Cattlemen, We would like to welcome you to our 47th Annual Bull Sale and thank you for considering the bulls in our 2015 offering. We believe the bulls offer consistency and quality with enough diversity in kind to fill the needs of a variety of demands. If you are looking for a herd bull, a heifer bull, or several of like kind to put with a larger group of females we think you can find what you need. The cattle industry has a vast number of segments, but the bottom line is we are all in the beef business. We calve a majority of the cows in March and April with a limited number in September. Our cattle run in large, rough pastures, without creep until just prior to weaning. After weaning the bulls are not pushed for maximum gain. They are fed ration manager from Dakotaland Feeds which is a corn base with a limiter to keep them from overeating. Our goal is to promote growth and preserve longevity, so the bulls will continue to improve and remain sound as they mature. We strive to produce quality real world cattle that meet the demands of the beef industry. It is an exciting time to be in the cattle business considering the technology available and the current demand. The bulls are cataloged by sire group with reference sires followed by their progeny. The fall bulls are cataloged together. The sale will again be an on-line action Thursday Feb. 26, closing time of 6 PM CST with extended bidding. Buyers Choice Auction is in charge of setting up and running the sale. If we can’t answer your questions on the format they are ready and willing to help. Thank you, Lloyd & Linda Harless, for all you do and for developing this unique and easy to use format. We will once again be hosting our presale preview Sat. Feb. 21 including a steak dinner at the ranch, with the bulls available for your inspection. If you cannot make the preview we invite you to arrange a time at your convenience to view the bulls. Looking forward to hearing from you.

AMAA Commercial Development Director David Steen • 515-201-3281 Bulls will have various opening bids. Volume discounts: 5-9 head 5% discount • 10 head or more 10% discount Any lot that does not recieve a bid by the close of the extended bidding will be available for $500 over their opening bid on a first come basis.
ULTRASOUND DATA
The bulls will be ultrasounded and weighed on Feb. 14, 2015 by Kama Bruns and sent to the National CUP Lab. The results will be available on our website as we receive them. The reason some of the bulls don’t have adjusted data is because they are too young or too old from the 365 day target.
BREEDING GUARANTEE
All bulls are guaranteed breeders. The 18 month old bulls are fertility tested. It will be the responsibility of the buyer to have the yearling bulls fertility tested before they are turned out with the cows or before 15 months of age. The seller reserves the privilege to prove the bull a breeder. If the bull fails to prove a breeder, the seller will either replace the bull with another of equal quality or give credit to the buyer at next year’s sale, less any salvage value of the bull. In the event that a bull becomes permanently injured or dies within the first breeding season, if notified promptly, the seller shall allow credit to the buyer of one half the purchased price towards another bull less any salvage value.
DELIVERY
We are offering free delivery in SD & NE and will assist to other states. It is the responsibility of the buyer to contact the seller to discuss delivery options. At the conclusion of the auction (pre-determined end time plus extended bidding) all lots purchased in the auction become the legal property of their respective buyers. No animals will be delivered without payment or arrangements made in advance with the seller. Seller will keep the bulls at no charge for 10 days and $2.00/head/day after that. The DeJong Ranch is not liable for injuries occurring after the sale date. Arrangements for keeping the bulls longer may be made between buyer and seller, and are at the sole discretion of these two parties.

Beef is one of the most important dietary sources of iron. To obtain the same amount of iron found in a 3-oz serving of beef, you’d have to eat at least 3 cups of raw spinach. 3 cups of broccoli have 11.1 grams of protein vs. 3-oz, serving of beef provides 25 grams of protein. Active individuals (pregnant women & growing teens) are encouraged to get 7580 grams of protein/day equaling 24 cups of broccoli to reach 80 grams or a 9-10 oz. steak.
