Gosey Red Angus’ Final Bull Sale...
Saturday, April 4, 2015 • 1:00 pm CDT Gosey Red Angus Headquarters Raymond, Nebraska
Welcome to Gosey Red Angus’ Last Bull Sale ...... After dispersing our purebred Red Angus cows last November, we will offer the yearling bulls produced by those cows in our last bull sale on April 4 at 1pm. We will sell 18 bulls in a traditional auction here at our homeplace near Raymond. The tremendous acceptance of our cows and heifers in our November dispersal by really good cattle people was indeed humbling. The bull calves from those cows are a solid group of functional, good performing bulls. I have found no “magic formula” for breeding good cattle, but I have tried to position our program to produce “pleasant surprises” and to have the courage to cull the “unpleasant. My selection emphasis has been directed at producing functional cows that add reproduction, production and carcass merit to crossbreeding programs. First the cow has to be right before the feedlot performance or the carcass merit of their calves even matters. Thus, our emphasis on calving ease, teat & udder conformation, disposition, fleshing ability and reasonable mature size of our cows. The new Herdbuilder index recently calculated by the Red Angus Association is a welcome tool that will help breeders and bull buyers select for economically relevant cow traits. Likewise, the Gridmaster index will help breeders needing more postweaning performance & carcass merit in their programs. An index approach to multiple trait selection has proven to be more effective than single trait selection to bring about genetic improvement for net merit and profit. I invite you to study the data on these bulls and to come see them for yourself, I think you are going to like what you see. Thank you for your past confidence in our cattle, it has been a lot of fun to talk cattle with old friends and we look forward to visiting with friends we haven’t met yet. Sincerely, Jim & Linda Gosey

Wow! Talk about making up ground. This attractive, well balanced April 5 Design son caught up with the big boys that are a month older. Lot 1 is a clean fronted, straight lined bull whose beautiful uddered dam sold in our cow sale to Bruce Rogers, Nebraska. His 108 ratio at yearling and impressive IMF ratio of 127 are just some of the positives for this bull.
