extensively in our cow herd. He sires more growth and more frame than Wrangler. His dam was flushed for two years and has several calves on fall cows with more to be born this spring and next fall. We are looking forward to his first set of daughters calving this spring.

BVD MASTERPIECE

Masterpiece was purchased from Beggars Diamond V Ranch in Montana. He is a high growth, power bull that adds the pounds. He does pass more birth weight to his offspring, but can be used very effectively when mated correctly. His first daughters had nice, tight udders and all calved unassisted.

ES ECLIPSE

Eclipse is one of the highest growth bulls we have used. He came from Eichacker Simmentals in the Dakotas. His calves are long sided with good rib shape. They will simply mash down the scales. His first daughters look to be massive made and will calve this spring.

SAV BISMARCK

Bismarck is an Angus bull we have used heavily on heifers and are now using for some flushes on donor cows. He is an absolute heifer bull and his calves have tremendous performance. GDAR GAME DAY

Game Day is an Angus bull we have used on heifers. He calves easily and his calves are very aggressive at birth. We have a small group of daughters in production. They are massive ribbed, have near perfect udders and are very attractive in their design.

LRS MEGAWATT

Megawatt was selected from the Lassle Ranch in Montana. I picked him for his genetic combination of growth, power and maternal genetics that were a total outcross for our program. He didnâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;t disappoint. His sons are moderate for birth weight and develop into massive thick ended bulls. His first daughters calved last spring and are some of my favorites. They stayed moderate sized, are gorgeous to look at and had the best total set of udders I have seen a bull produce. I look for them to make a huge impact. Unfortunately, we lost him last fall and only have a small amount of semen left. We are using him for some flushes and select AI breeding.

SRS RANGE ROVER

Range Rover was purchased to add mass, rib and power. He has done what we expected. His sons are powerful and his daughters made big bodied, thick cows. We did see some udder issues and he has moved on to a commercial herd.

TNT TANKER

Tanker is a purebred Simmental we have used as an AI sire. His calves have been moderate at birth, above average at weaning and are long sided and attractive. We will have some ET sons in the fall group as well.

GRANDMASTER

Grandmaster is another bull we have sampled AI. He calves well and is about average for growth. His calves are made well and are very attractive. We have a nice group of females in production and they have nice udders with plenty of milk. They are all weaning top end heifers and their sons will be in our bull sales.

HC HUMMER

Hummer is a Simmental bull that I purchased semen on after seeing several of his daughters in production. They were powerful, big bodied females with excellent udders. He is a light birth weight sire that is a little below average for performance. I think his best attribute will definitely be his females.
